Is Matt Hancock in his downstairs loo?

OP posts:
cloudbusting42 · 10/01/2021 09:30

I'm not sure but he has painted it to match the parliamentary briefcase

CountessFrog · 10/01/2021 09:34

He’s such a cock.

MushMonster · 10/01/2021 09:51

Schools are safe for children.
That is a very re-assuring statement. And data does show very low incidence of serious cases in children, though a bit higher on secondary children.
How do you feel about having all adults vaccinated but no children? In particular secondary children? I am very worried about this. I cannot feel she is really safe surrounded by people who are vaccinated. We most likely already had it back at the end of February. She had no symptoms whatsoever. So we should have some immunity. But her not having the vaccine too is worrying for me. I am worried about new variants becoming more dangerous to our young ones.

My favourite ministerial home background is Grant Shapps, who appears to have a union flag and a stylishly open ministerial red box on his desk. Nice.

Spidey66 · 10/01/2021 09:54

I said exactly the same! My husband said "He's in his study" but if he's sitting behind a desk and chair I don't know how he got there. He'd have to climb over his desk!

the80sweregreat · 10/01/2021 10:00

It's a tiny room isn't it? I dislike the colour red on walls.

Grant Shapps has a banner behind him saying his own name , which I find amusing. He never seems to take any of it seriously either.

Calmandmeasured1 · 10/01/2021 10:01

Keir Starmer on now. Andrew Marr, rightly, pulled him up on his position on schools which was exactly the same as Boris Johnson's 7 days ago. He wanted kids in school.

CountessFrog · 10/01/2021 10:05

Also trying to draw him on whether teachers need vaccinating before schools can open.

Pretty sure the teaching unions are going to hold the country to ransom on this, which would be disgusting

Justmuddlingalong · 10/01/2021 10:07

On a lighter hearted note, how can Professor Brian Cox be 52? Even in HD I struggled to see a single wrinkle or eye bag.

LouLou198 · 10/01/2021 10:08

It reminds me of the broom cupboard from children's TV in the 80's!

grafittiartist · 10/01/2021 10:09

It's a unions job to fight for the safety of workers.

the80sweregreat · 10/01/2021 10:11

Prof Cox must have a painting in the attic! Amazing teeth and hair.

grafittiartist · 10/01/2021 10:12

Yes- he never ages!!

It’s disgusting that teachers don’t want to work in dangerous conditions. that literally no one else is exposed to? You do know you children will have no good teachers EVER AGAIN if you make it such a shit job that everyone worth having leaves? I’m seriously considering handing in my notice. I don’t have to work and I’m not a martyr. I’m a very experienced, good teacher and we are hard to replace.
MrsSiba · 10/01/2021 10:15

I thought the same, like like a down stairs loo, looking at the narrow width and all the stuff on the walls. Bottom left, closest to the screen looked like a disc that artists get when sales reach a certain amount!

peak2021 · 10/01/2021 10:16

Matt Hancock is the only cabinet minister who seems prepared to face the press/media on a regular basis. Unlike those such as Gavin Williamson.

GoldenLabbie · 10/01/2021 10:16

It looks like a converted downstairs toilet to me lol.

Sakesman · 10/01/2021 10:18

Peak2021 yeah don’t like him but got to agree he’s game for the cameras

Crumpetycrump · 10/01/2021 10:18

He’s definitely found the Grecian 2000!

Why is it Kier Starker comes into the studio but Matt is at home for the interview?

MushMonster · 10/01/2021 10:45

Because Matt Hancock put this as an example of how we should abide by the Stay at Home guideline. So, if you can do the interview from home, do so. Avoid as many links in the chain as possibly.
I think he did right.

MushMonster · 10/01/2021 10:52

Am I the only one whos is freighting about a secondary child ( so biologically much like myself) not being vaccinated coming next winter "wave"?
I put wave in comas, as hopefully there will not really be one if the adults are mostly vaccinated by then. I do get that would protect my DD too. But I still want for her the same protections as for myself. I know peadetricians have asked for vaccines for children. Pfizer has been tested down to her age, which helps to put my mind at rest a bit. Yet, no licensed yet. I think Moderna is testing now, and Astra too. They reckon vaccines will be ready around summer 2021!
Am I the only one feeling uneasy about this?

(And, yes, I know the amount of under 19s affected is very low. It is not 0.000000 though.)

plg21 · 10/01/2021 10:53

When I first saw Hancock on the show this morning, I thought he'd been inadvertently locked into a 50 shades style room of pleasure. Completely irrational I know, but I felt slightly panicky that there was no door visible to escape.
Appreciate that working from home has its challenges but surely he could have found a less distracting room to sit in? Also, what was the odd striped black and white blazer hanging up?
Mind you, I was then mesmerised by how much make up Starmer had on. Clearly lockdown is getting to me.

the80sweregreat · 10/01/2021 11:29

Gavin stays away from the press as much possible. His a coward at heart while the right wing press are just happy to blame the teacher unions for everything and think he should ' stand up to them' and be more Mrs Thatcher , even though a lot of the mess is made by the government by sending out mixed messages all the time regarding schools and is loving the whole divide and rule that is going on with pupils and their parents no doubt.

Hancock always looks like hes been pushed to the front by the big bullies.

Probably truer than we realise.
