Have had their vaccinations today, apparently at home in Windsor Castle.

OP posts:

Great news. My dad had his before Christmas & he’s a lot younger than the queen.

lubeybooby · 09/01/2021 17:41

good, my grandparents are getting theirs tomorrow, nice to know it's all ticking along

cyclingmad · 09/01/2021 17:42

So what, who cares if they get it or not

Casmama · 09/01/2021 17:44

This thread is quite interesting. It starts with a simple statement of fact and is followed by a number of people implying the OP is trying to stir things up - which probably says more about the subsequent posters than it does about the OP, the standard contrary point of view which has the desired effect and generates outrage in others and the ones who come on to say "who cares" - presumably they care enough to bother posting that.

I think it is good news that two elderly people have had the vaccine and commend them on allowing it to become public as it may well influence others in a similar age group to take it which can only be a good thing.

NewspaperTaxis · 09/01/2021 17:52

I'm only interested in which vaccine they had, the Pfizer or the Oxford one. It feels a bit Betamax v VHS showing my age there.
I'd like to know if the Oxford one nobbles the new strain.

BTW I live in Surrey and heard nothing from anyone so far about the vaccine on behalf of a very elderly parent. Not too bothered as yet however.

RuthTopp · 09/01/2021 17:53

Oh dear !
When I posted this , it was just as a statement of fact.
Nothing about ' stiring up trouble '
My MIL had her 1st one 3 weeks ago , and her 2nd one today.
Thats it . Post over .

Foobydoo · 09/01/2021 17:53

I wonder if they were given the moderna vaccine as it seems the most effective and was approved yesterday.
I do think the statement was important as hopefully it will encourage others in that age group to be vaccinated.

What is the point of just starting a thread stating a fact and saying nothing else at all? If not to stir things up? Is it a public service announcement? Confused

What were you expecting the replies to be though? You didn't comment on it yourself.
CoronaIsWatching · 09/01/2021 17:58

Fair enough, but she's isolated in a bubble with no danger of coming into contact with Covid. Lots of 70+ y/o's are more vulnerable imo

Mrgrinch · 09/01/2021 17:58

Excellent news.

God save the Queen.

CantSayJack · 09/01/2021 18:01

Good for them - if true.
We’ll never know will we if they actually had it.

middleager · 09/01/2021 18:09

My FIL, 83, got his weeks ago. My dad, 76 and his wife, 62, got theirs yesterday due to some unclaimed doses at the GP's surgery where her daughter works.

Every person who gets vaccinated helps us all.

BolloxtoGender · 09/01/2021 18:12

Great news.

Casmama · 09/01/2021 18:32

@Sparklingbrook there is and has always been a shitload of pointless threads on here. I just presume someone reads something in the news and thinks oh that's interesting and starts a thread 🤷‍♀️- it passes the time

peak2021 · 09/01/2021 18:35

A 94 year old woman and her 99 year old husband had the vaccine today. Recently an 80 year old man who is seeking French citizenship had his too.

Hopefully encouraging others by their example.

I guess so. or they are relatively new to MN and don't realise how much frothing there is over the Royal Family every time they are mentioned...

DookaDakkaDikku · 09/01/2021 18:46

It's great that they made the fact they'd received it public. Tony Blair caused a lot of harm by refusing to confirm whether his young son Leo had received the MMR during the time it was in the news (turned out later that he had)

holidayoncorona · 09/01/2021 19:32

Does this mean they got the Astra Zeneca jab then? As Pfizer one needs specialist freezer?

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 09/01/2021 19:38

Good to hear it. A wee step closer to my loved ones getting it. (About 25 years younger)

Not a surprise to see some comments. Folk will leave the gate to the cunt field open...

The Moderna vaccine isn't due into the country until Apil.
namesnamesnamesnames · 09/01/2021 19:43

It was mentioned earlier upthread that over half of over 80s have been vaccinated? Is this true? Lovely to know if so.

elfycat · 09/01/2021 19:51

While Britain is pushing ahead with the vaccination I know some people in European countries have concerns over the vaccine. Perhaps this high profile immunisation might encourage others to have it.

And at their age they qualify for it same as everyone else. It would be odd if they didn't get it now. I hope all of those receiving it get the benefit of safety and eventually being able to see their families soon.

rwalker · 09/01/2021 19:53

@Duanphen
Obviously. They're rich.

Wow my mum had her's before christmas does that mean she's richer than the queen
