Group 6 - what does yours say?

Hi!

Following on from a post last night - a poster showed what happened when she tried to book her CV teenage daughter a vaccine via the online booking. I understand you cannot book online and only once your GP has got in touch. The poster showed a screenshot stating that her daughter wasn't able to book via the system but to call her GP as she had been allocated a vaccine.

I then went on to have a look at what the booking system said about CV DS and I. DS's said the same as the posters daughter, however mine didn't - it just said you aren't currently eligible.

I'm now concerned I've been missed out of the group - even though I was told a couple of weeks ago by my GP that I was in group 6

So my plea! If you know you're group 6 eligible would you please have a look and see what the online booking system says for you? I'm wondering if I should be checking with my GP (although I'd rather not pester unnecessarily!). It's just odd be both had different messages..

Thanks!

Mine says:

You are not currently eligible to book through this service
If you’ve already had your first dose of the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine at a GP surgery or hospital, contact them to book the second dose of the vaccine.

I had my first dose this week.

Lemons1571 · 28/02/2021 16:11

Mine says not eligible too

PinkBuffalo · 28/02/2021 16:15

Mine says not Eligible as well
I only checked cos people were telling me I could get it
I do not think I am particularly at risk though so I will just wait for letter from doctors

rosesinmygarden · 28/02/2021 16:16

Mine says not eligible too.

I was upgraded to group 6 two weeks ago.

I'm planning to call the surgery anyway if I've not heard in the next 2/3 weeks.

QueenofLouisiana · 28/02/2021 16:18

Mine said not eligible, the following day I got a call from the GP. I was vaccinated on Thursday, a week after my phone call.

FenceSplinters · 28/02/2021 16:21

Mine says not eligible. I check every day but I suppose I will hear from the doctor. I’m hoping I get a letter rather than a phone call as I won’t be able to answer at work.

rosesinmygarden · 28/02/2021 16:23

All of you who it says not eligible yet, or who have been vaccinated... do you know why you're group 6?

Mine is because I have a BMI of 40. I wonder if they are doing group 6 by condition as I know several people who use the same surgery and are in group 6 for other reasons but are younger than me
They've been vaccinated.

TheCatWithTheFluffyTail · 28/02/2021 16:26

Mine says not eligible but I’ve already had my first dose.

FenceSplinters · 28/02/2021 16:30

Mine is because of my BMI too. I have a friend in group six, for a different reason, and with a different doctor, and she had her first jab a couple of weeks ago.

QueenofLouisiana · 28/02/2021 16:32

@rosesinmygarden I’m group 6 due to asthma and a congenital heart problem. I’m mid-40s.

SunnySomer · 28/02/2021 16:36

Mine says not eligible too. Mine’s because of a chronic health condition, but I’m in my 50s and working in a school so feeling a bit anxious. Haven’t rung the GP partly because I know our surgery is working really slowly but also because they have flags all over their websites telling you not to

rosesinmygarden · 28/02/2021 16:41

@SunnySomer yes, I'm resisting the urge to phone them to double check.

I work with primary children and will be back to face to face at the beginning of April so I'm just hoping I've had the jab by then. I certainly think people in group 6 working in certain jobs should be more of a priority but I guess that's very tricky to admin. Especially when the surgery won't let you phone them about it.

I'm in a similar boat, I work in early years and every day feel anxious - I just want to feel safer. Our GP website says not to call about vaccines so I'm conscious to not be a pain!

Having seen the replies here I'm still hopeful to get my text soon...!

Most group 6 are being called through GP who are deciding who gets it first, as group 6 is quite big.

FenceSplinters · 28/02/2021 16:44

I’m a teacher too, and I was so hoping I’d have my first jab before we are back in the building full time, but that’s tomorrow and I’m still waiting 😔

Ah, so they are doing it via sub groups then? Are you a GP? Wondering if they are leaving the high bmi people until last.
yomellamoHelly · 28/02/2021 16:47

Mine said we weren't eligible to book online and directed me to the GP. (Me and one of dc qualify.) Phoned GP who said we'd missed a call to come in. (In fact they'd managed to input the wrong number into their system so we didn't get a call.) Now they haven't got any vaccines left and don't know when more are coming in. So I've been told we have to continue to wait. Total mess!

Thimbleberries · 28/02/2021 16:47

Mine says not eligible. I was contacted by the GP. Their website says that it's a computer algorithm that goes through the records looking for various codes and words that mean you are likely to be in Group 6. It very specifically says don't call them to find out why, and that they don't have the resources to look into it, and it just clogs their phone lines. They say to just accept it, and if it's an error, it's worked in your favour and it's better to just get it done. They say that of the list of Group 6s, they are then working down in age order, and they update it every so often to say where they've got to, so that you can judge if you should have been contacted yet. They are mid-40s now i think.

needadvice54321 · 28/02/2021 16:48

@rosesinmygarden - I thought I'd read that high BMI people were being called first? May have imagined that though! BlushGrin

Don't say that! I'm so worried I'll get missed out as they only moved me into group 6 2 weeks ago.

My main concern is I get missed out and don't get a vaccine at all. Don't mind waiting a few more weeks...

Beeeees · 28/02/2021 19:11

Not eligible. Neurological condition. My GP is pretty awful though so I'm expecting a long wait.

My cousin has booked and that was high BMI.

I wonder if it changes when your doctor is actually in the process of arranging it.

PuzzledObserver · 28/02/2021 20:47

The national booking site said not eligible. But then I got a text from my GP with a link to a completely separate booking system. No choice of venue, I could only book for the centre which is being run by a consortium of GP’s at a local golf club. It’s a very slick operation, apparently running 8-8 7 days a week, just like the hubs.

Beaniecats · 28/02/2021 23:24

Not eligible on link
Epilepsy is clearly listed as included on group 6 but GP surgeries are excluding it (accordingto patient experiences reported to Epilepsy Action. . I haven't heard anything from my gp and don't imagine I will either

Beaniecats · 01/03/2021 14:21

For group 6 waiting people I've had a call this morning from gp booked in next week. Restored my faith in system a little bit Smile
