Any advice to request vaccine ASAP

Please let me start by saying I am not wanting to jump ahead of the elderly, but please bear with me. We have been told that ECV can be invited now for the vaccine and I’m ECV.
We’ve also been told not to phone drs (and recorded message on dr website states they will not discuss vaccine appointments). Does anyone know how I can flag to the powers that be that I am working each day with students face to face in school, so that I can at least be one of the first ECV to be called?
To be clear I have chosen to continue working as I’m a Head of Year and feel that my vulnerable students need me. I could work from home, but I fought to be allowed in.
I’m really asking I suppose, I’d there a way of talking to a real person to explain my situation?
If you don’t want to give details on here because ransoms might decide to follow your tips too I understand.
I do not want to skip ahead of the higher groups - but would really like to be early in my group.

I think once your group gets called it is all going to move pretty quickly. My Drs Surgery keeps posting on facebook about how many they have done in a day etc.

Turtleshelly · 22/01/2021 03:08

To be honest op seems to not be asking to jump ahead of people more needy than her just for her situation to be known when choosing the order of those the same level of needy as her.

Hang on in there OP. Its happening now. My ECV husband is booked in on Monday which is just brilliant ... And I thought it would be weeks away (London). I am so grateful!

bathsh3ba · 22/01/2021 09:35

If you are ECV then I would imagine you have a specialist NHS service of some kind involved with you? In that case, I would speak to them. They will understand the extent of your vulnerability better than your GP and may be able to flag your name, or they may decide it's not appropriate to. But surely there's no harm in contacting them.

I believe you can go on the .gov website and request an appointment at the mass centres, this is a different pathway to waiting for your gp, my df did this and has an appointment later today, also priority 4.

Only with a letter inviting you to do that

Entitled much?

I am CV and waiting my turn like countless others

yearinyearout · 22/01/2021 10:55

Our health centre are having vaccines left over is due to people turning up for their appointment, then refusing it as it's the pfizer vaccine. This is why they are calling in random people at the end of the working day.

CuppaZa · 22/01/2021 11:01

So you choose to ignore government advice for CEV, and now want help in finding a way to queue jump other CEV people who have most likely been following advice? Wow.
Wait your damn turn.

CoffeeRunner · 22/01/2021 11:06

@Lemons1571

So if the op hangs around a vaccine hub at say 4pm, is she likely to get a vaccine after a few days?
Hugely depends which one! The vaccine hub I’m working at certainly isn’t pulling in people off the street or allowing people to turn up & wait just incase.

We have a list of HCPs & care home staff who have not yet been vaccinated and are ringing them to come for any leftover doses.

Timeontimeoff · 22/01/2021 11:47

My local surgery still haven't done the over 85's yet, although family in different towns and even smaller villages have been done. They will probably start on ECV next year whilst rest of country does next years dose!

Seriously though most teachers aren't even in at my local schools. The TA's are looking after the children that are in and teachers are WFH - we are you in?

EmmanuelleMakro · 22/01/2021 11:58

YABU
You fo not how many people are more vulnerable than snd working in exposed circumstances!
Really surprised anyone has the cheek to fo this!

Bessica1970 · 22/01/2021 18:14

Thanks all,
When I phoned my gp for a repeat prescription today, the receptionist asked me to confirm my contact details hadn’t changed as they would be contacting me next week to invite me for my vaccine. I’m category 4a apparently (I didn’t know that was a thing) and they’re coming to the end of the category three now.
To be clear - I didn’t phone to ask and didn’t bring the subject up.
My youngest son is unwell today (sickness and slightly raised temperature 37.1), so I’m hoping we’re all still ok. He hasn’t been anywhere at all since 27th Dec when his bubble was sent home, so I’m hoping it’s just a food related bug.
Thank you everyone who was supportive and didn’t presume the worst of me.
For those who were unpleasant - I think no ill of you but I stopped reading your replies as I value my mental health too much to wallow in negativity.

what good news op, good luck that you all stay well

AnyFucker · 22/01/2021 18:25

There you go. Your turn came up. No need for the drama.

Branleuse · 22/01/2021 18:29

Its a terrifying time for many ECV people. A friend of mine with cystic fibrosis, shielding (alone) since March, already had a lung transplant, and is due to go into hospital as her kidneys are now failing is desperate for the vaccine before she has to go to hospital, yet when she tried to ask, the nurse shouted at her " WE ALL WANT THE VACCINE, YOURE NOT THE ONLY ONE VULNERABLE"
Terrified doesnt cover it.

flumposie · 22/01/2021 19:01

I'm classed as cev and a teacher. I got a text from my doctors yesterday with a link to book my first vaccination. I'm having mine on Thursday. Fingers crossed for you.

Haenow · 22/01/2021 19:10

You’re extremely fortunate to be in the very privileged position of your employer being able to pay you to work from home. You choose not to.
