Vaccination, group 6

LittleG69 · 19/02/2021 20:31

Sorry if this has been covered before. My husband is in group 6 (heart disease). He has not had a letter asking him to book his vaccination. My friend says he can book online (we have Swiftqueue in our area). Is this correct or does he need to wait for an invitation. I’m not trying to jump any queue, we are both relaxed about it

The website doesn’t let you book if your not eligible. Give it a go?

EvilEdna1 · 19/02/2021 20:36

My husband is in the same position and can't book online.

LittleG69 · 19/02/2021 20:36

@Sevensilverrings swiftqueue is letting me book. I had to say he was clinically vulnerable (as opposed to CEV) and he fits the definition in the Green Book

Book it!

Catlover10 · 19/02/2021 20:37

A family member In group 6 was unable to book online , and had to book through his GP once he received a text saying he was invited. It did say in the text he could either ring them to book or book online, but online didn’t seem to work...

RhubarbCrumbling · 19/02/2021 20:39

It seems to vary, my area can only be invited by Gp who are currently still on group 5 due to lack of vaccine and number of people in groups 1-5 in the area. Next city can book themselves online!

FidgetArse · 19/02/2021 20:42

Book online.
As long as you are honest with your answers

YOU DO NOT NEED A LETTER OR TEXT

LittleG69 · 19/02/2021 21:07

Thanks all. I’ve booked it with his NHS number and ticked the box that he’s in the vulnerable group 6 category. There are hundreds of appointments this weekend in our nearest centre

@LittleG69 if swift queue let you book I assume that means his doctors have approved him to have the vaccine (even though you haven't received the letter yet)

LittleG69 · 19/02/2021 21:40

Thanks @yearinyearout. DH grumbling because he thinks he’s queue jumping somehow!

If you have booked via swiftqueue I think it would be wise to take some kind of proof of the medical condition which puts him in group 6.

Just because in theory, anyone could tuck the box to say they are CV. If enough people do it then they may start checking.

To be clear, I don't think he has queue jumped by using swift queue. Glad he is getting the vaccine

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 19/02/2021 21:43

*tick

LittleG69 · 19/02/2021 21:45

Thanks @Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady he’s going to take all his meds just in case

We don't use swift queue in our area but the online booking system we do use requires you to put your nhs number in. If you're not on the GP's list for the vaccine you still can't book it, whatever box you tick. It doesn't just take your word for it that you're eligible.

Yes that's how it works where I am too. However the OP stated that he just had to tick a box when using swift queue. Hence my advice

LittleG69 · 19/02/2021 21:59

@yearinyearout we had to put his NHS number in so I’m hoping it’s ok

I’m group 6. Not been invited yet.

Had a looking on the nhs booking site and put in my nhs number but it won’t let me book yet.

Beaniecats · 20/02/2021 00:17

Group 6, epilepsy
Heard nothing

Cupcakefairy12 · 20/02/2021 04:44

I’m also group 6, not heard nothing about shielding or from GP but when I put my NGS number in it let’s me book. I’m worried I shouldn’t be booking just yet but shall I?

Mindymomo · 20/02/2021 07:38

@Cupcakefairy12. yes, book it if you can and it says you are eligible. I tried for my DH but it kept saying he wasn’t eligible but then he got a text from gp to book. He had it this week.

simbobs · 20/02/2021 07:55

My DH is in Group 6, also heart disease, and is having his today. He got a text from the GP. I had understood that clinically vulnerable were being vaccinated via GP, whilst age related in the same group would go to a mass vaccination centre, if able to get to one. I hadn't realised that you could just book, but it does make sense. It is being managed differently in different areas, but there seems to be more risk of vaccine being wasted than of queue jumping, so go right ahead if you are eligible.

yearinyearout · 21/02/2021 18:43

Well I'm even more confused now. Two of my friends on fb (live locally to me) have announced they have their jabs this week, and are both early 50's no underlying conditions.

Silverstar2 · 21/02/2021 19:00

I'm in group 6 and can't book online as it is only for the CEV or front line workers apparently. I contacted my GP to get an idea of when I may be called as I work in a school with children all day but was told they 'didn't know' when my group would be called. Couldn't even give a rough idea. Great.

It feels like we are so close, and I shall be really pissed off if I catch it when schools all return soon. Christ I already inject myself with insulin 4 times a day, I could do it myself!

I've had to stop reading all the threads on here saying that people have a friend/relative etc who is '25 with no underlying conditions and work from home' who have somehow been vaccinated because quite bluntly it gives me the RAGE.

Cupcakefairy12 · 21/02/2021 19:56

@Silverstar2 you say you’re injecting with insulin. Are you diabetic? When I went today they were asking the people being vaccinated if we knew any people who were in group 6, diabetes being listed as a reason there to go and be vaccinated as a walk in. Maybe worth going to a local vaccination site and seeing as they have spares each day for walk ins

Silverstar2 · 21/02/2021 20:01

Cupcakefairy12 thanks, maybe worth a try.
