Who's had vaccine yet and who's had side effects?

I'm in northern Ireland and I know around 6 people who've been entitled to the vaccine, 5 of them had the original one and 1 had the Oxford one. Every single person has had side effects, ranging from as little as stiff, extremely painful arm (needing painkillers) to as bad as vomiting, severe headache, 39 degree temperatures, exhaustion etc.

Why are the side effects more common than other vaccines? Most other vaccines it's like 1 in 10 will get these side effects, 1 in 50 will get these etc but I just found it strange that absolutely all recipients that I know had a side effect of some sort so far.

My entire team of health care workers had the Pfizer vaccine in December. That's 20 in total. Most severe side effect was a slight sore arm for one and a slight itchiness at the site the following day for another. No different than anyone's general experience with the flu vaccine.
Folk shouldn't really focus on these. These are all normal side effects of vaccines and not worth commenting on. Any more severe concerns should be brought up with your doctor for investigation and yellow card reporting if necessary. Even then, I suspect the vast majority of "symptoms" will disappear very quickly with no lasting effects.

DH had his Wednesday and was fine Thursday, just a sore arm but Friday and yesterday was very lethargic and fluey, a lot more than from the flu or pneumonia jabs. I wonder if those that are reacting more seriously would have had more severe illness from covid due to their vulnerability? I.e. their immune system is obviously reacting more seriously to the vaccine, and maybe would really struggle if they had actually caught covid??

My healthy DB is a health worker and had no side effects at all, both had Pfizer.
