My mum believe the vaccines have chips in them

Designed by Bill Gates.

I don't know what to say to her! She said she'll refuse the vaccine.

OP posts:
Splann · 13/01/2021 17:16

I’d like to be microchipped by Bill Gates. He could take control of my life and hopefully do a better job of it than me. If he doesn’t I could blame him entirely for my failings. Win win Grin

I’ve no idea how to deal with anti-vaxxers but I might have more ideas by the end of the year.

LondonJax · 13/01/2021 17:17

Tell her that that is what 'they' want us to believe so those who are older refuse the vaccination. Which means that 'they' (who aren't on the initial levels of vaccination) then move to the front of the queue quicker. That way 'they' can take control earlier. So to fight it we have to make sure we have our vaccination - just so that 'they' don't win.

NataliaOsipova · 13/01/2021 17:22

@notalwaysalondoner

I feel for Bill Gates, I really do - decades of world-leading philanthropy and people think he's out to get them nevertheless. Poor guy.
This has always been my thought. Why Bill Gates? Surely he’s one of the “good guys”. In any case, I’d be tempted to ask her exactly what she thinks he’s doing with that lady called Margaret from Coventry now....?

@Splann - I had not thought of this angle. This is genius.....🤣

Peggyslantern · 13/01/2021 17:24

A nurse friend on my FB is despairing because a lot of people she talks too won't get the vaccine because Covid isn't real and Trump is a lightworker. He is helping people vibrate at a higher frequency or something? These are educated, left-wing British people.

It's funny but it's also sad.

OP I'd be saying to your mum 'I fully respect your decision not to have it but I can't be indoors with you if you won't get one.' And stick to that even as the rest of the world opens up. Meet her for walks outside, by all means, but the vaccine isn't 100% effective even if you've had it so why risk being around her? I know I won't want to be mixing with people I know are refusing the vaccine for stupid reasons for a long while to come based on the fact that hypothetically they could be ill with it but asymptomatic/presymptomatic.

corlan · 13/01/2021 17:28

Your Mum may have a point. I had the vaccine two weeks ago and, ever since, I've had an overwhelming urge to switch from Google Docs to Microsoft Word.

Oreservoir · 13/01/2021 17:32

Has your dm never seen a dog being chipped? The vet uses a very thick needle. And that's just to insert a number.
God knows what they'd need to track us for decades.
What I find amusing is the arrogance that your dm assumes she's so interesting.

Perhaps she thinks they'll switch her off when she's lived to a certain age!

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/01/2021 17:33

@fluffysocksgoodbookwine

Sympathies OP. My MIL says she’s doubtful about getting the vaccine because (I kid you not) the alignment of Jupiter and Saturn recently means it’s useless. I’m a GP, and have been in a vaccine trial since last June. DH is an ITU consultant. We’ve tried to explain rationally, but she just gets a stubborn look on her face and says ‘we’ll see’! Confused
Flipping heck, she won’t see if she gets Covid & passes away.

Although my black humour says it would make a death certificate worth framing if she did pass away with it. No one else would have one the same.

We will indeed see though and will re-convene in a year to see if she was right after all 🤨 and you have to eat your words.

Tangledtresses · 13/01/2021 17:36

@Megalodon

Well your title to me read as chips, the potato variety. I was wondering firstly if they're trying to fatten us up Grin
Can we get fatter??? 🤣

ErrolTheDragon · 13/01/2021 17:40

Surely he’s one of the “good guys”.

Tbf if you're old enough to remember the 'blue screen of death' you might wonder about that.
Tell her to get the Oxford vaccine, it's the equivalent of open source linux.Grin

EffOrf · 13/01/2021 17:42

Let's hope it's better than the app

ErrolTheDragon · 13/01/2021 17:43
  • He is helping people vibrate at a higher frequency or something? These are educated, left-wing British people.

They can't possibly be well educated if they believe that. Of course, there are plenty of graduates who are scientifically functionally illiterate.

ekidmxcl · 13/01/2021 17:45

Has your mum ever seen a dog getting microchipped? Could you show her a vid? A vaccine needle is rather smaller! (A microchip is wider than the needle for vaccines!).

Then if she still can’t get in touch with her logical brain, ask her exactly what she is scared of this chip detecting? Her buying potatoes in Tesco’s? What does she have that is so private? Perhaps you should accuse her of being a Russian sleeper spy if her life is so private. See how she likes conspiracy theory turned on her.

ekidmxcl · 13/01/2021 17:47

Or tell her that her dickhead dh is the Russian spy Grin

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 13/01/2021 17:48

It's just attention seeking
Say that's nice mum then move on

fluffysocksgoodbookwine · 13/01/2021 17:51

@Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum
Sadly, she’s not kidding. She and her sisters have long been adherents of astrology. I’ve had 20 years of this rubbish. I just smile and nod usually, but she’s very anxious, and wants us to still socially distance to protect her (she’s in a bubble with us) if she refuses the vaccine. I haven’t seen my parents in almost a year, so we had cross words about that.

Borisjohnsonshairbrush · 13/01/2021 17:51

So say if shes goes missing you'll be calling around all the local vets then to be handed in.....

StillGoingToWork · 13/01/2021 17:52

My husband believes all this crap. Like he believed the Pizzagate crap and the US Elections conspiracy crap. Bill Gates, George Soros, the whole caboodle. It's had an effect on our marriage, definitely.

Sparklfairy · 13/01/2021 17:56

@ThePlantsitter

Honestly I don't think a microchip could do anything that an electrical device willingly carried around by 80% of people (who are willing to share info like their bank details, how many steps they do a day, and what the person they sat next to in French when they were 12 had for their tea last night with it) could do. So does it matter at this stage?
The is the thing! Our entire LIVES are on our phones! Apart from maybe giving Bill Gates our blood group info, what more could he possibly want?!
Suzi888 · 13/01/2021 17:58

“The lipid nanoparticles in the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine protect and transport the vaccine component. They do not contain little computers or robots.” Would she believe you if you fact check it?
Hope she gets it!

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 13/01/2021 18:16

She can still have the vaccine but it would be a good idea to wear a tin foil hat when she is out of doors to prevent the signals being transmitted to Bill Gates' Collection Station that is on Venus.

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/01/2021 18:24

I wouldn’t want to be on a vaccine research team. You make a vaccine to stop people dying and then have to convince the population it doesn’t contain robots.

Emeeno1 · 13/01/2021 18:35

Everyone here already knows that the use of microchips placed under the skin to identify is already widely used already. Most dogs and cats have them.

I don't believe microchips are in the vaccine but to pretend that this isn't possible is surely going against the evidence of our own pets?

Try thinking about this a bit more and RTFT perhaps.Hmm
