Anyone had the vaccine yet?

Hi, not sure what i’m expecting here... I’ve got myself booked in for a covid jab as I’ve got various health conditions.

I’m extremely nervous as my family are anti vaccine... So I’ve not been able to tell them I’m going for it. When I have discussed vaccines with them previously, they’ve told me absolute horror stories- family members becoming paralysed, chip implanted in them, mark of the beast etc.

Can you share your experience of receivingthe covid vaccine?

Following as i have mine on Sunday, though i'm not at all nervous, very excited to getting it.

Yes I have... I had Astrazenica and got flu like symptoms within 24hrs and felt pretty rough for a few days. A lot of my colleagues had the same. None of us had underlying issues, all relatively young.

To contrast my parents late 60s / early 70s with the normally age related issues had AstraZenica and had no side effects at all.

I’d rather the flu symptoms and feel grotty than her covid!

stampsurprise · 19/02/2021 16:49

Was nervous though don’t know why as I get pneumonia one and flu one every year.

I am CEV so felt I had no choice.

Didn’t feel the needle (my monthly B12 injection stings more).

No side-effects at all!

Now I’m worried they only pretended to inject me Grin

*get

stampsurprise · 19/02/2021 16:49

I get pneumonia one every 5 years

Redcherries · 19/02/2021 16:50

I had mine a few weeks ago, did feel unwell for a couple of days but the relief was huge. No mark if the beast, no improvement to phone signal and still able to walk so all good. My 97 year old great aunt had hers yesterday (bit delayed) and other than a sore arm is also fine :)

againstthefamilygrain · 19/02/2021 16:50

Brilliant to hear honest opinions... Hopefully I won’t be too sick or run down afterwards

Had mine end December, no side effects, looking forward to second vaccine.

iamtheoneandonlyyy · 19/02/2021 16:53

@stampsurprise it's spooky you said that. I have the b12 jab too and that's a stinger but today I almost wondered if they'd actually done it Grin

Anothermother3 · 19/02/2021 16:53

I had the Pfizer a month ago and was a bit tired and achey and had quite a sore arm. I’m usually tired so that might be coincidental and toddler sleep related.

Winecurestiredness · 19/02/2021 16:53

I had mine end of last month. it was very calm, very quick and organised. no side effects from the jab except feeling a bit 'fluey' and a sore part of my arm for a day or two. i had lymphoma a few years back so was worried how my immune system would react to it but all was fine

Alfaix · 19/02/2021 16:55

Me, 43- a headache and a bit tired the next day. Like a mild hangover
My mum 72 the same
MIL 75 no symptoms bar a sore arm but she’s hard!
My Dad 75 chills etc for a day- stayed in bed
DH 46 same as my Dad but made more fuss.
All Oxford AstraZeneca
Plan a very quiet next day is my advice. By 24-48 hours later you will be fine.
Getting the jab is a no brainier and anti vaxxers are barking. Who wouldn’t want some immunity to this?

AstonishingMouse · 19/02/2021 16:55

I work in a hospital, all of my team have had their first vaccine. I had no symptoms, some people felt a bit rotten for 24 hours. A couple of people had a single day off work.
To put that in context, most of my team have also had covid. Symptoms ranged from none to an intensive care admission. Most staff are young and healthy and had a flu like illness. A couple however had covid in March and still have some symptoms.

Sunnydays999 · 19/02/2021 16:56

Had mine . No side affects arm sore

againstthefamilygrain · 19/02/2021 16:56

Will they tell you which one you had (Pfizer or Oxford)?

Did anyone feel well enough to go to work straight after? Not sure whether to cancel or not

I had mine in january , I had chemo last year- the list of side effects for chemo are waaaayyyy longer !!
felt achey and hot for a day, sore arm for 2 days, that's all. Good luck! :)

OverSha · 19/02/2021 16:57

Me! 2 hoiurs ago!

I was so excited i was called out of the blue. i have severe asthma and another genetic condition but am under 50 so thought I would be in the next 2 months or so. But I was called up for a Pfizer jab as apparently on a waiting list for the leftovers when people do not take up their jab.

I did not feel a thing. My flu jabs hurt more. i did not it had even been done. They asked if I felt fine and i said I felt great not least because I had a glass of wine at lunch! (I am leave this week).

I am not going to tell anyone IRL in case I get accused of jumping the queue.

I cried with happiness walking home. it feels the beginning of the end. :)

Jojoanna · 19/02/2021 16:58

I had it was fine after,, had an achey arm for a few days. Went back to work straight after the jab

OverSha · 19/02/2021 16:59

I had the Pfizer. They tell you because you get a leaflet with vaccine specific side effects.

(And I got a sticker). :)

ZaZathecat · 19/02/2021 16:59

They give you an advice leaflet which tells you which vaccine you're having and all about expected side-effects etc.
I had mine a week ago, felt a bit rough the following day (achey and tired) and fine the day after that. A very small price to pay!

MsMiaWallace · 19/02/2021 16:59

Had mine Monday.
Felt fine just an achy arm for 2 days.

Honestly you'll be fine. There's a really nice vibe at the vaccine centres too.

Oh12lookanothernamechange1234 · 19/02/2021 16:59

@againstthefamilygrain yes well enough to work it’s not instant feeling poorly. I’d go for it honestly!
Yes thye tell you which one you have

againstthefamilygrain · 19/02/2021 17:01

Thanks everyone, I’m feeling a lot less nervous!Flowers
