BJ's elbow bumps

Wouldn't it be better if he kept his distance from others? Why does he feel the need to elbow bump people and not maintain his 2 metre distance? Other MPs have been doing this as well for ages, it's really annoying - there's a more transmissible virus going round, yet they're throwing caution to the wind and hoping their flimsy face masks are like some sort of forcefield stopping any virus particles spreading.

It's sending conflicting messages to the public. It's not necessary. I don't know why the public health bods aren't advising him to stop it!

[Or perhaps they are and he's just being stubborn about it]

Surely with elbow bumping you’re closer to the person than if you just shook hands and then sanitised or washed them? Or better still just don’t do either! Craziness!

Yes, it annoys me so much. I shout at the TV for him to stop it. Not that he can hear of course. Wink

What else is so annoying about him, is his love of 'dress up' and needing to 'have a go' whenever he visits anywhere. Why does he behave like he's a little boy in those situations? I don't hate him like a lot of mumsnetters do. But these sorts of antics are just plain silly.

That's what I can't fathom. Plus I try to sneeze into my elbow rather than on my hands. Pointless, idiotic gesture.

It really winds me up! Elbow bumping isn't even a thing now. It was a thing a year ago, when BJ was insisting on shaking hands instead of elbow bumping. Eleven months ago he brought in social distancing, which doesn't allow for elbow bumping.

Completely agree, OP. He should be setting an example, not wilfully and publicly putting people at risk yet again.

I cant stand it. It isnt social distancing when you are touching but mostly it's just ridiculous
. It gives me such unreasonable anger!
I just have to shout at the TV. "You look like an absolute twat stop it".
I'm sure if I was in some kind of hospital/factory/shop where he is visiting and he held out his elbow i would have to just stare closely at him till he put it down (and then face the wrath of all his communication/PR type people)

It drives me mental! Every time he is on the TV doing some sort of performative dressing up nonsense I say to myself, 'that idiot is going to bloody elbow bump someone is 3...2..1..' and then he does it!

Everyone else stopped doing this a year ago. Why is he making non essential visits anyway. Absolute fool.
