Lymph Nodes

I had my 2nd vaccine two days ago. Last night I had a pain under my left arm. I have woken up this morning with a lump on my clavicle. Presume it is a reaction to the vaccine.

Has anyone else had this? Did a brief Google search and it said to delay mammograms as the vaccine can mimic breast cancer symptoms.

I believe it’s the body’s way of the vaccine working by building up the antibodies.

Missmonkeypenny · 25/02/2021 08:09

I had mine last Wednesday and also have one on my clavicle! Raised lymph nodes are a side effect listed in the leaflet, especially ones on the side you had the vaccination. I'm planning on sending an E-consult if it hasn't gone in a few weeks.

Rillington · 25/02/2021 08:13

My Dad had a pet scan just after his vaccine. The nurse said all his lymph glands were up and asked him if he had been for his vaccination.

Dominica21 · 25/02/2021 08:14

Thanks. Its strange that even though I'm aware of what it is, there is still a nagging feeling of what if! Will try to relax and hope they can down soon. The one under my arm so so painful I had to take paracetamol to sleep

I've found my people Grin I asked about this on a different post. Yes, swollen lymph node above collarbone on injection side. I also learned to not google it! Very scary results. So glad it is a vaccine side effect! How are everyone's nodes now? Have they settled down? My AZ vaccine was 3 days ago and the swollen node started this morning, hope it settles soon.

tangoboxing · 28/02/2021 13:42

I did - after my first dose of AZ, lymph nodes up in my armpit & neck on the side where I had my jab. Apparently it's one of the 1 in 100 side effects, they went down over about three days but my armpit was still tender a week later.

Tulipvase · 28/02/2021 13:45

I had this after my flu vaccine, very sore! I think it is a slightly more unusual side effect.

Dominica21 · 28/02/2021 14:14

Jeansntees. Mine are slowly going down, its been 6 days so far. No longer painful, thank goodness.

I always get swollen nodes when I have a vaccine (or indeed a viruses, including colds!)

I'd give it some time and make sure it settles, but it's almost certainly nothing to worry about.

JeansNTees · 28/02/2021 15:07

6 days, wow, OK! Not looking forward to this lingering!

Doireallyneedaname · 28/02/2021 15:10

Didn’t happen to me with Pfizer but makes sense that it would. I did read it was armpit that was most likely.

Nodes can flare up after any injury. My partners groin node flared up after a leg tattoo!

MumOfHals · 06/05/2021 15:38

How are you getting on with this??? I can feel my lymph node along my collarbone, it moves around all over the place!! - I've had bloods and a scan and all normal.

It has been there for nearly 11 weeks. So obviously my mind is working overdrive even though a clear scan and bloods!!!

MummaPI · 06/05/2021 17:39

God am I thankful for this post!
Lymph node on clavicle 11 days post jab. Gp felt another one, said its most likely reactive to the jab.

MummaPI · 06/05/2021 18:48

He also said that it can take 'up to 6 weeks' for them to go down. Mine didn't appear until 2 weeks later so I'll be ready for the second vaccine Grin

RARach · 06/05/2021 20:48

Mine also up came up after the second Pfizer. Didn’t happen with the first. I’m also on immune suppressants so hoping it means my immune system is reacting how it’s meant to!

Qualia81 · 07/05/2021 13:44

Snap! Very mobile lymph node above my clavicle. It came op two days after my vaccine, 12 days ago. I saw GP yesterday who said it's most likely jab and he isn't worried as it's moveable and has reduced in size. I am anxious about it though Sad Can't stop poking it, which doesn't help. I'm sorry you've all got the same thing but it is reassuring x

ShirleyValentine74 · 07/05/2021 15:25

Snap, lymph node swollen above clavicle on side of vaccine. Came up the day after and basically nearly sh*t myself. Its been nearly 6 weeks after vaccine and it seems to be going down slowly but it's still swollen. My doctor didn't seem bothered but had bloods done and they seem fine.

MummaPI · 08/05/2021 09:00

I've had mine a week, came up 11 days after vaccine. Does anyone else find theirs is sore?

Qualia81 · 08/05/2021 09:14

It certainly was sore when it first came up. It's less sore now and the swelling is slowly going down too. But...I keep poking it to check the size. And that does make it sore again! Almost referred pain over my shoulder. The GP said to keep a casual eye on it and to stop poking, as it's soft tissue and it'll become irritated. He said he wasn't concerned if it was going down - even slowly. I do feel anxious about it though, it's clearly set something off for me! How are you feeling @MummaPI?

Qualia81 · 08/05/2021 09:17

Forgot to say, I've had mine 9 days, it came up two days after my vaccine.

MummaPI · 08/05/2021 09:56

I've had the node 7 days now and have woken up feeling under the weather today. I dont think its related. I've had some achy pain across my shoulder too, like a referred pain. I've read its really common with the Moderna, 1 in 10 I think but it has created anxiety in me (which isn't difficult)

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 08/05/2021 10:01

Yes I had this after my second Pfizer. It freaked me out because I had Hodgkin's lymphoma years ago and I get very anxious about anything lymph node related.

I had one on the side of my neck and one in my armpit. All cleared after about 10 days.

Qualia81 · 08/05/2021 11:30

I had Pfizer - but Moderna and Pfizer are both mRNA vaccines and have both had swollen lymph nodes as a common side effect. I hear you about the anxiety - it's horrible. But it's very clearly a side effect of the vaccine and they will go down in time, try not to worry if you can Flowers

MummaPI · 08/05/2021 11:44

Thank you x
