Reasons to be cheerful, March edition: According to the Telegraph, aka the Tory intranet, 40s vaccination is a couple of weeks away, and right on target: www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/03/01/over-40s-covid-vaccines-rollout-track-begin-month/ (paywall, but the headline says it all)

Good news for those of us in our prime (cough ahem) Wine Brew

Mid 50s and not called yet...

RebeccaCloud9 · 01/03/2021 12:35

I qualify as a carer through my job (but not an actual carer by profession). I haven't had any invitation but clicked on a swiftqueue link and just booked. I had to click the carers box and that was it! Jabbed yesterday.

QueenPaw · 01/03/2021 12:36

@Howshouldibehave I imagine that's because of dates. To have your second one now you would have needed to have had the first at the start of December so kind of right at the start so I guess HCPs and group 1 will be the earliest for the second jab

TailEndCharlie · 01/03/2021 12:42

I am in my 40s and in group 6 (for T2 diabetes but I am a diet and exercise one so unmedicated) and I was allowed to book on the national system. Had mine at a local racecourse yesterday. And i could book my second for May too. Always try the website - you may get lucky.

FlyingBurrito · 01/03/2021 12:43

@LoveYourUsername

I know this keeps being posted but if you are in England and over 60 you don't need to wait to be called, just book yourself in

@FlyingBurrito You sure? None of my 60 -64 friends have or know that.

Link?

Clearly @LoveYourUsername none of your friends frequent the covid board on here Grin

tangoboxing · 01/03/2021 12:49

@TailEndCharlie that's great! There are definite blips & oddities - my dad is group 5 but also has a heart condition which would put him in group 6 if he were younger ... he booked a group 5 appointment online but was sent a group 6 appointment by his GP which was a week sooner.

lockdownalli · 01/03/2021 12:52

It does seem quite random. Where I live (Sussex) practically everyone over 50 has been vaccinated or received their appointment, only one friend I can think of hasn't heard yet, so we are definitely going to be doing under 50s this month.

FlyingBurrito · 01/03/2021 12:53

@JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn

Mid 50s and not called yet...
Why would you have been?

The article says that over 50s are due to be done this month, the month is less than 13 hours old Grin

@CavernousScream

I suspect many people in their 40s and in group 6 will end up getting their invitation via the national booking system (as part of group 10 and 11) before they get their GP invite as part of group 6. The group 6 roll out is so much slower than the others. Not creating a system for group 6 people to access the vaccine hubs isn’t ideal.
It's not generally access to the hubs or the GP's capacity that are the limiting factors though. It's the identification of people in group 6, regardless of where you send them for it after they've been identified.

It probably would have made more sense to just do it all by age after group 5, but then people would have complained about that too.

Depends on the area anyway though, how fast things are going. My partner was put in group 6 (though he doesn't meet the criteria, but GPs have some leeway) and was offered it a few weeks ago.

kirinm · 01/03/2021 13:05

I'm group 6 and still haven't been called. Maybe I'll get lucky with the over 40 group.

TheyIsMyFamily · 01/03/2021 13:06

Over 50, in a school daily, not called yet. Argh!

vickibee · 01/03/2021 13:07

i am an unpaid carer and our gp has run out of vaccine and are doing band 5 next. think it is unfair that we cannot book via 119 just because we earn slighlty over the threshold for CA. So if I didnt work I would be able to book

ItsIgginningtolooklikelockdown · 01/03/2021 13:08

Scotland, over 50s due to be middle of April.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/03/2021 13:10

I'm in Scotland and my MIL (70) just had hers last week, but my colleague who's early 50s with no health conditions had a letter through at the weekend. I wonder if it varies depending on your GP surgery? There's no online booking system here, so everyone is just waiting on a letter.

grannycake · 01/03/2021 13:10

It is only in England you can book online - it's not available in Wales or Scotland

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/03/2021 13:11

@ItsIgginningtolooklikelockdown cross posts re Scotland - my friend is next Thursday (11 March) so it really must vary!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 01/03/2021 13:11

I'm group 6, late 30s. I suspect it'll be quite some time before I get mine. I drive past a mass vacc centre a few times a week on my way to work...can't book online though.

minniemoocher · 01/03/2021 13:12

Over 60's were only called from today so I doubt I'll get mine before 1/4. Dp is in next group though and dd got called (group 6) last Friday but can't book online, only available at her drs 140 miles away at university Hmm

KaleJuicer · 01/03/2021 13:13

@vickibee I earn too much for carers allowance but booked in about a minute via 119 as the GP has me coded as a carer so they could see via my record. I'm getting jabbed tomorrow at the local hospital (our GP isn't part of the programme).

Good grief Judy I wish that was me. Maybe she has a condition you don't know of? I will be back at work in a secondary school before I've had mine.
MaudesMum · 01/03/2021 13:16

Just back from being injected having booked online last week (60+). I think it makes a lot of sense to book online if you can and don't mind travelling a bit. (I went all of 5 miles for mine - to a pharmacy in the next town) - as it takes pressure off the GPs and leaves spaces for people who can't travel. I was allowed to book my second appointment when I booked online, which I found really reassuring and is, again, one less phone call for my GP to do.

You don't say what age you are but at the current rate of 400,000 - 500,000 per day they could easily do over 10 million jabs in March which I believe would cover everyone between 50 and 69 and loads of them have already been done under other categories
RaininSummer · 01/03/2021 13:19

On the South West here. I have a feeling that over 50s won't be until mid April. We have an older demographic here I think and am only just working through over 60s and carers etc.

WombatChocolate · 01/03/2021 13:22

Just to reiterate again, people of 60 and above DONT have to wait to be called. They don’t need a letter. They can book on the national booking site. It clearly says people can book if they have EITHER met the age criteria OR a had a letter inviting them to book. They don’t need to wait for the letter.

Tell them to go onto it and just their date of birth and name etc will link them to being eligible.

moggiek · 01/03/2021 13:23

I’m 62. Not been called yet.
