I used to do a 60-mile round trip on a motorway at least once a week until this time last year. Now I haven't been out for more than a couple of miles in the car for many months!
Went out to do a click and collect for something we'd ordered and found myself feeling panicky on the dual carriageway - the noise of the road and the other traffic felt rather overwhelming. Sad

DH went to pay a cheque in at the bank's machine last week and couldn't remember his PIN as he's been paying by contactless/ Apple Pay for everything for months now!

I've been working from home since March and I also find driving a bit overwhelming now. How I coped with that mad dash from school to get to work (and back again) in nightmare traffic, I do not know! I forgot the PIN on my credit card which is probably good thing! I haven't had any cash for months; my son is about to lose a tooth so need to find a shiny £1 from somewhere 😆

I think driving will be fine. I didn’t drive very far last summer; the first time I had a long drive I initially drove a non motorway route until I felt more confident. Just try a shorter journey first.

BogRollBOGOF · 13/02/2021 21:59

Coping in busy places. I never was great with crowds.; being short I tend to get hemmed in with a wall of shoulders. I also find background noise can be overwhelming. One of the small consolations of the past year is venues turning music down so you can actually hold a conversation. The extra personal space in a queue has been easier too.

I am concerned that a year+ of being deconditioned will make it hard to adjust back.

Yes, socializing IRL with actual humans who aren't my immediate family! I think my interpersonal skills have got pretty rusty.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 13/02/2021 22:17

Driving will be fine. I was driving around for over an hour today and it felt normal.

AnxiousAlpaca · 13/02/2021 22:18

I passed my CBT for my motorcycle in August. Then had a crash and broke my ankle in October. Not ridden since, by the time I’m able I’m not sure how confident I’ll feel. Sad

User133847 · 13/02/2021 22:20

I alternate between wanting things back to normal and dreading it.

GeorgeMichaelsEspadrille · 13/02/2021 22:23

High heels. Feel conflicted about them.

usernotfound0000 · 13/02/2021 22:26

I haven't worn make up in 11 months. I used to wear it daily for work but just haven't bothered since being at home. I hope I can remember how to apply it.

Akire · 13/02/2021 22:32

Haven’t worn a bra for about 6months! Even the odd time I pop out it’s so cold so many layers.

2typesofjungle · 13/02/2021 22:33

I won't remember how to do small talk!

echt · 13/02/2021 22:35

I drove at night for the first time since last March last week, coming home from the centre of Melbourne in the nano-second that a return to some kind of cultural life occurred; opera, as it happens. That in itself was weird - crowds. The beach roads are always empty late at night, but it still felt odd. And turning into side roads!!! They are only lit on one side, with very spaced out street lamps and I'd completely forgotten just how dark they are.

Dontsayyouloveme · 13/02/2021 22:37

Yeah, putting make up on!! 😉😆

damekindness · 13/02/2021 22:39

I've forgotten how to wear a bra 🤷🏻‍♀️

LizzieMacQueen · 13/02/2021 22:42

Driving. I found myself going much faster than I'd normally do. It was definitely because of panic.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 13/02/2021 22:43

We've had the number of meetings reduced from 8 to 5. I cant remember how I managed to do everything Im supposed to for 8 meetings.

Titsywoo · 13/02/2021 22:43

Wearing jeans! Haven't worn them for a year!

PurpleDaisies · 13/02/2021 22:45

I couldn’t remember which petrol to put in my car.

RoseAndRose · 13/02/2021 22:48

I completely misinterpreted 'pop our' in that and really thought that was a wardrobe omission too far in this weather
Furrybutts · 13/02/2021 22:48

I honestly think I have forgotten how to interact and make conversation with people.
I've never been very sociable, but because I haven't had to be for a year, I find even simple conversations exhausting.

lurker101 · 13/02/2021 22:49

Yes, I’m pretty scared that I will clap when the plane lands on my first post-covid holiday 😂

FindingMeno · 13/02/2021 22:51

Crossing busy roads!

Akire · 13/02/2021 23:04

DilysMoon · 13/02/2021 23:07

Definitely socialising and chit chat. I have to force myself out usually and haven't really missed it, have kept up with friends via text etc but haven't missed the face to face interaction. Exhausting is the right word, I've even come off social media too as I've less tolerance for other peoples 'noise' even people I really like!

I roll my eyes and swear at my laptop as I wfh, neither are acceptable in the office...
