Do you think the lockdown will end mid February

I personally think they will extend it to March and say it needs to remain in place while more people get the vaccine.

OP posts:
EverydayImJuggling · 13/01/2021 16:47

No

MarshaBradyo · 13/01/2021 16:47

15th is top four if it goes to schedule iirc

Then three weeks I suppose to take effect

MarshaBradyo · 13/01/2021 16:47

15th of Feb

Quartz2208 · 13/01/2021 16:47

No it is until March 31st at the moment with a review in mid February. Whatever happens with things changing after than review it will just be the starting point

Caramel81 · 13/01/2021 16:47

I think it will be lifted around the Easter holidays but then 90% of the country will probably stay in tier 4 for a while

megletthesecond · 13/01/2021 16:48

End of March or after Easter might be ok, with mass school testing, as long as they dont open pubs, restaurants and hairdressers first.
Teachers need to be vaccinated too. And eveyone in masks at school.

PuffinDoingPuffinThings · 13/01/2021 16:50

Didn't they say the end of February when they announced this lockdown? I think that's where people have gotten it from

I think they said about schools potentially reopening in Feb after the half term but I've only ever heard him saying that lockdown restrictions will be lifted once they see the effect of the vaccine on numbers, and stress several times that it needs a few weeks after actual vaccination for this to happen.

Although I may have missed something so apologies if so.

peboh · 13/01/2021 16:51

@PuffinDoingPuffinThings I may be wrong, it was just something my sister said to me. She may have been talking about school!

Northernsoulgirl45 · 13/01/2021 16:51

No.

BogRollBOGOF · 13/01/2021 16:54

I don't know. I'm kind of finding it helpful that I know that it is this half term rather than eternally being strung along every few weeks then finally walking into the school playground 5.5 months later.

There is the tier structure and existing protocols to get different sectors functioning again. It's not all new this time.

Globally, as with the usual respiritory illnesses Covid rates plummet in spring. This is the natural peak for death rates anyway.

I've long held the optomism that life will get better after Easter, even prior to recent progress in getting vaccination programmes operating. Until then, I don't know, and I'm concentrating on that extra 15 minutes of daylight each week and signs of the snowdrops/ crocuses/ daffodills emerging and they're pretty resistant to doom ploppers and governmeny cock-up Grin

Mousehole10 · 13/01/2021 16:55

I hope it will be by end of feb by more likely end of March. There’s no reason to carry on after that though.

GirlCrush · 13/01/2021 16:56

i think we will be in and out of tiers for the rest of the year

hospitality goes back in may expect us to see a surge in cases again so will go up a tier for example

GirlCrush · 13/01/2021 16:57

how do you know hospitals may still be overwhelmed
tinofbeans · 13/01/2021 17:09

I can't see the kids being back in school before Easter. Sad

GrumblyMumblyisnotJumbly · 13/01/2021 17:16

3 weeks after Christmas mixing and the worst daily death rate.

We're all stuck in lockdown limbo and homeschool again- what an absolutley idiotic decision to allow/ encourage household mixing at Christmas (other than to existing bubbles).

QuestionEverythingOrBeASheep · 13/01/2021 17:31

Nope....Not February, March, April or May. We will keep bouncing in and out of Tiers all year long. Mutations from around the world and international travel will play their part.

Bubblemonkey · 13/01/2021 18:29

It’s in legislation till the end of March so I suspect they’ll have it in place as long as possible.

Daisysflowers · 13/01/2021 19:33

31st March is the latest I would say lockdown would end. I personally think if they tried to continue a lockdown after this there would be serious trouble in many areas and people would will rebel.

JustAMessOhYes · 13/01/2021 19:35

We'll be lucky if we escape by the end of this year the way things are going.

AcornAutumn · 13/01/2021 19:36

OP what do you mean by "end of lockdown"?

If you mean back to Tier 4, maybe May but to me that is lockdown.

AcornAutumn · 13/01/2021 19:39

Puffin "Although you'll get lots telling you we'll still be living like this until next Christmas probably."

Sorry but the Act is in place for two years.

France and Germany have said furlough for two years, or their equivalent.

I am anti lockdown btw. I desperately want to be wrong. It's a miracle
I'm still here.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 13/01/2021 19:42

I think it will be around Easter with schools reopening then and a return to the tier system. Pubs not until May. If it's before that I'll be pleasantly surprised. I hate lockdown but I think we are going to be in it for a good couple of months.

Lemons1571 · 13/01/2021 20:02

I’ve got uk holiday booked 2nd April. It’s not looking good is it

Absy · 13/01/2021 20:10

I wish it would be February (I suck ar homeschooling) but I’m not optimistic

Againstmachine · 13/01/2021 21:28

We have been given the carrot, that vaccinations will get us out of this, and if they haven't vacinated as many as they have said to start easing up lockdown and that's on them.
