"No indication has been given as to why the briefing has suddenly been called, however, it comes less than 24 hours after false reports in the German media caused alarm by claiming the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine was ineffective among over-65s."

It could also be to make the announcement about hotel quarantining for those entering the country. I would imagine both subjects.

They save the big announcements for 8pm, so I doubt it’s of any interest.

It's gonna be about false reporting in Germany about the Astra Zenica jab only being 8% efficient in those over 65 then a bit of bragging about vacinne rollout, and reassurance we have enough ( but we don't) and then about a token travel quarantine for a couple of countries instead of all. Then he will wait for cheerleaders.
In other words another episode of pointless.

For the people who hope he's resigning, who is the least worst alternative....

Im not a Boris Johnson fan and I would (and do) complain about some of their decisions...but I'm not sure who the preferable alternatives are, considering it will be someone from the same party (that may well have some input in to decision making now - He's not making up all the laws guidelines on his own!)

It's like an impromptu school assembly, you know it won't be good, but you're on the edge of your seat waiting to find out what fuckery is in store next and for whom

When I was at school it was sometimes "the fog is getting worse so we are finishing early - so the teachers can get home safely".
We lived in a very foggy area and lots of teachers commuted a long way in as it was the furthest area outside London where you still got "danger money".

But of course it will be announcing a measure we should have taken a year ago.

I'm going for hotel quarantine to be announced....location of hotel to be relative to your departure destination ie if you've been in Dubai because "your career" (ie your insta photos) required you to be there you will be housed in a travelodge with a mini kettle and a daily ration bag (of a mini box of cornflakes with uht milk, ham sandwich and a pot noodle) dropped outside your door daily.

I don’t think it’ll be about schools. I watched Nick Gibb in parliament this afternoon and he was giving nothing away except there will be further announcements later this week.

I think it’ll be the awful 100,000 deaths milestone - and I think it’s right that that is addressed.

Also think it’ll be what’s happening with the vaccine and the borders.
