“No onesies please as it makes the children in school jealous”

A message from the head of our primary. Please could all parents at home please ensure their primary children are fully dressed in day clothes ready for their class 9am zoom. No onesies. Apparently the children actually allowed to go to school are annoyed seeing their classmates lounging at home in onesies / pj’s / loungewear.

Ummm, I’m sorry, I thought I heard you issuing instructions on what I must / must not do in my own house. What possible authority does a school have to do this? Kids forced out of face to face education. Being shown some lovely examples of the artwork done by the kids at school over zoom with the caveat “oh don’t worry I know you can’t do this at home”.

Read the room ffs. Just another request to put other people’s children before my own. As it happens my primary child gets dressed of his own accord, but if he wanted to wear a onesie then quite frankly anyone else’s opinion can fuck off.

Physically going to school = uniform worn as per school rules.
Physically barred from school = my house my rules.

No doubt I’m overreacting but it annoyed me!

@RosesAndLemonade and here lies the issues of women killing other women

TwelvePaws · 30/01/2021 18:03

So many people saying their kids go for a shower in the morning then put a clean onsie on, well why not put some clothes on instead.

Because their onesie is comfier. 🤷🏻‍♀️

In fact I see you your onesie and raise you an Oodie ! 🤣🤣🤣

mummyinbeccles · 30/01/2021 18:03

@Blessex

I am leaving this thread as there are women who clearly don’t like other women’s jobs and want to leave them to the men. I don’t.
Wouldn’t it be easier just to apologise for being judgemental and just a little bit mean.

Oh my God I've never killed another woman!

RosesAndLemonade · 30/01/2021 18:03

Have you????

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 30/01/2021 18:04

It's a completely reasonable request. My kids school state they need "appropriate clothing" for Zoom calls.

Tbh even if they didn't I wouldn't want my kids in onesies all day. They need a definition between weekends/weekdays; free time/lesson time. Getting dressed helps with that.

Blessex · 30/01/2021 18:04

@mummyinbeccles instead you are the ones being judgmental that my kids don’t dress up for homeschool

AlwaysLatte · 30/01/2021 18:04

Also, please don't take your anger about not being able to send your child to school out on the school itself. It's tough for everyone but they're doing their best in an extraordinary situation, as I'm sure you are too. Tough times but hopefully soon it will be safe enough to get back into the classroom.

FFS will you turn it in with the dramatics 🙄

Whether you're on the phone to someone in Asia or to Gladys in Birmingham because you're trying to get her to switch energy suppliers

It has shit all to do with this thread.

That's why people thought it was amusing.

Still I'm glad you've stopped crying now as you managed to slip that in a few times too, despite contributing to the thread for the last hour or so.

Blessex · 30/01/2021 18:04

@RosesAndLemonade you clearly don’t like successful women

mumsneedwine · 30/01/2021 18:05

I wore my oodie for teaching last Monday. School was below freezing with the window open and I was in a KW pod so not shutting them. No one cared ! Although mine is black and pretty smart.

I8toys · 30/01/2021 18:05

YABU. Its a reasonable request. If the kids/parents aren't taking it seriously then its on them - a onesie is just a form of pyjamas. Then they'll moan that little Johnny isn't doing any work and I can't get him to sit and concentrate.

Ha!! You really haven’t read what I’ve said.

Could someone kindly explain how we have gone from:

To...

"And here lies the issue of women killing other women"

OP was wondering about a onesie for a zoom, not a murder weapon on the back of her webcam!

QuantumQuality · 30/01/2021 18:06

It’s such bollocks about a uniform helping learning. Before we moved back to the U.K. my DS had never worn a uniform and he and all the other kids were learning just fine. He often does his homeschooling in his onesie and he’s learning fine here too. They’re never allowed their cameras on at home though and they’re quite pragmatic as a school.

AlwaysLatte · 30/01/2021 18:07

@RosesAndLemonade it did make me laugh, though Grin

KinderWild · 30/01/2021 18:07

I hadn't actually realised that onsies are considered nightwear. My son wears PJ's to bed. Gets up, washed and dressed but sometimes chooses to wear a onsie mainly as it's lovely and warm Hmm

Blessex · 30/01/2021 18:07

@AlwaysLatte yep successful women are a joke.

RosesAndLemonade · 30/01/2021 18:08
@RosesAndLemonade you clearly don’t like successful women
Are you suggesting I'm not successful???? How very offensive. I would take a guess my job doesn't pay as well as yours, but I've always wanted to do if, and worked my arse off to be the best I possibly can be at it.

Success does not equal money and how many countries you can talk to on a day.

Now I found your posts random and funny until now but this is just downright mean!!!!!

mummyinbeccles · 30/01/2021 18:08
@mummyinbeccles instead you are the ones being judgmental that my kids don’t dress up for homeschool
I don’t judge you at all for what your children wear but I empathise with the reasons behind the request and think you’re unreasonable to raise such a self indulgent fuss against the children in school and their teachers. Even if you are very important!!

RosesAndLemonade · 30/01/2021 18:09

@Blessex I think either you should go with your original plan of leaving the thread or start to be a little kinder to other people.

Gwenhwyfar · 30/01/2021 18:09

"DH is working from home, I don't think it would be acceptable for him to attend online meetings wearing a onesie..?"

Loads of people WFH are dressing casual. I do think some of the ones who don't have to show their face in meetings (i.e. without camera) are probably still in PJs.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 30/01/2021 18:09
@Iminaglasscaseofemotion my kids choose to shower before bed. Their choice.
So they can just get up and stick a jumper over their pajamas if they want. Doesnt need to be a onsie Confused.

Happy to oblige!

As long as your not more successful than me. If you're more successful than me, I'll have to kill you
