AIBU to be angry that parents are abusing the (not actually) key worker's at school system?

Hi everyone. So, I'm a single parent working in a care home, part-time. On very low wages, so I cannot afford a car and cycle everywhere. During the first lockdown, my daughters school really grilled me over what hours I worked, where her dad was, what he was doing and generally pressurising me to not send my daughter to school.
I had to cut my hours to fit in with the schools opening times too.

The second time around, there are twice as many children in her class, and I know that some of them have 2 parents in the home, that are not keyworkers. Yet those children are allowed to go 5 days a week, and mine is only allowed to go 3. AIBU to question the head teachers decision on this?

Of course I am a keyworker. I've stated that numerous times. My daughter attended school during the first lockdown, due to this fact. How else would I be able to compare there being more kids at the school this time round? And yes, I cannot have the place because the school is over subscribed. The head has told me they are really struggling to accommodate the amount of children this time round.

@SinkGirl

I’m sorry people are giving you a hard time OP. I have disabled twins who’ve been off for two weeks and going back two days a week to their specialist school, I’m bloody exhausted and I still can find empathy for a single mum on a low wage in a high risk job. I would definitely speak to the school - if you need to work more hours, you need her to go to school.
Thank you! This lockdown is so much harder for some families than others. We are not all in the same situation, and people do take advantage. The vitriol I've got from this thread is shocking.

You know nothing of the circumstances of the families involved.

I’m with you too OP.
3 of those still sending kids in DCs school (our of far too many) are ) I know very well so I 100% DO know their circumstances and they don’t need to be sending their kids back. Despite a very clear email from headmaster saying if you can WFH then please don’t- they’ve still sent them in. It definitely makes this situation worse at the complete piss take/ unfairness of it all.

Absolutely appeal to the head and follow up in writing if necessary.

If you cant get more time, see if you can get them to lend you equipment. One of the worst parts of this is how disproportionately low paid workers are affected. Especially their children.

But focus on your situation, dont get distracted by what you think others are doing.

Agree. You've had a disgusting response from many posters. A single Mum, low paid keyworker on mumsnet. But some cant summon a little empathy.
