Anyone else becoming irritated by STAY HOME

Lemons1571 · 14/01/2021 09:02

It’s starting to do my head in. We are all At Home. Haven’t left since Sunday. Apart from DH who is a keyworker so no choice. Haven’t even ventured near the mud sodden garden. How much more can we STAY HOME? Are we doing it wrong? Perhaps I should shriek any time someone goes within a foot of the front door. And putting the bin out - forget it!

Yet the media still keep on, Stay Home Stay Home Stay Home, accompanied by endless clips of makeshift ITU’s in children’s wards. Wtf do they want? Us all to lock ourselves in the under stairs cupboard?

Am beginning to think if the messaging carries on like this, everyone will reach fatigue point and switch off from it all. Ok I know I’m being a mardy cow and unreasonable, but does anyone else feel like this?

If the government gave a shit about saving the nhs, perhaps they should have funded it properly in the first place.

I don't think the announcements are personally aimed at you, I suspect it's more they are targeted at the people who aren't staying at home...

Though do agree with your point re NHS

Sparklingbrook · 14/01/2021 09:06

Unfortunately many people do not know the meaning of STAY HOME that's the problem.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 14/01/2021 09:07

Yes. I'm sick of people moaning about the amount of traffic as well. Someone posted a photo of the busy tube station saying she's a nurse but where are all these other people going? Well many of us who weren't working last time are this time. I have to carry a letter from work now stating that I can't work from home if I get stopped.

DenisetheMenace · 14/01/2021 09:07

Don’t shoot the messenger. It’s the numpties ignoring the message you should be irritated with.

Tier4muffintop · 14/01/2021 09:08

I keep thinking it should be stay AT home, that annoys me!

That's how I feel about it.

The list of valid reasons to not be at home is readily available as well.

Pillowcase123 · 14/01/2021 09:09

Because other people aren't staying at home? Confused

For the PP talking about travelling to work, that's something else that needs addressing surely? More people were able to wfh last time, why cant the employers allow the same this time when transmissions and deaths are higher? Looks like Scotland has the right idea on this.

hamstersarse · 14/01/2021 09:11

We have over 90% compliance. It is unnecessary, patronising and frankly beyond irritating.

But it seems we are a nation of infants and apparently we all need the constant firm hand from Daddy Government

Toomuch2019 · 14/01/2021 09:11

No I find it irritating too.

I was also irritated when booking a home test on the phone to be told I needed to isolate (despite not needing to as test for research and no symptoms), until DH remarked it's not like I'd left home for the last week anyway Grin

TooTweeForMe · 14/01/2021 09:12

It's always the people not staying home moaning about the other people who are also out.

"I was at the garden centre and it was packed why can't people STAY AT HOME".

Well why don't you stay the fuck at home then.

I only leave the house to walk the dogs or take the kids out for a walk. I'm sick of being made feel guilty every time I leave the front door. I'm not spreading covid in the massive empty woodland right next to my house.

Thankfully in Scotland we don't have the exercise once a day message yet so the curtain twitchers can't be counting how many times you walk round the block in a day.

crazyunicornlady73 · 14/01/2021 09:13

Yes it's really getting to me, particularly all the terrifying news articles and pictures about how bad hospitals are.
I believe them, I agree with them and when I can I'm more than happy to shut my front door and never leave the house!
Bottom line is though that as a special needs teacher I can't stay at home so all it does is make me even more scared about going into work.... hate it Angry

It's not people who can work from, it's people who physically can't. I work in a factory where we make furniture, I cannot work from home. Many warehouses and factories closed during lockdown 1 as people weren't ordering and they needed to get Covid secure. I myself was furloughed. This time we are open and we cannot work from home.
Moonmelodies · 14/01/2021 09:16

Don't forget millions of people who work in industry, manufacturing, construction etc are obliged to go into work, unlike the first lockdown when they too had to stay at home.

I agree. And families who treat a trip to the supermarket as a day out.
Lemons1571 · 14/01/2021 09:16

I also understand that the majority of transmission is in hospitals and care homes. Which makes it even more irritating that the blame is put on us for not doing Stay Home well enough. Frightening Mrs Jones enough so she daren’t even pick up the post from the front doormat, is not going to flatten the curve.

Im annoyed by the news cameras in multiple hospitals every day, exploiting another person's grief, illness or work fatigue, and putting the news crews in the position of spreading it more.

Being told to stay home by people out and about interviewing people on the high street.

Being told to stay home by someone visiting another school to report on how crowded it is.

I know that news reporters can't work from home. But they don't need to do the same report from a different school, hospital and high street every day. All while preaching at the public to stay home.

RoseAndRose · 14/01/2021 09:17

We have over 90% compliance

About 10% non-compliance is shockingly high.

Backbee · 14/01/2021 09:17

I'm guessing the adverts and the message isn't personally made for you...you are very naieve if you think everyone else is doing the same as you are.

Yes!!!! It makes my teeth itch. If people need to keep churning it out, please use stay AT home.

Tearsfortiers · 14/01/2021 09:18

It's aimed at the idiots that don't stay at home. My neighbour goes out several times a day (probably to visit her multiple illegal bubbles) She doesn't work, it's not essential but she seems incapable of staying in.

I do wonder if the compliant Stay At Homers are going to reach tipping point and check out completely.

Where are they going to go? Nightclubbing? Theatre? Meal out at a restaurant? There's not that many options to 'check out' is there?

Orf1abc · 14/01/2021 09:24

Unfortunately many people do not know the meaning of STAY HOME that's the problem.

You mean the millions of people having to go to work?

Compliance is high, but the rules as they are mean many people are still being put at excessive risk.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 14/01/2021 09:24

No its irritating me as well, it did during the lockdown

I hate the ‘stay the fuck home’ bollocks you get on here as well

The latest one i hate is the ‘pretend you have covid and act accordingly’ that some mps and health people seem to be coming out with

Its really stupid, a much better idea would be to pretend that every else has it, that would still mean you went out as little as possible, it would mean that you stayed apart as much as possible and used a mask and sanitised your hands...treat everyone else as the danger

If i was actually going to pretend i had covid then i wouldnt be able to leave the house...not for exercise, not for medical reasons, i couldnt go food shopping, i couldnt drop the children to college (assuming they reopen) I couldn’t see my dad who lives alone etc

Justanotherdayina · 14/01/2021 09:24

I'm irritated by my reflection. I get on my own nerves !!!
