How many times have I read that on mn?

Except its not passing, is it

LadyCatStark · 02/02/2021 21:49

No it’s not, it’s getting much, much worse with all these new variants.

Quit4me · 02/02/2021 21:50

But it will pass. It always does. Doesn’t say how long until it does though!

Northernsoullover · 02/02/2021 21:51

It feels like it won't Sad. It will. Eventually.

MargotLovedTom1 · 02/02/2021 21:52

Would you rather be told it's going to go on indefinitely?

ilikebooksandplants · 02/02/2021 21:52

How about ‘if you’re going through hell, keep going?’

It will pass. It’s a fucking ballache though.

dementedpixie · 02/02/2021 21:54

It will pass eventually
Although it will likely still be here but we will have ways to deal with it better. Vaccines can be tweaked as required and may need to be given annually like the flu vaccine

DfEisashambles · 02/02/2021 21:54

If the gov’t had have contained it properly there wouldn’t be so many mutations. It will pass though after thousands of unnecessary deaths.

cantmakealifeofit · 02/02/2021 21:56

The new variants are scary as fuck. I’m just saying that as an average everyday Joe scared of what they see on the media, not from a wannabe scientific perspective before somebody jumps down my throat for trying to scaremonger. I’m just saying how it’s making me feel!

I do think all that BS that was peddled late last year about being in some semblance of normality by Easter is going to die a pathetic death, unfortunately.

Lissy23 · 02/02/2021 22:05

But viruses mutate all the time AND there’s very good news on the Oxford vaccine today too.

Lissy23 · 02/02/2021 22:08

So there is positivity

WoodpileHouse · 02/02/2021 22:10

It scares me going into work every day as a TA.

PurpleDaisies · 02/02/2021 22:10

The Oxford vaccine appears to reduce transmission. That’s excellent news.

jerometheturnipking · 02/02/2021 22:12

I know it will, eventually. One way or another.

But if I have to see one more of those wanky ink drawings with the stupid fucking horse and meaningless word salad, I’ll scream.

SquishySquirmy · 02/02/2021 22:14

It will pass.
Not quickly or smoothly but it will.
Maybe a bit more lockdown-hokey-cokey for a while (in, out, shake it all about!) and no dramatic "it's all over!" day of celebration. Things will slowly get better, things will return to normal.
The effects of the pandemic and lockdown will linger, but they will eventually become memory and the memory will eventually become history. The wound will stop hurting, heal and become just another scar.

It will pass.

SausagePourHomme · 02/02/2021 22:14

The fact that there are variants is not surprising or novel. All viruses do this. They are treating them with an abundance of caution. Don't forget that variants can be less dangerous. It could evolve into a milder form

QueenZoopla · 02/02/2021 22:16

Jerome, what? Horse? Salad? What?!

chaosrabbitland · 02/02/2021 22:18

@MargotLovedTom1

well they might as bloody well do i reckon lol
Thewiseoneincognito · 02/02/2021 22:27

It won’t be passing anytime soon. If anything it’s going to get a lot worse unfortunately. Yes this wave will no doubt slow down but the mutations mean that the swell of the next wave will build a lot quicker than before regardless of vaccines. This is without the Brazilian variant in the picture.

What are you basing this on? Do you have a scientific background?

Oh Christ yes, it’s all so bloody nauseating. Even worse now that Captain Tom’s passed!
ChocOrange1 · 02/02/2021 22:35

@ssd I wouldnt listen to "thewiseone". They are always spouting absolute bollocks without a shred of evidence. Usually followed by "unfortunately", as if they have any idea at all.

catsarecute · 02/02/2021 22:40

We need a zero covid strategy.
There's been a petition approved for it today if anyone would like to sign

"Zero Covid seeks to eliminate the virus. It does so by driving cases down to low enough levels. We then use test, trace, isolate and, crucially, support, to ensure those with the virus are not infecting the rest of the community"

Because some people a) love the sound of the taps on their own doom-mongering keyboard and b) feel a deep need to put the shits up vulnerable people.

Misery loves company. True dat 🙄
