@Avondklok
The EU PAID 300 million euros so AZ could set up production

And we also paid, Astra is setting up production in the EU, the EU are three months behind us in signing up for a vaccine they haven’t yet approved for use

And let’s not forget that Germany and a number of other countries were ready to sign when we did but the good old EU told them no, we all have to sign together and that little shit Macron wanted French vaccines, which won’t be ready for months. A perfect example of the EU not working together. Says a lot that the German press headlines are that they can see advantages to Brexit!

There was a very good post on here the other day with the CEO of Astra explaining exactly why they are where they are, find it and read it

We all want the vaccine, but the EU need to understand they can’t stamp their feet when the buck for this stops with them

OverTheRainbowLiesOz · 29/01/2021 00:54

You do realise we will all have to live side by side trading with each other? Jeez. The gloaty fervent one in the eye for you brigade won't help advance this country.

OverTheRainbowLiesOz · 29/01/2021 00:55

And I agree with the fact the EU are acting badly too. It just all looks pathetic.

Waspnest · 29/01/2021 00:58

Do many think the UK is all good? I think that for once this is a good news story for the UK amongst a shit load of bad news (our Covid death rate is obviously appalling) so yes let's celebrate it.

The EU was never all bad. I'm grateful for the cleaner beaches, the employment laws, the things that the EU funded (partly with our money) that probably wouldn't have happened if left to our government who have other spending priorities.

The older I get the more I realise that nothing is black or white. So many shades of grey.

WhiteLittleDots · 29/01/2021 01:02

@LouiseBelchersBunnyEars

It’s just amazing how it’s one rule for the UK and one for the EU.

Some of you lot would be singing a very different tune if the roles were reversed here.

If your morals are dependent, not on what happens, but on WHO is doing what, they aren’t morals.
They’re just tribalism.

‘We should all share together’
Ha fucking ha.
When we were low on ventilators, not ONE of you were suggesting the EU share with us.
It was all ‘we’ve made our bed, we didn’t order enough in time, our citizens are suffering and we only have ourselves to blame’
Now it’s the EU who didn’t sort out their admin in time, now the tables have turned and it’s all ‘We need to sort all of Europe out, and share and all be in in together as it will affect us all’

The hypocrisy is astonishing.

Why the U-turn in opinions? What do people gain from consistently painting the UK in a bad light? It’s honestly mental. Really embarrassing actually

I just re-skimmed the thread and only one person said we should share. And even that was with caveats. So I'm sure who you're railing against here.
LouiseBelchersBunnyEars · 29/01/2021 01:06

I’m railing against all the hypocrites I’ve seen, on here, on social media, in real life, over the past year, not just on this one particular thread.
The same ones who said the US were disgusting for closing their borders, but then defended Macron when he did it.

If you can’t see who I’m railing against, It’s probably because you’re choosing not to.
Or you feel defensive because you’re one of them 🤷‍♀️

WhiteLittleDots · 29/01/2021 01:10

Or are I thought you were actually replying to the thread, rather than just ranting like a loon

WhiteLittleDots · 29/01/2021 01:10

Or I thought*

LouiseBelchersBunnyEars · 29/01/2021 01:15

A loon? Really?

What part of what I said is ‘loony’?

What part is illogical?

What part doesn’t make sense?

Pointing out the hypocrisy of many, many people doesn’t a loony rant make.

But whatever makes you feel morally superior, eh? 😉

WhiteLittleDots · 29/01/2021 01:26

Everything you've said so far makes you sound nuts tbh

Waspnest · 29/01/2021 01:32

Yes! depending on the light

LouiseBelchersBunnyEars · 29/01/2021 01:33

Really?

Me saying that it’s embarrassing that people have one rule for the UK and another for the EU makes me sound nuts?

Maybe you should stop defending the EU doing things you denigrate the UK doing, and you won’t get so defensive when people point it out?

‘Sounds nuts’ lol, just because I’ve got an opinion you disagree with.

I haven’t said the earth is flat, or the royal family are lizards, or 5G caused coronavirus.

I’ve said I’ve noticed many people being hypocritical over the EU and the UK.

The fact you see that as ‘nuts’ or me as a ‘loon’ says far more about you than anything else tbh.

ilovesooty · 29/01/2021 01:55

@feelingverylazytoday

It will really wind the EU up Really? Bit of a childish reaction. People in the EU deserve to be protected against this horrible virus as much as British people do. It's not a competition.
Agreed. It's the second post I've seen like this tonight. Juvenile.

If in doubt, just throw around a few accusations of mental instability to try and bolster your arguement.
lovelemoncurd · 29/01/2021 02:25

I think this spat is making European countries and I'm including the uk in that look pretty damn repulsive when you consider how much vaccine has actually got to poorer countries. 25 doses not 25 million! We should all be a bit ashamed at this!

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 29/01/2021 02:30

To be honest if you are both in the UK it is the middle of the night. So you are both mad to be up arguing with a stranger 🤣

Apology if you are somewhere on a different time line👍

I agree.
SaraGilbert · 29/01/2021 03:00

On the week when the UK reach 100,000 deaths from the virus, one would think we should do our very best to ensure that another 100,000 don't needlessly die.

The emergence of new variants capable of evading vaccines could very easily leave the UK back to square one. All countries need to cooperate and share knowledge to ensure we have the very best vaccines available to everyone. We may yet need vaccines from elsewhere if ours are the ones that prove ineffective to new strains.

Imbecilic threads such as this one seem to want hundreds of thousands of more people to needlessly die.

Shaniac · 29/01/2021 03:07

Oh yes. A thread celebrating britain creating a 2nd effective vaccine means we want everyone to die. Cool story bro.

God I needed this thread. Thanks OP 💐

inquietant · 29/01/2021 06:15

@OverTheRainbowLiesOz

Both sides are as bad as each other in this mudslinging. They should cooperate to get all of Europe vaccinated as we will drag each other down otherwise. Follow the science.
Yes quite.

Disappointing how many people are stupid enough to prefer taking sides to building alliances.

The AZ vaccine doesn't make me 'proud to be British' Hmm it just makes me grateful for international science cooperation.

Dongdingdong · 29/01/2021 06:43

Disappointing how many people are stupid enough to prefer taking sides to building alliances.

Quite. Like the EU, who messed up their vaccine rollout, had a temper tantrum, threw all their toys out of the pram and now look very silly indeed.

I'm personally not privy to the contracts.

I just think this really isn't the right road for us or the EU.
