Over 40s will be called for vaccines this month

Reasons to be cheerful, March edition: According to the Telegraph, aka the Tory intranet, 40s vaccination is a couple of weeks away, and right on target: www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/03/01/over-40s-covid-vaccines-rollout-track-begin-month/ (paywall, but the headline says it all)

Good news for those of us in our prime (cough ahem) Wine Brew

All these people commenting about knowing over 60’s not vaccinated - they need to book themselves in. It’s not hard, just go onto the NHS website & get it booked! Don’t wait for your GP, they are now only focusing on the vulnerable in group 6!

The Times is also reporting this today.

It's entirely plausible. Read earlier on the thread. The end of this month is 4.5 weeks off and at current rates over 12.5 million would be done in that time, more than completing groups 1-9.

They are planning a big surge too. Things will change a lot.p
The moaners saying their area is 2 weeks behind, will forget exactly when they had it in the wider scheme of time. All of Group 6 will be contacted in the next couple of weeks.

Just tell those eligible to get on the site and book. That's what speeds it up.

It only opened for over 60’s a day or so ago. It still said 65 on Saturday in my area, so people won’t know it’s open.

Are things going to slow down again soon, when more people are due for a second jab?

These threads confuse me. I’m 52 and in an area that is supposedly ahead of the game and I haven’t been called yet. Why would they be vaccinating people in their 40s when they haven’t started the 50s yet?

I volunteer in a mass vaccination centre. We’re currently vaccinating 59 and upwards (and have been for over a week) with plans to move down to 50+ within 2 weeks, and then over 40s a few weeks after that. So the reporting sounds right to me.
I am in an area that’s ahead with vaccinating however, and we’re up on the leaderboards for vaccinating the highest percentage of over 65s etc.

For those of you still waiting for letters, or in your 50s and up, try booking via the national booking system. You might be pleasantly surprised: www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/

My Dad is 63 and still hasn't been called up, so 40s in 3 weeks seems unlikely.

My surgery certainly isn't focusing on group 6 Hmm

He can book in via the national booking system - he doesn’t need to wait for a letter!

So I don't know if I'm lucky or not

You're lucky. Literally billions of people around the world would like to be as lucky as you.

It does seem to be very variable. I know two late 40s people in rural Home Counties who were called a couple of weeks ago. No underlying conditions. They were perplexed but happy. Hopefully all areas will catch up soon.

I agree with wombat that it is possible to get to over 40's at the rate we're going - but two caveats to that - one vaccine supply and we'll see an increase in second doses needing to be factored in and as those are time critical it may be that first doses in some localities get squeezed a bit from time to time

We're in our 50's and had ours yesterday. GP surgery in a small town surrounded by villages, so no mass vaccination centre for us - both GP surgeries are working together. They said they'll start inviting the over 40s mid March - they've already invited all the over 50s and vulnerable. We asked when our 19 year old DS was likely to be called (no medical conditions) and they said their current projection would be May! There's only about 20,000 people in the town and surrounding villages so they're well ahead of the large towns and cities with much larger populations. They also said they'd had virtually no "no shows" at all. Apparently maybe 5-10% of people invited hadn't made an appointment yet.

It is area dependent, but this is so amazing to see!

Are they missing out the over 50's?

Report
Didkdt · 01/03/2021 11:01

Most GP practices are running hun centres if you think you should have had one by now email the practice and check. I ended up doing that and was told I’d been taken off the list because of allergies the hospital had reviewed the decision and I was back on the list the team booked me an appointment at the hub but I could have gone to any centres

We asked about second doses and they said they're adding extra days to do them so they shouldn't slow down the roll out for the first doses. They were doing second doses on Saturday and first doses yesterday.

P.S. I'm pretty sure group six can book online via 119, as I rang with a query last week and he said "if you're vulnerable I can book you in"

  1. Was vaccinated in Group 6 last week but got a Group 7 booking letter this morning.

Though of course it’ll be area dependent

That's what I'm thinking. It depends of the population make up in your area.

Is there a national booking system for Wales -that link is England only?

@edwinbear

I'm Group 6 and not been called, but I can see Group 7 are now eligible to book via the national booking link. I can't understand why they wouldn't open Group 6 up first Confused

Phone your GP surgery. I haven't been called but when I asked they are booking in group 6 now.
