2nd vaccination

Wales, as of tomorrow, are beginning to give the 2nd vaccine to the first people. This will be given at 10weeks allowing 2 weeks for any delays rather than starting at 12weeks and people potentially having 2nd dose later than 12 weeks. Sounds sensible, any idea if this is happening in other parts of UK?

I’m in Wales. My second dose is 11 weeks after the first - this was rescheduled from 4 weeks.

Nursing and residential homes are being scheduled with 8 week gaps.

I don't know the exact dates week wise but my mum (NHS) has her 2nd jab booked for a few weeks time. She was done early January

When I booked my vaccination online, it was for both jabs. The second appointment is 10 weeks after the first. I am in London.

My parents and uncles/aunts who live in the same area have all been booked in for their second vaccine around eight or nine weeks after the first one. We’re in the SE England.

I'm in the NW. My second is 11 weeks after my first. It could have been 10 weeks but the appointments available clashed with other things.

I work in a nursing home in England, we all had ours 4-5 weeks ago and we've now started getting calls to make appointments for our 2nd jabs in March

Most people in London seem to have 10 week appointments

From what has been said by the scientists. 12 week gap is the longest trial oxford did. However you don't just lose antibodies suddenly over night. It would take a long time for them to reduce. So if anyone is delayed a couple of weeks longer it shouldn't be a problem.

I was booked by my GP surgery 2 weeks ago. The online booking system seems aware I have had my first vaccination but it seems I won't be able to book the second one online. It would have been nice not to have to bother the GP surgery again as this is making a lot of work for them.

None of the over 80s, over 70s or CEV in my family have a second dose booked in.

It sounds very sensible to start letting people book at about 10 weeks, so that if clinics are full there's a bit of wiggle room for making the appointment (especially as you have to go to one with the right type of jab).

It would be very wrong if the admin pushed people over 12 weeks

Good to see people over the country have a date for a 2nd vaccination my parents don’t. I assume they are in the minority

Booked today online, and the second appointment slots I was offered at the same time were eleven weeks after the first appointment. South-east thirty miles from London.

My ex, in Bristol, had his first jab last week and the second is booked for ten weeks from then.

It does seem to vary from place to place.

I booked Auntie's online and this is what it said. My parents got a similar message. As far as I know none of the family who've had a first jab know when their second one is yet.

Everyone I know who has had their first jab locally (NE) has an apt for their second exactly 11 weeks after their first.

My parents haven't but DH and MIL were both given a date at time of 1st dose. Seems like a postcode lottery.

It seems to depend largely on where you had your vaccine. Most people booking through a vaccination centre are given their second appointment when they book their first. It seems to be different through GP surgeries.

Aunties was at a vaccination centre but linked to her surgery somehow. (This was not made clear.)

CBJK I know a lot of elderly people who were called by GP/received a letter for vaccination and they haven't had their second appointment yet.

I was given a link as I was entitled through work (different to NHS link that's around), so went through a different system, so that's maybe why some of us have follow up dates. Mine is at 11.5 weeks.

Some second doses in Wales are being brought forward.

My friends was booked for 11 weeks, now it’s 7.

I have no idea why, I thought the idea was to get as many people as possible injected with their first doses.....
