Wearing a mask going for a walk

Would you wear a mask going for a walk?

I haven't worn a mask while walking to date but I'm thinking about changing this from today. Going for a walk later on. When I am on the quite road, I won't be wearing a mask. When I join on the main road and the main walking path I will put on a mask then because its a small path and keeping 2 metres apart from passerbys will be hard.

No.

lunapeace · 23/01/2021 12:39

Only a clown mask.

covetingthepreciousthings · 23/01/2021 12:40

Yes I have done this, and will continue to do so (we only walk locally, and it's hard to keep 2m when passing people sometimes), I've noticed more people outside wearing masks now. To be honest, I prefer wearing them as it help stop the cold air which can aggravate my asthma.

AuntieStella · 23/01/2021 12:40

Maybe

If in the arse end of beyond, no. Urban, probably

Freezing cold day, yes - really does make you feel so much warmer

WalkingOnStarshine · 23/01/2021 12:40

No, I don't and wouldn't wear a mask outside.

WorraLiberty · 23/01/2021 12:40

If you haven't worn one so far, what's making you change your mind OP?

WalrusWife · 23/01/2021 12:42

I wear a mask when I have to indoors like in a supermarket. Not outside. I don’t particularly believe they have much power.

Yesterday, a woman wearing a mask jumped out in the road in front of DH and myself and almost got hit by a car.

Nicknacky · 23/01/2021 12:43

I’m going a walk today with a friend. No way will I wear a mask.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 23/01/2021 12:43

Personally, no,because I rarely see anyo on my hour walks.

However, I do if for any reason, I'm walking down the High street in town for example. I do the canal path too, because lots of elderly use that path, and it's not that wide.

Overall,I think wearing them in busy areas could be a good idea.

2020BogOff · 23/01/2021 12:43

No I wouldn't.

BaggoMcoys · 23/01/2021 12:44

I don't wear a mask when I'm out and about, unless I've forgotten to take it off when I've left a shop/public transport etc.

faerin · 23/01/2021 12:44

Sometimes I leave my mask on when I'm out just because it's warmer. My face can get FREEZING in the cold weather.

Plus sometimes if I feel particularly unattractive I'll wear the mask outdoors just becaust I feel like covering my face up. Also works if I want to avoid people.

NameChange84 · 23/01/2021 12:45

I always have since being allowed to go on walks again after having to Shield. I have chronic neutropenia and other people seem to be completely incapable of social distancing and being considerate to other walkers. I try my best to social distance from them but some people make it impossible so a mask, or giving up totally, seems to be the only option of reducing transmission even minimally.

DenisetheMenace · 23/01/2021 12:46

I do. Can’t do me any harm (I know exactly how to wear one safely) Might do some good.

SingANewSongChickenTikka · 23/01/2021 12:47

I have started to on walks in busier places. Due to higher prevalence than ever before here and concerns around the new varient. I’ve noticed more and more people doing the same in recent weeks.

randomsabreuse · 23/01/2021 12:48

Nope, because it massively increases the risk of tripping over dogs, small children, roots etc thanks to reducing downwards peripheral vision... See also steps...

BananaPop2020 · 23/01/2021 12:48

No. It is not necessary. I really hope we don’t progress down that route.

That may have been me 😁
Where the two of you taking up the whole narrow pavement on the railway bridge and refusing to walk single file?

Unlikely to have anything to do with the mask though, unless she was wearing it over her eyes...

Doesn’t reduce my downward or peripheral vision at all 🤷‍♀️ Keeps my face warm too

SenorFrog · 23/01/2021 12:50

Loads of people wear them for walls round here. I have a scarf that I pull over my face sometimes, much warmer

Cairnterrorist · 23/01/2021 12:52

No. Because I’m exempt from mask wearing and I walk alone with my dog either early in the am or late at night. I live rurally and have never come across anyone else.

itsgettingweird · 23/01/2021 12:54

I do sometimes.

Like you if I'm walking through a main way that's busy I'll wear a mask.

If walking through woods I wouldn't!

I also wear one when queuing outside of shops.

Exactly what I was thinking! 🤣🤣
Hazelnutlatteplease · 23/01/2021 12:56

Yes have done. It reminds others to social distance and gives a degree of protection if they dont. I very much agree more people are wearing them.

The masks I wear are properly tight to the face with metal bit on the nose so dont interrupt my vision
