TV SHOWS

I keep seeing quiz or chat shows with guests all socially distanced in a studio. Why then can i not see my family and friends in the same set up? 🤔

Probably because your house isn't the same size or as well ventilated as a TV studio?

Ledkr · 16/02/2021 09:20

Yes but they are still in ckose proximity indoors.
I just find it weird and unfair. I know things like the news are essential but chat shows? Also is it essential travel to drive to a studio?

🙄

firesidetartan · 16/02/2021 09:23

Any examples of this televised non social distancing?

Also is it essential travel to drive to a studio?

Each programme provides employment for many people, why would anyone question people who are able to work? We should be supportive of this.

SpinningWheelOfFortune · 16/02/2021 09:32

You meeting family or friends doesn't generate any money or provide anyone with employment. I imagine a fair number of people are employed to make a TV show.

ineedaholidaynow · 16/02/2021 09:34

I didn’t think the current shows did have an audience. They did for a while but not now

GoldenPenPot · 16/02/2021 09:39

You could apply to go on Family Fortunes? You’d get to see your favourite relatives and after being subjected to Gino Di Campo for the day you’d probably be quite happy to go back into isolation for another year.

FlameHairedRachel · 16/02/2021 09:40

There are screens between guests and presenters.

Ch3rish · 16/02/2021 09:40

Can you name a specific programme that has been recorded like that during the current locakdown?

BiddyPop · 16/02/2021 09:41

A lot are having a virtual audience, live on zoom but not in the studio. Or back to old-fashioned piped applause etc.

TinyCake · 16/02/2021 09:42

I think a lot must have been recorded last year

HazeyJaneII · 16/02/2021 09:43

I'm not sure you chatting to your friends and family has quite the same audience draw....

morninglive · 16/02/2021 09:45

I'm sure they are tested before being allowed together.

Grin yes this is true. I think i have forgotten how to say anything interesting.

It's work. You're allowed to go to work assuming the workplace is covid secure. Which these studios are.

casper2017 · 16/02/2021 09:50

I have often wondered this? What makes the entertainment industry more important than say gyms or hair salons etc

ineedaholidaynow · 16/02/2021 09:51

I don’t think Graham Norton has an audience at the moment. It did between lockdowns but not under current lockdown. The laughter you can hear is either recorded, zoom audience or crew

MrsFezziwig · 16/02/2021 09:53

Because they are working and you are not if you’re just chatting with your family.

Seeline · 16/02/2021 09:56

I think the difference is they are working. They are unlikely to forget that they are social distancing and go and hug someone, or have toddlers climbing on their laps. They are not making drinks for each other or sharing food. There are not many private living rooms that are big enough for more than 2 or 3 people to sit at least 2m from everyone else. And then Aunty May can't hear what's being said so you either have to move closer or shout (again helps spread the virus).

Mrsjayy · 16/02/2021 09:56

They are working and imagine they are covid tested.also life would be even duller if all we had on the terrestrial channels was news and endless repeats so they are providing a "service"

BiddyPop · 16/02/2021 09:56

The Last Leg doesn't have an audience either, and guests are well spaced out (as they are on GN).

BeautifulStar · 16/02/2021 09:59

They are allowing tv shows to be filmed simply because they need to entertain the plebs whilst we are in lockdown. There are only so many reruns of catchphrase people will tolerate.

Forced to stay in your homes not seeing family, schools closing etc - no riots.
No “footy”, east Enders or masked singer - there’d be anarchy!!

Mrsjayy · 16/02/2021 09:59

There is no live audience on last leg or Graham Norton and mock the week had zoom audience.
