Seeing the headlines in the papers today and there seems a lot of sympathy for him. The front pages see him looking really forlorn and sorrow regarding the death toll.

When you think a year ago he was planning on ushering in what he deemed as a golden age of Britain. Now 12 months later it's in tatters.

I can understand the sympathy, but wonder whether a Labour PM would be offered the same.

Not one iota.

tobee · 27/01/2021 12:57

No

tobee · 27/01/2021 12:58

The golden age of Britain was a load of rubbish too.

Wartigen · 27/01/2021 12:59

No. And he is putting a stake in the ground for resignation. His premiership wasnt meant to be this way. It was meant to be ALL the Coke, and ALL the women and ALL the garden bridges and trains. He’s skint, and all his financial problems disappear the second he resigns and hits the public speaking circuit.

Incyra · 27/01/2021 13:00

Yes I do.

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 27/01/2021 13:01

Nope

MrsCaplan · 27/01/2021 13:01

Not an ounce of sympathy

PurpleDaisies · 27/01/2021 13:01

No.

Timeforabiscuit · 27/01/2021 13:02

God no, I don't care how many sad face pictures are pumped out to the media, he has a whole team hand picked by him, he is not all alone needing rescuing!

Crowsaregreat · 27/01/2021 13:03

No. He's the most irresponsible man I can think of. Bluffed his way into being PM and had not the slightest clue what to do when he got there.

He's apologising to try to shape how he is seen by posterity, it won't work. There's probably also pressure on him from donors and the cabinet to show humility because of what a shitshow everything is.

ShanghaiDiva · 27/01/2021 13:04

On a personal level he’s had an extremely tough time and certainly did not look well when he returned after being in hospital. The mental strain of trying to mange the pandemic must be enormous.
I don’t agree with some Of the decisions he has made (particularly the Cummings debacle) and our death toll is appalling. I remember back in March I think Whitty said 20000 was the worst case scenario.
I think we missed many opportunities to act more promptly and decisively. I believe back in January the virus was regraded as a China problem/SE Asia problem and we watched it unfold and then watched a bit more.

AllBellyandBoobs · 27/01/2021 13:04

None at all.

UserMcNewName · 27/01/2021 13:04

No because he has ignored expert advice from scientists, supported budget cuts to the NHS and other public services for years and spearheaded giving contracts based on how well he knows people rather than if they can do the job. All these decisions are part of the reason our country is so screwed. That's before we even get into the whole Brexit fuck up.

He's corrupt and incompetent. That's all on him.

Porcupineintherough · 27/01/2021 13:04

No.

MuggleStudiesResearchProject · 27/01/2021 13:05

No. I'd like to see him face proper consequences for his decisions.

His cowardice has been a problem. Especially in December over Christmas.

Do I fuck.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 27/01/2021 13:07

He should end up in court on something similar to a corporate manslaughter charge so no, I do not.

There is no earthly reason we had to come out of this so badly; his government is the reason. Their dithering, indifference to the lives of the small people, cronyism and arrogant refusal to listen to actual experts had killed tens of thousands. Tens of thousands.

atomt · 27/01/2021 13:07

No, I think it's very ironic he was willing to do anything to reach his ambition of being PM and then he has ended up in charge in times of a pandemic. Not quite what he had in mind I expect!

ParkheadParadise · 27/01/2021 13:07

No
Save yourself a trip to Scotland tomorrow Boris, you're not welcome 😉

Cornettoninja · 27/01/2021 13:10

No.

I’m empathetic in that this is an awful situation and I wouldn’t want to be in his position but at the same time he’s proved to be a weak leader, time and time again procrastinating over decisions that have led to needless suffering and stress. He’s failed to provide any sort of firm guidance at precisely the time it was needed.

Ultimately he wanted this job and sympathy is not something that the prime minister should want or need.

Fridget · 27/01/2021 13:10

No. Inasmuch as I can understand that whoever was in charge, leading this country through this was an unenviable task, I believe he only wanted to be PM to take the glory of Brexit, for his own ego. He was never cut out for leadership or difficult decisions, and he knew that.

7yo7yo · 27/01/2021 13:12

No. He’s put profit (particularly for his cronies) above lives.
This whole government is responsible for this shit show.
Agree with pp who say he should be charged with corporate manslaughter and they (I don’t know who) should investigate every contract given while this has all began starting with the track and trace programme.

Splodgetastic · 27/01/2021 13:12

I would have said not, but, having Recently read a bit more about his background, I do feel sorry for him.

ReggaePerrin · 27/01/2021 13:17

@Incyra

Yes I do.
Can I ask why?
