Anyone had the vaccine yet?

Hi, not sure what i’m expecting here... I’ve got myself booked in for a covid jab as I’ve got various health conditions.

I’m extremely nervous as my family are anti vaccine... So I’ve not been able to tell them I’m going for it. When I have discussed vaccines with them previously, they’ve told me absolute horror stories- family members becoming paralysed, chip implanted in them, mark of the beast etc.

Can you share your experience of receivingthe covid vaccine?

I had the Oxford one for reference.

Alone97 · 19/02/2021 17:03

I have mine tomorrow, I can not wait.

m0therofdragons · 19/02/2021 17:03

I had my first in December and second in January before they changed the time between jabs. My arm ached but I was at work in the hospital and popped to the clinic then back to work. A small number of staff had to go home as they felt unwell but we’re talking less than 20 out of 2000. I had the pfizer one. You’ll know which and they will write it on the card with the batch number.

stampsurprise · 19/02/2021 17:04
@stampsurprise it's spooky you said that. I have the b12 jab too and that's a stinger but today I almost wondered if they'd actually done it Grin
Yes it’s weird isn’t it? I hope having no reaction still means my immune system will respond to fight off COVID!

I always seem to be worrying about one thing or another!

Ilikegherkins · 19/02/2021 17:04

Had mine a few weeks ago whilst at work. Arm a bit sore the following day but no other issues

Oh apart from a quiet bleeping noise coming from my left arm when I’m trying to sleep.

Sorry - only kidding about the second part x

m0therofdragons · 19/02/2021 17:05

Just to add, I have the flu one every year and the covid vaccine is a lot less fluid going in. It’s really a very tiny amount so you’ll hardly feel it.

corlan · 19/02/2021 17:05

Had the Pfizer vaccine about 6 weeks ago - only side effect was a sore arm for a couple of days. Went straight to work afterwards.
Like others, I felt a bit of the weight of all this miserable time lifting from my shoulders.
Good luck with getting the vaccine, I'm sure you'll be fine!

OverSha · 19/02/2021 17:05

@MsMiaWallace

Had mine Monday. Felt fine just an achy arm for 2 days.

Honestly you'll be fine. There's a really nice vibe at the vaccine centres too.

Yes the vibe at mine was very enthusiastic and chatty and everyone was pleased. There was a mother behind me in the queue bringing her disabled adult daughter and they were both so happy and bubbling over and it was ever so lovely. Everyone chatted in a socially distanced way and the general atmosphere was one of happiness.

And the young army guys herding the line and doing the temp checks were rather sweet (and so terribly scarily young),.

Spied · 19/02/2021 17:08

I had a dull headache but that was all ( my headache actually lasted two weeks so I'm not sure it was anything to do with the vaccine- possibly hormonal or a sign of the times!)
A major side effect was utter relief that I'd had the vaccine. Felt amazing.
( I didn't feel the needle at all either)

Rillington · 19/02/2021 17:16

9 people in my family have now had it including me. The only symptom any of us had was a slightly sore/tender arm. No headaches, no fever, no chills.

Cookerhood · 19/02/2021 17:21

And it says on the card you take away.
Go for it, the only way out of this is to get as many as possible vaccinated.
It's beyond me how anyone thinks there could be a chip in it. If they do chips that small I'd like one for my cat, please. Do they carry a mobile phone? That tracks their every move.

rhowton · 19/02/2021 17:23

My parents 61 and 58 have just had theirs 🙌🏽 my dad was called and my mum went with him and the person in front of my dad didn't show up so my mum had the spare. It's the Pfizer so would have been going to waste at the end of the day and my dads appointment was 4:50

BackforGood · 19/02/2021 17:24

I would say I'm pretty needle phobic was a sobbing wreck in the dentist's chair last month but I can honestly say I didn't feel it. I don't know if this was down to the expertise of the practitioner or if it was because I'd warned them I didn't want to see it and they snuck up from behind or what.
I've felt completely fine. No illness. No side effects. Not even a sore arm. Genuinely 100% nothing.
I had the astra zenica one.

@OverSha - I have sticker envy. I only got a little card and an information leaflet. I want a sticker

m0therofdragons · 19/02/2021 17:27

I did have a headache the following day but I have 3dc so it could have been them more than the vaccine that caused that Blush

I took a photo of my sticker and sent it to my parents abroad. :)

I have a theory that they are using children needles, the very very thin kind. DH had his yesterday and he is also needle phobic and he did not feel anything.

I very genuinely felt nothing at all. My arm feels slightly stiff though so at least I know I was jabbed and it was not a hoax of some sort!!!!

theresnoonequitelikegrandma · 19/02/2021 17:31

My DH and I had the Pfizer yesterday - didn't feel it at all and then just had a bit of a sore arm by the end of yesterday but fine today. He's got a headache today and feeling a bit under the weather but no idea if it's vaccine related. We're both 61 and were convinced that we'd been invited in error but our area (Kent) have just done really well apparently!

MrsOnions0 · 19/02/2021 17:39

Had mine Pfizer 4 weeks ago (due to my job not vulnerability) I’ve not had COVID. Barley felt the injection. Slightly sore arm and bit more tired than usual but then again it may have been because it was a Friday. Mixture at work between who received which vaccine and varying effects. Those with most severe side effects took a day off with flu like symptoms. The majority were straight back working afterwards.

Cookerhood · 19/02/2021 17:44

They are small needles, not children's ones, just regular small ones - it's all that's needed. It's not much liquid either - 0.3mL for Pfizer & 0.5mL for AZ.

DinosaurDiana · 19/02/2021 17:46

Yep, had the AZ. Felt off the next day but a small price to pay.

Livinglavidalockdown · 19/02/2021 18:02

I had the Astra Zenica vaccine on Monday.
I barely felt the injection which was great as I wasn't sure what to expect.
Have had a sore arm for a couple of days and feel a little under the weather, but also pre-menstrual so unsure which is the culprit!

Paleodiet · 19/02/2021 18:06

I had my vaccination (Pfizer) two days ago. No after effects at all.

Gendy5 · 19/02/2021 18:10

Had the Pfizer one - age 66. 8 hours later had a headache, next day no energy - and I mean no energy - a 500 yard walk to the shops left me feeling like there was no way to get back home!

Day after that feeling better but painful arm around the injection site, aching joints, and still weak and fatigued.

Day after that felt fine but I took it very easy.

Next day - 4 days after - felt great.

My sister, few years older than me, had no side effects at all. So however it hits you is how it is.

But if it helps me survive jury service in a few weeks time then my few days feeling a bit off were a very small price to pay 😊

CornishYarg · 19/02/2021 18:10

I had the Oxford one a couple of weeks ago. Had a headache and achy joints for a few hours the next day and then just some tenderness around the injection site for a couple more days. The one day feeling a bit rough wasn't too bad. I didn't fancy going out for a snowball fight with DS but I was fine just reading on the sofa.

caramac04 · 19/02/2021 18:10

Had mine yesterday, felt ropey much of today and my arm was very tender although improving as the day goes on.
I had Covid in the new year and was admitted to hospital, the vaccine is definitely a fantastic thing IMO, our route to some semblance of normality returning.
