I had no idea. Apologies if this is common knowledge.

No, my point was that it’s really easily accessible to them!

IrmaFayLear · 05/02/2021 09:37

Sorry!

Oblomov21 · 05/02/2021 13:00

I am having a lot of trouble convincing anyone.

To get fair, OP, it is very very unhelpful that the nhs website says : basically don't use this site till you've received your letter.

I can't see how anyone could be convinced this was ok/ legitimate.

Telling anyone all the instructions above:

ie you won't be able to book unless you are eligible. Just isn't convincing.

Not everyone is even getting a letter. Some get a text. Some gp's phoning.

Why the nhs website hasn't adjusted?

It's not helpful. Is it?

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 05/02/2021 14:16

I’ve put it on a Facebook group and someone said it must be the password that was sent to the wrong people from Barts. I have tried to persuade them otherwise but everyone ‘knows’ they have to wait for their letter.

QueenPawPaws · 06/02/2021 10:42

@gisbons I am all jabbed! Just had the Oxford one

takeitfromyourmumsy · 06/02/2021 10:49

Thanks OP! SmileTold my in-laws (over 70) about this post and they booked and had their first jabs yesterday!

Lordamighty · 06/02/2021 10:58

Does anyone know if they are going to open the booking system to the next group 65-70 & will they announce it?

PusheenLove · 06/02/2021 12:36

How did it go? Any side effects? I'm being jabbed tomorrow!

QueenPawPaws · 06/02/2021 12:44

@PusheenLove very well organised, place split into pods and no queue. Afterwards they said wait in the waiting room or in my car for 15 mins. Both doors open so it was like a wind tunnel inside!
No side effects yet but I only had it at 10.45

Excellent news!! It really does make me smile!! Grin Star

For some reason we still can't book in a CEV family member. His GP says he is on the list, but the GP hasn't yet offered a spot at the clinic either. I know it will probably happen this week but the wait is frustrating...

I am presuming it'll open from February 16th. I have seen a few things in the media that say it'll be gradually released to 69 years olds, then 68, etc... rather than all at once, but I guess we will have to wait and see?
doireallyneedaname · 06/02/2021 13:56

My in laws in south east both vaccinated today. They are 65 & 67 and were invited by letter.

Thank you :) What documentation did you need to take?

notevenat20 · 06/02/2021 14:09

Yes. A lot of people have now checked with their GP and 119 and it's definitely ok to use the link. Don't forget you enter your details and it won't let you book if you are not eligible.

Thank you smile What documentation did you need to take?

I think you just need some id and the booking code it gives you.

55larry · 06/02/2021 14:11

I have received my letter today having booked on line last Saturday and having had my vaccine on Wednesday having seen the link on here.

The letter was dated the 29th January so there is quite a delay between being able to book and receipt of the letter so if any one thinks that they might be eligible please try the NHS website

EmmanuelleMakro · 06/02/2021 14:14

Well done for raising this OP!
The NHS must be the last organisation sending ‘letters’! Should be texting.

notevenat20 · 06/02/2021 14:19

Well done for raising this OP!

Thank you. It really is the loveliest feeling whenever anyone on this thread says they have booked a jab.

OP posts:
ShakeTheDisease · 06/02/2021 14:24

@PusheenLove and @QueenPawPaws I had the Oxford jab and have only had a slightly tender arm. No other side effects at all.

The day after getting mine, I had a text from my surgery saying I could now book in. The even greater irony was that the link in their message to do that looks totally shonky - the sort of thing where you might click and get adverts for Viagra or Russian mail order brides. The one from this thread inspires much more confidence!

ShakeTheDisease · 06/02/2021 14:26

Re documents, I took my shielding letter with me but didn't need it. I was just asked for my reference number, which I had on my phone in the confirmation text for my booking.

@EmmanuelleMakro a lot of 80+ year olds don't have mobile phones and a lot of 70+ year olds have phones but have never updated their medical records with them.
notevenat20 · 06/02/2021 16:02

For anyone still wondering about the NHS booking site that says you need a letter, my local GP surgery website points to that website with this message:

"UPDATE: If you are in one of priority groups 1-4 you can now book your first covid-19 vaccination at a community pharmacy or vaccination centre without receiving an invitation."

It's obvious that the text on the booking site is just wrong.

My in-laws booked in last weekend for early this week, my mother in law was really worried she was doing something wrong and she felt guilty. Their letters arrived 2 days after their jabs so now she feels better!

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 06/02/2021 16:58

My Dad and my friend’s Mum were both done today thanks to the power of Mumsnet. Hope more people will believe it and get booked in soon. Still no letter for my Dad.

PuzzledObserver · 06/02/2021 17:21

Just heard from someone near me who is in the 65-69 bracket that she had a text from the GP inviting her to book via the website, and has done so. No letter (yet). It still says over 70's, though - they really ought to change that.

I'm group 6, and checking every few days to see if it will let me in. Not yet! I probably won't actually book straight away, as I had Covid starting at the end of December, so have some immunity. Maybe let some more vulnerable people go first, since group 5 is nearly 8 million people.
