And to the posters saying stay outside to keep safe...No way in hell am I spending my working day in the freezing cold with children crying because they are so bloody cold...cannot believe parents would be happy to have their kids out in the freezing cold all day honestly all parents care about are having their kids out of the way its really shocked me tbh.
Having their kids out of the way? Cheap shot- so here’s one back, nursery workers just want to be paid and not work!!! Not true?, of course it isn’t!

Parents want their child to play and learn in a safe happy setting and pay through the nose to make sure they do.

How about friends? Do you have any friends with children of a similar age? No need to share your personal circumstances (very unwise on a public site) but is that an option to consider? Again, you are saying ‘no’ to everything but what would you do? Is there a Plan B? Honestly, I think you will be okay, but it doesn’t hurt.

Your nursery sounds like they are trying really hard. I still think nursery staff are getting a raw deal.

Two people I know personally have been advised that their Nurseries are closing for now (I.e. furloughing all staff and mothballing) as they don't have the ability to operate safely and make money.

Both also asked for donations last September.

Yesterday I took some children out in the nursery garden...after 10 mins they were crying to come in they were so cold despite wearing coats, hats gloves etc.
What on earth were they wearing for 10 minutes to be cold?!

My son has thermal vest, long sleeve top, jumper and snow jacket, leggings, warm joggers, and ski trousers. Warm boots, a fleece hood or fleece lined hat and 2 pairs of gloves incase one gets wet......
Definitely not cold and it's not been above 4 degrees here for over 6 weeks.
No such thing as bad weather just bad clothing!

@BustopherPonsonbyJones they are fantastic and yes they try hard and we appreciate the staff now more than ever as it's down to key workers/less than 50% capacity as in Scotland.
I don't know about other nursery staff but I know the ones at my sons nursery love what they do and have all been there a long time (newest member is 5 years) . My SIL is a nursery worker so I know this isn't the same for all nursery's but I think it's incorrect to say all nurseries are the same, have high risk every day etc as like any business it's down to what they implement.

Same as going into cafes you know which ones you feel really safe in and ones which you regret sitting down at!

Maybe the difference is the 50% capacity? It does sound like they are doing something right which I’m not sure is happening in England.

It's only been 50% capacity for the last 2 weeks with the scottish changes was at 80% from Aug til Christmas still only 1 case since March Smile

I haven’t actually said I would struggle I have referenced working parents, I’ve said nothing of my set up and haven’t asked for suggestions to help me with child care.
