Anyone have AZ and has been side-effect free?

Or very minimal?

Reading the threads and thinking I picked a very bad day for the jab. At a chemist’s, bound to be AZ, I think?

@LemonRoses

Who is saying they’re “significant side effects”? A temperature and feeling a bit rubbish for a day or two is mild. I didn’t get side effects. I know some people who did and some who didn’t. Nobody is saying it’s the majority but there are some people who will. It’s helpful because people might like to plan their jab on a day off work or whatever. Uptake of the vaccine has exceeded the government’s expectation so it can’t be causing much harm!

I'm mid 40s and got AZ Saturday lunchtime. Got a really sore arm after 3 hours, then spent whole of Saturday night awake with chills and temp of 39. Not even paracetamol and ibuprofen helped. By 12pm Sunday I was mostly fine. Still got a bit of a sore arm and feel a bit tired.

I think my reaction was unusual and I've had many vaccines and inoculations and never had a reaction. Still better than getting COVID so I'm not too bothered about the second dose.

Zoink · 01/03/2021 15:36

It's good to know that some may not have symptoms but some will. I wasn't able to even go for a walk until day 7. I haven't actually been ill for well over 3 years, not a cold or cough or anything so I expected I'd be okay. Not sure why, but I did Grin It is good to prepare in case you'd like to book some time off work just in case - and if you end up fine then go into work or enjoy a couple of days off! I'm still not at all put off by the second dose, I wasn't scared nor anxious even at the worst times of the side effects. I just thought I need to sleep and rest up, my body is doing what it needs to do. I have recorded my symptoms on that website someone put the link on here to.

I'm planning on going sick if necessary, I'm not wasting my precious holiday or weekend time!

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 01/03/2021 18:01

No side effects whatsoever.
Neither did my parents.

I am sure we hear more from and about those who were unlucky enough to feel ill afterwards. It did make me apprehensive. But could barely feel where the needle went in.

CeeJay81 · 01/03/2021 18:08

I'm hoping I don't get ill with it but my hubby was very rough the next day. I didn't have enough notice to book day off work but I've informed them, so they have it covered, just in case(only holiday ive got left is my birthday). So I'll be phoning in sick on Saturday if need be. Good to hear that many people don't suffer with the side effects though, hopefully I'll be lucky.

MaureenMLove · 01/03/2021 18:09

Nothing for me. Although I do have rheumatoid arthritis, so I may have missed the side effects, due to usually being in some sort of pain!

ilovesooty · 01/03/2021 18:11

No side effects whatsoever not even a sore arm.

Onelifeonly · 01/03/2021 19:21

Just had mine a couple of hours ago so don't know yet. But know a lot of colleagues and others who have had it. DH felt tired and slightly nauseous for a few hours the next day. Most colleagues mentioned something but only 3 have had to take the next day off work.

Have heard that younger people more likely to have side effects but that's probably rubbish. Everyone I know who has had it is aged 40s to 70s anyway.

PurplePlain · 01/03/2021 19:23

Me. Was told to take 2 paracetamol just in case I got a temperature. Felt fine, no symptoms.

rosie39forever · 01/03/2021 19:34

I'm 51 had the AZ last Thursday, bit of a sore arm but have felt absolutely fine, my in-laws and mum had it too with no side effects.

user1471453601 · 01/03/2021 19:40

I had AZ on 1st feb. The only reaction I got was a sore arm, much like I get when I have the flu vaccination. And I super react to many drugs. I've adversely reacted to five prescribed drugs in recent years.

Zoink · 01/03/2021 19:42

I don't really understand why I got it so badly. My parents didn't suffer more than a couple of days, neither did my in-laws. My sister and bro-in-law and a friend all had it and no side effects.

Does anyone know what it means it you suffer bad side effects? It totally wiped me out 😂 I'm laughing bc I feel in the only person 😂

Davros · 01/03/2021 19:43

Yes. Both DH and I had no side effects from Ox-AZ

Kazzyhoward · 01/03/2021 19:44

We both had it this weekend, no side effects at all except slight aching around the injection site.

DenisetheMenace · 01/03/2021 19:45

My mum and stepdad (81 and 74), no side effects at all.
Husband (61) early afternoon today.
So far, so good.

One of the clever bods said on Today Programme last week that it was a good sign, indicates very healthy immune response.

Soontobe60 · 01/03/2021 19:49

AZ here, no side effects.

Zoink · 01/03/2021 19:51

@DenisetheMenace

I'll take that 😂

DenisetheMenace · 01/03/2021 19:53

Today 19:51 Zoink

Me too. Actually hoping beloved husband wakes up feeling like crap Grin

Zoink · 01/03/2021 19:56

@DenisetheMenace 😂😂😂😂😂

I'm only 35 but have bipolar so was given it. My partner hasn't had his yet so will be interesting to see how he is when he does!

pastaparadise · 01/03/2021 20:00

No side effects - I'm 45 for context

If the bid on the radio was correct, I suppose it would logically follow that the younger you are, the worse you may potentially feel

After a year of shielding our CEV dad/husband, I can’t tell you the relief our son and I are feeling today. Especially so after today’s brilliant news, 80% protection from serious disease and hospitalisation 3 weeks after one jab is phenomenal.

If there’s an Epidemiologist Calendar, 2022, I’ll buy it!

DenisetheMenace · 01/03/2021 20:04

Bod, not bid. Fat fingers

Zoink · 01/03/2021 20:30

@DenisetheMenace Gosh, what a relief for you all! That makes me feel happy Smile
