Who has had the vaccine?

I'm confused as to who is getting the vaccine? I thought it was the over 90s then over 80s first, care homes and carers, medical staff? I'm hearing now that people can just go online and book themselves in for a vaccine but know of people over 80 that still haven't had it or been offered it? Does it depend where you live?

Kim82 · 10/01/2021 19:49

I had it on Friday as an NHS worker.

Turtletotem · 10/01/2021 19:59

That's good to hear it's getting to those groups.
Unclamied vaccine? Does that mean people didn't show up for their appointment I wonder?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 10/01/2021 20:12

A work colleague's parents have (both over 80) and 2 of my family members in the NHS have, also a friend working in a nursing home.

trimtops · 10/01/2021 20:19

I was called in by my GP on 31st December

65 years old, not a worker, but had a heart attack a year ago.

I live in a small village of about 4000, so maybe thats why?

PurBal · 10/01/2021 20:20

Yeah, also know someone who got an unclaimed vaccine (married to a GP). Aged 42. It was a Pfizer one and they were desperately trying to find people so it didn't go to waste and get thrown out (because of the storage issues). The only other people I know who have had it is NHS workers and over 90s.

Arrierttyclock · 10/01/2021 20:26

I had it on Tuesday and got my other vaccine booked in for March. I'm a dental nurse in the NHS

DianaT1969 · 10/01/2021 20:27

In my opinion, random people getting the unclaimed vaccines at the end of the day is a good thing. It means we'll have data on whether Covid is still transferable sooner. Older people or vulnerable might continue to semi-shield from the unvaccinated public for a long time, whereas people of working age, in a non healthcare setting who have the vaccine are likely to mix, and we'll know sooner if it blocks transmission. That's my uninformed, non-scientific guess. 😃

My husband and I have just had our second dose. First on 20 December. My husband is 94 and I am 88.

gingajewel · 10/01/2021 20:29

I have, work for a private health care company, ive had both lots now.

plg21 · 10/01/2021 20:30

My parents (80 and 86) have had both doses (SW Herts).

AgnesNaismith · 10/01/2021 20:32

Can people go online and book the vaccine? In the vulnerable groups? If that is an option, please say how - I have 4 CEV in my extended family who would jump at the chance.

They can only book online if they've been sent a letter by their GP inviting them to book.
BolloxtoGender · 10/01/2021 20:33

What’s the record keeping like? Do you get a card with your ID, does it go into a central database? Does it get sent to your GP clinic?

PolytheneHam · 10/01/2021 20:35

I haven't had an invite yet and I'm front line NHS. I had Covid in November though, so I'm actually safe for the moment.

Pieceofpurplesky · 10/01/2021 20:35

80+ parents haven't yet ... and been told it could be weeks.

Alfaix · 10/01/2021 20:36

I have, dentist. Most of the staff at my practice had it this week also.
It’s a bit of a postcode lottery but most places are doing over 80s- it doesn’t go in reverse age order though 😂, health and care workers. As Oxford comes out they are going in to care homes to do them too.

hopewardrobe · 10/01/2021 20:37

I had my first one this week (NHS frontline). I received a card with details written on and was told to bring it to my next vaccination. Nurse then advised me to laminate and keep card safe as I would need it to travel in the future

notangelinajolie · 10/01/2021 20:39

FIL 82 had his 2nd Pfizer on the 7th.

Mousehole10 · 10/01/2021 20:39

My grandparents (80+) have, and my NHS friends.

Littlefish · 10/01/2021 20:41

My DM (76) and Dad (79) had theirs last week. They had a phone call to ask them to get to the GP clinic within 10 minutes for two unclaimed Pfizer vaccines.
