When did you last have a cold?

Am trying to focus on the positives and realised we haven’t had a single cough or cold all winter and that’s even with DH and I working full time. One of the pluses of not being sneezed on by strangers in Tesco Grin

OP posts:

September 2019. I usually have two per year.

louderthan · 09/02/2021 21:51

This time last year! Haven't had so much as a sniffle since then.

We’ve had loads - but then DD is at nursery and bringing everything home. It’s annoying but I’m actually pleased she’s being exposed to normal winter bugs and building up her immune system.

This people don’t realise but it’s actually why you have an immune system and why it’s important to use it. A few years ago I had about 3-4 in a year and GP said it’s like a muscle you need to use it but take more vitamin C/D as I was worried. It’s not going to be pretty for many people out there thinking all this social distancing is good, lockdown. Tick tock. My last cold was May 2020 lol in lockdown as well but I usually get one a year and don’t pick up the normal stomach norovirus one anyway. Kids have had one fever and slight cold but nothing much really but again they are were fine last year too.

Nov 2019.

1st week of April 2020 - have zero idea where I got it. It was awful - first one I'd had in years and it gave me an awful sinus headache. Lasted 2 weeks.

Whattodoffs · 09/02/2021 22:05

Right now....had Covington in December so certain it's not that. Throat like razor blades, aching and a muzzy head. Just generally feeling blurgh

Dontknowmuchabouthistory · 09/02/2021 22:07

I last had a reasonably mild cold about 3 years ago.

BrokenCircle · 09/02/2021 22:08

It’s been a year, but that’s because I haven’t been near enough to kids in school to be sneezed on.

A few months ago. We had been shielding with my dad and when he went home I was out walking and ended up having to help an old lady cross the road - could have only caught it from her!

emmetgirl · 09/02/2021 22:18

I'm one of those annoying people who never gets colds so I'm of no use to you.

XenoBitch · 09/02/2021 22:20

In the summer. Was not so bad. I think I got it from my mum. She passed it to my dad who went down with full on Man Flu.

Good point about the immune system. My baby is 1 and never had a cold, surely that's not healthy or normal. Our immune systems are designed to learn how to fight off mild bugs when we are children, so they aren't so serious when we are adults.

My older daughter goes to preschool but none of us has had more than a sniffle this year

Refreshing to hear of someone who had a cold in spring last year and didnt automatically assume it was covid
lljkk · 09/02/2021 22:22

January 2020, few years before that was 2nd last.
I get swollen sinuses every winter.
I realise I cough sporadically a lot, never noticed before 2020 !

SnapeSnapeSeverusSnape · 09/02/2021 22:33

I've got one at the moment, but I work in a reception class and 4 year olds are pretty unhygienic even with all the extra hand washing.

Me too. I did have a mild one about 10 years ago I think.

I had 'flu once too, 40 years ago when I was a teenager.

ladycatlin · 09/02/2021 22:38

Last cold was around 20th Dec, daughter brought it home from school. I’ve repeatedly been ill from bugs she’s brought home since September, the first of which I highly suspect was covid. A recent blood test showed my white blood cell count is low, which doesn’t surprise me at all. There haven’t been any colds since she’s been learning from home, thankfully, so I feel like I’ll finally get a chance to recover and my blood test will be normal when I get checked again.

HipTightOnions · 09/02/2021 22:41

My classes last term had colds galore. Or “colds”.

spiralshell · 09/02/2021 22:42

I have a mild one one at the moment but our household hasn’t been anywhere other than for walks in the local area for months, and we get nowhere near anyone else on those. It’s a mystery!

stairway · 09/02/2021 23:06

It’s been a year for me which is great as I’m very susceptible to the common cold. Never got covid though despite working in a hospital. My toddler and preteen have come down with a few colds this winter already. My son has one at the moment despite never having left the house for weeks but I’m getting him tested tomorrow just to rule out covid.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 09/02/2021 23:25

I had the flu after Christmas. Did a covid test it was negative. My husband was unwell too. He did two different covid tests four days apart they were negative. We isolated anyway just in case
.
It was definitely the flu anyway. We have covid last year and that felt like breathing through glass

Jenasaurus · 09/02/2021 23:34

I cant remember, I havent had a cold in this Pandemic at all, so probably 2018/19 at some point

Dowser · 09/02/2021 23:36

Years ago
So long I don’t remember
Maybe 5 years

CodMouth · 09/02/2021 23:37
