Group 6 - what does yours say?

Hi!

Following on from a post last night - a poster showed what happened when she tried to book her CV teenage daughter a vaccine via the online booking. I understand you cannot book online and only once your GP has got in touch. The poster showed a screenshot stating that her daughter wasn't able to book via the system but to call her GP as she had been allocated a vaccine.

I then went on to have a look at what the booking system said about CV DS and I. DS's said the same as the posters daughter, however mine didn't - it just said you aren't currently eligible.

I'm now concerned I've been missed out of the group - even though I was told a couple of weeks ago by my GP that I was in group 6

So my plea! If you know you're group 6 eligible would you please have a look and see what the online booking system says for you? I'm wondering if I should be checking with my GP (although I'd rather not pester unnecessarily!). It's just odd be both had different messages..

Thanks!

Group 6 is being organised through gp hubs, not the central booking system. So you need to wait for call, text or letter.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 01/03/2021 14:27

Not eligible on link, booked through GP - text the day after Gp 6 announced, and done 10 days later. Not about BMI.

TailEndCharlie · 01/03/2021 14:58

I am group 6 and had it through central booking system yesterday. I had a letter saying I could book through the central system or do nothing and wait for my GP to contact me.

dogsaremypeople · 01/03/2021 15:24

Mine says not eligible but got a call from my gp this morning to get booked in

Oh I know, I just thought it was weird that DS and I had different messages on the website - making me wonder if I was actually in group 6

My daughter is group 6. The NHS link wouldn't let her book.

The day after she got a text from nurse in her practice inviting her to book via their system. Her jab is on Saturday.

rosesinmygarden · 01/03/2021 19:42

I'm being vaccinated on Friday! So it seems they are definitely working their way through group 6 at my surgery
.

CometCupidDonnerBlitzen · 01/03/2021 19:49

It's my husband (group 6) who is still waiting. His says he is not eligible online. However he had a text from our GP this afternoon saying it's his turn but they have no vaccine. So they're sending a letter that will allow him to book for elsewhere. No idea if this will be the big hubs or something else.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 01/03/2021 22:33

Mine says not eligible at present.

I’m group 6 and surgery have confirmed that I am.

But they are specifically asking people not to call.....

Further update. Yesterday afternoon my husband (CV) got a text to say he was being invited but they had no vaccine so he would get a link to book elsewhere. We tried the site straightaway but nothing had changed. So we tried again late last night and are now booked for Saturday.

We put his NHS number in (for what seemed like the millionth time) and it asked him if he was CEV. He's not but it's the first time seeing a different message. Out of curiosity he clicked yes and it asked for a postcode allowing him to book. So we went back and did it again but clicked no (he's CV downgraded from CEV and too honest to fib about it) and it still asked for a postcode and let him book. This is really interesting as when he spoke to the doctor over a week ago he was told he was no longer CEV and had to wait for a vaccine at the surgery, He chatted with the doctor about his medical history and how worried we were about sending the kids back to school and the doctor was lovely and said he would see he gets it soon. My husband said he was willing to travel for it but he was told it wasn't actually possible to flag him for the big hubs as he didn't meet the criteria for them. Made all the more irritating when I had mine (flagged CEV for gestational diabetes 5 years ago) and the hub seemed almost empty! So is this a sign things are changing for CV patients? The site asked if he was CEV or a NHS worker and he said no to both but was still able to book in. It would seem to me doctors ARE able to flag you for the larger hubs.

OnlyTheLangoftheTitBerg · 02/03/2021 06:21

Mine says not eligible, but I know from my CEV DH’s experience that I will be contacted separately by text from the booking system used by the vaccination hub our GP has joined. I’m registered as his carer and I’ve had confirmation from the local carer’s association that I’m Group 6, I am eligible and I will be called up within the next 4-5 weeks so I’m just trying to be patient.

@needadvice54321

I'm CV, When I tried to book online it just said I wasn't eligible. My friend then got a text from our surgery for her vaccination the next day. I was surprised as I'm CV G6 for sure & she's a maybe. So I tried again, still not eligible. Whilst I was thrilled for her, genuinely, she's like a sister to me. I was surprised. Next morning I (and 2 other friends) got texts for that day. The other 2 friends are not clear G6 either, but I'm one of the newly advised to shield group.

So hopefully you'll get yours very soon!

Abraxan · 02/03/2021 07:47

Mine always said ineligible too.

I'm group 6 due the psoriatic arthritis and the medication I take for it.
I originally had shielding letters but the told I didn't need to shield.

I was feeling anxious last months as there seemed no way of checking you were definitely flagged. I had a routine nurse appointment and asked when there. It was in the system - tbh I could see it on the screen as soon as I arrived - was flagged as group 6 for sure.

I asked at the desk how long and was told it could be a while as they'd only just started inviting group 5. I asked to join a 'last minute appointment accepted' list. They took my name but weren't very encouraging re timings. I'd explained I was returning to school and had been hoping it would be before March 8.

As it happens they called me the very next day and I got the vaccine a week later - 6 days ago.

So it's worth checking with them if you can.

It does seem a slight flaw in the system when it comes to group 6. No real way of checking you're flagged correctly and the system can't deal with group 6 for the national site.

My surgery specifically says don't call for any reason, not even to find out why you're in group 6. They've had their phone lines clogged up by that, and they say to just come. If it's a computer error that's worked in your favour, then lucky you, they say. But they are pleading for people not to phone.

Different if you know they have finished group 6 and you've still not been called, or that sort of thing. But if you don't know why, just go anyway. It's an algorithm that looks for key words and codes in your notes and something will have triggered a group 6 flag.
