Or very minimal?

Reading the threads and thinking I picked a very bad day for the jab. At a chemist’s, bound to be AZ, I think?

Yes, me. Very glad to have had any vaccine against Covid.

RedcurrantPuff · 26/02/2021 20:24

Minimal here so far, sore arm and a little bit fluey, I had it yesterday.

Choconuttolata · 26/02/2021 20:34

Me, had it yesterday so far arm just slightly numb at injection site. Slight headache this afternoon, but did not require pain relief. Think I was slightly warm last night as kicked off covers, but didn't wake.

CeibaTree · 26/02/2021 22:49

I had it a couple of days ago. No side effects apart from a slightly sore arm, and I had the best night's sleep I can remember the night of the vaccine! I did take preemptive paracetamol throughout the day of the vaccine and the day after so maybe that helped too.

Shitzngiggles · 26/02/2021 23:00

I'm 58. No side effects at all.

Downthefarm · 26/02/2021 23:01

My mother in law had no symptoms at all.

QueenPaw · 26/02/2021 23:05

Yeah my 70+ parents were fine. Dad "went food shopping, did a quick 5 mile walk. Sore arm? No?"
Me Angry unwell with it but only a short time, maybe 12hrs and felt fine 24hrs later

WithMyOldCockLinnet · 27/02/2021 09:26

24 hours later, very localised slight soreness, no other symptoms. Smile

72 hours later for me now. I was fully expecting to be laid up in bed for a couple of days but I have a slightly sore arm and I felt really really hungry the next day but that's it :) It does seem to have made me sleep deeper the past couple of nights so that was a plus point for me!

Zoink · 01/03/2021 07:57

I had it and felt horrendous for a week. Like my body was totally wiped out. For the second dose, I shall make sure I have help with childcare so I can get full rest and then perhaps it won't be such a long time.

maras2 · 01/03/2021 08:02

Had mine last Monday.
No side effects whatsoever.

LindaEllen · 01/03/2021 08:09

DP has an achy arm and it's still red and hot to touch 5 days later. But that's all he's had.

Zoink · 01/03/2021 08:19

I'll add that I was happy to feel ill all week knowing I had had the vaccine, and have no reservations about the second dose.

Haenow · 01/03/2021 08:19

In my 30s and had the oxford AZ vaccine in January. My arm was slightly sore but not particularly and it wore off very quickly. I wouldn’t even describe it as painful. I had no other side effects. I feel worse after the annual flu jab!

StrangeAddiction · 01/03/2021 08:34

The people who I know that have had AstraZeneca have been poorly.
91 year old mil, ended up phoning an ambulance but wasn't admitted.
My nana had a headache the next day and stayed in bed all day.
Dh's cousin, late 20's/early 30's social care worker couldn't get out of bed for two days.

My dm and dad had Pfizer and no side effects reported - actually dm said her arm felt heavy if she held it up past a certain point.

I get mine tomorrow not sure which one so I'm nervously excited! I could do without side effects though, whichever vaccine it is!

LemonRoses · 01/03/2021 08:36

I don’t know anyone who has had significant side effects beyond a minor soreness of the arm. I’m sure much is psychosomatic and fear.

FuzzyPuffling · 01/03/2021 08:41

Stuff off with your "psychosomatic and fear" business!
I, for one, have an auto immune condition in which side effects from vaccines ( not just this one) are well documented.

reprehensibleme · 01/03/2021 08:42

Ddad in his nineties no effects at all, his neighbours in their eighties bit of a sore arm for a few days, dsis fifties no effects, dfriend fifties felt achey and had temperature for a day.

lynsey91 · 01/03/2021 08:56

I had AZ 2 weeks ago. No effects whatsoever. I never even felt the needle go in which I always do with the flu jab. I always have a sore arm for at least a week after that.

DH had no side effects nor did one sister and brother in law. Other sister did have flu like symptoms for 2 days.

Of all the people I know that have had it far more have had no side effects at all. Most are in their 60's although a couple are only 20's

Haenow · 01/03/2021 09:17

@LemonRoses

Not sure if such a vast number people can scare themselves into a high temperature but sure, whatever you say!

Karmatime · 01/03/2021 09:21

No side effects for me or DP, we had it 4 days ago.

LemonRoses · 01/03/2021 09:28

Haenow I think spreading the myth that the majority have significant side effects is dangerous and not evidence based. The overwhelming majority get no side effects at all.

Even in a study of self reported side effects only 14% said they had one systemic side effect - aching, headache or raised temperature. None were sufficient to warrant medical attention so are entirely invalidated self reports.

Only 37% reported even local effects such as a small swelling or sore arm.

Yes, lots is bandwagon, anxiety, overreacting to very minor issues or psychosomatic.

FuzzyPuffling · 01/03/2021 09:38

lemonroses you're getting really offensive with your "making it up" nonsense now. Desist.

No, stating facts. It’s offensive scaring people into thinking they’ll likely have significant side effects and reducing the uptake of the vaccine. That puts lives at risk - a very serious side effect indeed and one that can be validated.

The studies show very clearly that very few people get even mild side effects.

FuzzyPuffling · 01/03/2021 10:46

And some people do get significant side effects. Even the leaflet accompanying the vaccine says "more than 1 in 10 get this". Sure, more than 8 out of 10 people won't get side effects, but a substantial number will. And will be fine after a few days.
Doesn't necessarily put people off being vaccinated.
Suggesting they are making it up is just unpleasant.
