My mum believe the vaccines have chips in them

Designed by Bill Gates.

I don't know what to say to her! She said she'll refuse the vaccine.

Try the "that's what everyone thinks, so many people avoiding the vaccine because if it, that's what they want you to believe" "I'd be on the safe side and take it, I'm surprised you just believe what you are told and really look into it"

Or even further "its a conspiracy by the banks, to get the at risk to not get the vaccine, higher mortality, less pensions. don't fall for it!"

nongnangning · 13/01/2021 15:58

Yes @giantangryrooster you are right it would need a very patient approach. You would really have to love someone to be bothered with it.

Coffeeandaride · 13/01/2021 15:58

I was not being serious and

"I totally understand your concerns. The world is upside down and it's hard to know what info to trust. Ultimately, it's your decision. I would just hate to see you unable to participate in your old favourite activities or unable to see friends because you don't get vaccinated."

is really good

giantangryrooster · 13/01/2021 16:08

Actually @Coffeeandaride I quite like your "its a conspiracy by the banks, to get the at risk to not get the vaccine, higher mortality, less pensions. don't fall for it!" and if I was really annoyed I might add 'I'll just wait for the inheritance' Sad.

But I have a feeling the other quote would be more effective (and loving) Grin.

GabsAlot · 13/01/2021 16:08

i have one in the family -hes conpsiracy theorist anyway i dongt mind some discussions but when he bleats on about david icke and being microchipped i just roll my eyes

he asked why would i want the vaccine-i said so i dont get covid-oh so youre ok to be tracked then

yes i said i own a mobile phone

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/01/2021 16:21

@giantangryrooster

Erh I've been looking for tracking chips for my cats. No luck yet, so if your dm can tell us where to get them?

Guess there would be a big marked for straying dhs too Grin.

😂

Dh is motor trade, there’s enough divorces as it is. The brochure cupboard would look like a Jackson Pollock if you went in there with a uv light.

Would also like a cat tracking chip. It is the dream.

bingowingsmcgee · 13/01/2021 16:30

For those who say we're bein tracked by smartphones anyway, yes, but there's a big difference between a tracker that you can put down or destroy, and one that's inside you. And no, I don't believe the vaccine contains a tracking device, but a loved one does, so I'm used to having to tentatively broach rational arguments

giantangryrooster · 13/01/2021 16:36

@Fluffycloudland77
😂 and the Jackson Pollock 🤮.

lemonsquashie · 13/01/2021 16:41

If the Gov want to insert chips into the population, wouldn't they just add it to the MMR, flu Hpv etc?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 13/01/2021 16:41

I can wholly empathise, OP.

I have a client who keeps telling me that Parler is/was the only place you get the truth. It was removed for being too important, too strong!!!

Apparently, and I swear she showed me a clip of a cavalcade of black vans and a moped at sunset to prove it, They* arrested the Pope!! Only Tommy R and Parler were brave enough to tell us.

There was more, lots mores, but that bit stood out!

  • no idea who They are, sorry!
ErrolTheDragon · 13/01/2021 16:41

Maybe the OP should point out to her DM that the (nonexistent) chip only works if she's caught straying and gets scanned by a vet?Grin

Actual tracking devices - used by ornithologists etc, who need them to be as light as possible so the birds can still fly - are relatively large, of course. Show her an image search of 'tracking device birds'.

shotofchips · 13/01/2021 16:43

I said exactly this.

Buttercupcup · 13/01/2021 16:46

I’m getting mine next week at work, Bill is going to bored to tears when he realises I literally go to the hospital, my house or sainsburys 😂

Malbecfan · 13/01/2021 16:48

My idiot sister is like this. She doesn't want our 85yo father to be vaccinated. He was keen, then pressured by her, he wavered. Bless them, my 2 science-studying DDs explained how the vaccines were created and work to him. Dad is not stupid and was most impressed so is due to get the first tomorrow (DD1 is acting as taxi). Not-so-DSis is livid but thankfully is 1500 miles away inflicting her crap on the poor unsuspecting Spaniards.

Before I blocked her, the last message told me that her "friend in London who is a nurse said that the hospitals are empty". There's no arguing with stupid.

I love @Coffeeandaride's bank explanation. I might use it if I end up unblocking her.

This!
MindGrapes · 13/01/2021 16:54

So if you can't destroy it how long does it last - forever? - and where does it draw power from? Is it transmitting something? How?

fluffysocksgoodbookwine · 13/01/2021 16:56

Sympathies OP.
My MIL says she’s doubtful about getting the vaccine because (I kid you not) the alignment of Jupiter and Saturn recently means it’s useless.
I’m a GP, and have been in a vaccine trial since last June. DH is an ITU consultant. We’ve tried to explain rationally, but she just gets a stubborn look on her face and says ‘we’ll see’! Confused

MindGrapes · 13/01/2021 16:56

To be more serious, a lot of people testify that hard facts/ derision etc doesn't work and only entrenches the 'everyone against us' feeling.
Responding more like 'oh, that's interesting, I hadn't heard that. What do you think are the benefits of tracking physical movements? Is there anything we could find out to help us understand a bit more about it?'

i.e. neutral questioning - is better....

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 13/01/2021 16:59

I think one of my sons would call that Darwinism Grin

Seriously though tell her to stop reading or listening to rubbish. Then ask her why the hell she thinks Bill Gates would want to micro chip Margaret from Reading?

Then come and tell us all the answer.

Are you sure she isn't having fun winding you up?

Sounds like the rubbish I would tell my adult kids for a laughGrin

ThePlantsitter · 13/01/2021 17:03

Honestly I don't think a microchip could do anything that an electrical device willingly carried around by 80% of people (who are willing to share info like their bank details, how many steps they do a day, and what the person they sat next to in French when they were 12 had for their tea last night with it) could do. So does it matter at this stage?

Aquamarine1029 · 13/01/2021 17:04

Tell her Bill Gates is far too busy communicating with aliens than to care what some batshit old lady in jolly ol' England is doing.

GypsyLee · 13/01/2021 17:05

She could be right.
Stranger hings have happened. Grin

draughtycatflap · 13/01/2021 17:11

@notalwaysalondoner

I feel for Bill Gates, I really do - decades of world-leading philanthropy and people think he's out to get them nevertheless. Poor guy.
Whereas Sue Pollard is an evil genius with nothing to lose...

Besides, this government is too cheapskate for all that electronic malarky. They are more likely to buy a load of cattle ear tags for us lot.

Backbee · 13/01/2021 17:13

I would be very impressed if they managed to build a chip which was fully liquid (as the content in the syringe is), it could change a lot tech wise. Ask her in seriousness why she thinks anyone would be remotely interested in tracking her.
