evening all it's my first ever post
i'm on day 5 of postive covid and i'm feeling wiped out, symtoms so far have been gastric upset bloating, headache and feeling very tierd and dizzy but my cough has got worse but not continuously,i'm worried as my chest feels abit tight and hurts round the front and back, not sure if the gastric pains are making it worse,i'm reading so many different things how it gets worse on certain days etc.
day 5 and feeling like this so do i need to prepare for worse?
thanks

I was worried the same as you when i had covid. Day 2-3 were my worst days i think, it took me longer than ten days to recover. I had a cough and my chest felt tight but the worst symptoms for me was the muscle/joint pain and blinding headache.

TheoriginalLEM · 23/01/2021 22:01

You should try and lay on your front as much as possible. I hope you feel better soon

Mummytoallgirls · 24/01/2021 08:33

It seems so very different for everyone.

I was completely debilitated for ten days, day 11 getting hassle from work (yep!) Back on day 14, wobbly but i was ok, getting back into things helped but hobestly don't pysh yourself, you need to rest. The weakness is horrendous. Drink plenty - you'll be ok x

Mummytoallgirls · 24/01/2021 11:13

@TheoriginalLEM Thnk you!!gosh as if work we're pushing you to go back!!i think i'm so use to running around now that my body cnt move even the loo is a struggle it's making me feel very anxious and dh has it too and is on day 8 so the poor children are looking after themselves which is making me feel even worse!!im glad your on the mend,i think i do need to rest it out in bed for a few days as this body weakness today is just awful, can i ask if you was taking any vitamins or anything to help?x

I had it in December and was felt most rough day 3-8 including cough , and all the symptoms you describe. If your chest hurts ring the GP tomorrow. I was prescribed antibiotics and steroids . I took vit d, zinc, vit c and acidophilus . It was so awful. And I still feel tired , but I'd say I started to feel better after day 8-10. Rest up and drink loads . Do some breathing exercises and lie on your front , and eat little and often . We all lost our appetites for about 4 days . You will get better .BiscuitThanks

Mummytoallgirls · 24/01/2021 20:40

@girlofthenorth thank you for replying i feel so panicky tonight my chest feels really tight and it hurts to breath i'm fine standing up but sitting down makes it feel worse but i don't no if my bloated stomach is pushing up making it worse!im praying i can get through this my anxiety is so high iv been in bed allday!day 7 tommorow hoping it starts to ease up,i'm taking probiotics vit d, c and paracotmol x

A day at a time @Mummytoallgirls.
Wishing you well and hope tomorrow is a better day. You could be on your way out the other side if it.
Please excuse my ignorance but when people talk of day 4 etc, do you count from first day of any symptoms or the day you receive a positive result?

Mummytoallgirls · 24/01/2021 21:01

@spied i hope so!!i cnt get comfy my chest just feels so tight horribke feeling iv used my daughters inhaler but it hasn't done much, strange as this feeling came on after i ate abit, but i started counting from day of my first symptoms so for me today would be day 6 starting with a cough and chest discomfort on day one,it's my breathing and chest that's effecting me the most and the weakness but i can cope with that i get anxious with the chest feeling i have took abit of gaviscon and i'm burping so hoping it's abit of trapped wind as it did effect my stomach also!x

Spied · 24/01/2021 21:24

Thanks @Mummytoallgirls, I've been reading threads and wondering bout the days thingSmile.
Anxiety will also have an affect on your digestion/stomach too and being weak and unable to keep upright and move a lot will obviously affect your digestion and cause gas and bloating. Bloating really affects my breathing and leaves gas pain in my chest and between my shoulder blades ( I have Gerd ).
The burping is a great sign!

KeepWashingThoseHands · 24/01/2021 22:36

I haven’t had it just sending positive vibes. I Think it must be very scary. Sounds like it’s horrible but you are managing at home which is good. Hydrate, rest, try some mindfulness to stay calm. If the kids eat cereal and watch TV all day that’s fine.

Get well soon.

Mummytoallgirls · 24/01/2021 23:22

@spied defo have some reflux going on before i got my postive i was having gastro issues and never would have thought that's linked to covid!but i never have chest problems so nee my tight chest and cough wasnt right

@KeepWashingThoseHands thank you!it really is the scariest thing it's the not knwoing as you hear so much you don't no how your body is going to cope!i think il feel at ease once j get past day 10 hopefully i can still manage at home x

Hi Ive just been diagnosed and am terrified. I have muld asthma (which was why I tested to prove it wasnt covid 🙄 if I rang the asthma nurse.)

Im v anxious of how bad it will get and what I can do now to prepare for it.

TryingNotToPanicOverCovid · 24/01/2021 23:48

Mummytoallgirls (mine are girls too). Hope you are okay. Yay for day 7. How has it been? Do you feel you're getting better?

Mummytoallgirls · 25/01/2021 11:37

Morning all day 7,had a awful night felt so breathless feel like i don't sleep at all!woke up this morning less body aches but still feel very weak and tierd but my breathing is still heavy and chest feels tight jjst cnt get a full deep breath type feeling!my stomach feels very sore and blaited still have a cough but it's clear phlem sorry for tmi..i went downstairs and it wiped me out so iv come back to bed..is this breathing normal with covid then?
@TryingNotToPanicOverCovid sorry you have tested postive,i think it's one of those we just have to ride it out but each day is a nee symptom and that's the scary part for me not knwoing,i don't have asthma but have a inhaler at home that iv been using i'm taking vitamin c and d and paracotmol

Oh gosh that sounds really frightening. Do they tell you at all when you need to contact anyone? Have you got an oximeter?

I get anxious at the best of times - I think not knowing is horrible isn't it. I thought I had covid last march but it could have been asthma they just didn't test then. That felt like something was sitting on my chest and I couldn't quite get a full breath. But as I wasn't tested then I won't know!

How are your family? Are you able to distract yourself? On a different thread someone said you can always call 111 for advice which I did think I might do if I got unwell.

Carrotcakeforbreakfast · 25/01/2021 12:09

I would suggest if your chest is feeling so tight to try and get hold of an oximeter. So even when you're feeling breathless it should reassure you of your sats are good. Likewise it they're a little low you can seek advice.

Mummytoallgirls · 25/01/2021 12:57

yes i think i will order one for that peace of mind,my hubby has it also his in day 9 and was feeling ok yesterday but today he feels unwell again, touchwood children seem fine and are just entertaining themselves,i'm really bunged up today too but i just want this chest feeling to go it's awful!

Try not to worry, sometimes if you worry you feel worse. Who is doing your measurements because no one even suggested that we do them when we were positive? I just slept as much as I could. I just asked my eldest to keep an eye on the younger two?
