Booking vaccine online

Cupcakefairy12 · 20/02/2021 04:29

I went into the website today to see what it was about and for some reason in my area it was letting me book a slot fir the vaccine. It asked my details nhs no. And am I extremely clinically vulnerable I said no, had I been asked to shield answered no but then it still let me proceed? I am classed as clinically vulnerable but didn’t think (nor does the website state) they are vaccinating fir this category yet. My question is would you book fir the vaccine. There was lots of slots fir as early as today!

If the site lets you book, then you have been marked as eligible in the system.

So book. You aren't doing anything wrong.

Wilkolampshade · 20/02/2021 07:19

Yep. If it let's you book, that's what you should do.

Mindymomo · 20/02/2021 07:32

Yes, definitely book it. I tried every day for my vulnerable husband, it kept coming back not eligible yet. He then got a text with a link to book last week. If you were not eligible you would have got this message.

Billandben444 · 20/02/2021 07:34

Yes, book if it let's you. I had mine yesterday but hadn't got any confirmation email/text with a booking number. I'd taken a screenshot of the booked dates (I always do this when I buy something and delete when confirmation arrives) so had to bumble my way inside. Once there I was on the system and the jab went ahead. So, screenshot any dates and ref numbers just in case!

boomboom1234 · 20/02/2021 07:38

Which area is it? I thought you had to wait to be contacted?

MrsWonderland · 20/02/2021 07:41

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. The front page of the booking site is VERY clear

www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/

ILookAtTheFloor · 20/02/2021 07:53

I've been checking multiple times a day for my mum, it's been 'you're not eligible' until today! She's 64. If it let's you definitely book it, it won't until it's your turn!

Ch3rish · 20/02/2021 08:03

Maybe the link isn't quite working for me but when I click on it I can see where it says that, could you screenshot?

Im not eligible but tried out of interest and it confirmed I wasn't allowed to book yet. Unless the system is flawed in some way Id say go if it allows you to. According to everything I've seen the mass vaccinations sites have loads of spare capacity

happytoday73 · 20/02/2021 08:09

The mayor of G Manchester was yesterday saying that the mass vaccination centres had far to many vaccine appointments not taken and that it should be open to more groups.... letters can't keep up etc.

Especially important before start big push on 2nd vaccines.
If it let's you book it, you are due a vaccine, take the appointment and get yourself vaccinated.

DinosaurDiana · 20/02/2021 08:13

I’m not sure about areas, I thought the site was nation wide ?

Sevensilverrings · 20/02/2021 08:19

It depends which area. A few areas are letting people book via the Queue site. Most areas don’t use it. It’s not the same everywhere, which is confusing....

mootymoo · 20/02/2021 08:32

They are booking groups 1-6 via the website. This means 16-64 cv plus all over 65's.

Zogstart · 20/02/2021 08:34

If you’re CV then you can book. They are on group 5 and 6 now. That will likely be why.

Romanticrights · 20/02/2021 08:52

I had my vaccine yesterday, as I'm a nurse; just to warn, if you select you're a health or social care worker they are asking for proof (work ID) etc - saw several nursery workers get turned away.

Thimbleberries · 20/02/2021 09:20

I don't think all Group 6s have been marked in a way that would let the national site book them even now. My link is still for GP site only.

DinosaurDiana · 20/02/2021 09:27

I’ve just been on and it’s 65+ and the ECV.
My DD has asthma, she hasn’t been offered it yet.

WombatChocolate · 20/02/2021 09:29

When you say you went online, do you mean via the NHS main vaccine booking centre, or some online system your local area is using?

The NHS main booking site still says thesis who are clinically vulnerable (not CEV) cannot book on this system and must wait for contact from GP or whoever.....it won't let me through and I am definitely flagged Group 6.

LittleG69 · 20/02/2021 09:32

My area has swift queue and I booked for my group 6 husband in (heart disease). He hasn’t had a letter but I put it NHS number in and it let me finish the booking. There were hundreds of appointments this weekend

Tommika · 20/02/2021 09:47

If you’re using the NHS website to book and have been able to proceed, then you are eligible

www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/

I’m not currently eligible, and cannot book a slot. I am an unpaid carer so am not yet eligible, if I choose one of the other answers then I am able to proceed to selecting a centre.

As you have said no to the other options, there is presumably something on your record that ticks the box via your NHS number.
Go ahead and get vaccinated

Cupcakefairy12 · 20/02/2021 09:53

Thanks all, I’m booked in for a few days time!

DinosaurDiana · 20/02/2021 09:54

The GP hub that I’m working at is onto group 6.
But a big vaccination centre has just opened up not too far away, so I believe that the rest of the groups will have invitations to that.
The hub will then do people who can’t/won’t travel, plus second vaccines for those that have already been done at the hub.

Moonflower12 · 20/02/2021 09:58

@Romanticrights

Where I live Nursery workers are eligible. I rang 119 and they confirmed it.

We have friends in the East Midlands and they are nursery workers who have been jabbed too* I think it is regional.

  • Having shown work ID.
bagelbaby · 20/02/2021 10:19

It's regional and it's a mess. I know people in their early 50's , not vulnerable having jabs. I am also working with a large cohort of social care staff who have on my had jabs if they got lucky by living in the right region.

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 20/02/2021 11:40

You inspired me @Cupcakefairy12 to check (am asthmatic but wasn't sure it was severe enough) and had gestational diabetes and saw a lot of people had recently been asked to shield in that group.

I'm now eligible! So booked in for this week. Bit nervous actually!

WombatChocolate · 20/02/2021 11:41

Must be due....was that on the national booking site or using a different online booking system that your area use please?
