1.5 million people vaccinated already - brilliant!

They’ve vaccinated 1.5 million people so far and the target is 13.9 million people (the top 4 groups in the attached graphic) by the middle of February, according to ITV. It’ll be a fantastic achievement if they can hit that target.

The government will be providing daily updates on the vaccine rollout progress from Monday 11th January.

It’s such a relief that they’ve got this vaccine and are rolling it out quickly across the country. Considering that it’s only 8th January today, I truly feel like 13.9 million by mid February is achievable.

Come on, let’s do this!

“But worrying that today there were plenty of appointments available for tomorrow. If there are empty appointments then maybe they should open it up to the next priority group.”

Believe that is happening already in some areas, where over 70s are being called.

@DenisetheMenace haha cross post

CoffeeandCroissant · 21/01/2021 20:52

Yes, but Denmark started 3 weeks later than us, it's just the numbers for the first 20 days from day 1 of vaccinations starting in each country. (Only goes up to 20 days because on day 21 other countries give the second Pfizer dose, but the UK (mostly) does not.)

Blessex · 21/01/2021 20:53

That Europe chart that you showed earlier @CoffeeandCroissant. That’s surely not right? Unless they are taking 20 days after STARTING as oppose to the situation now. My DH (Dutch) says that all the convo is about curfews and stopping flights from the U.K. They are focussing on that in their (fallen) government to divert from the real issue. Vaccine rollout.

Blessex · 21/01/2021 20:53

@CoffeeandCroissant yep cross post !

thatgingergirl · 21/01/2021 21:21

I am fascinated by the charts on here - I spend far too much time clicking on the maps! ourworldindata.org/covid-vaccinations
@GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat thanks for sharing that - it’s great to hear that leftover supplies are getting used!
It’s great isn’t it in so many ways. We never want one vaccine to go to waste and this is such a clever way to ease the situation when they get to police they’ll be slightly less of them that need doing. They did say ‘we’ve no idea how your second dose will be done, that’s for you to sort out’. So that will be something we need to investigate.

On a personal level I’m thankful DH has been so lucky. The abuse from (some of) the public they are receiving (spitting, coughing, threats that they have COVID and hope they catch it too) and vulnerable situations they are being put in is so stressful.

lunar1 · 22/01/2021 06:33

@GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat, once you are in the system as having had the first dose a letter will be automatically generated inviting people to book the second when it's time. It doesn't discriminate as to the circumstances of the first vaccine.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 22/01/2021 06:40

Oh brilliant! I did wonder that point with DH last night. So glad to know it’s automatic, I’ve noted the 11 week mark date in my diary just in case we don’t hear anything. Just me to go then, I work in early years so also a bit stressed Blush

A quick question if any knows, @lunar1 you may..... DS turns 18 at the end of the year when hopefully all adults have been vaccinated, will 18 year olds just be added to the programme continually as they turn 18? Or is it just for those who are adults now? Does that make sense?

Herhereherhere · 22/01/2021 07:37

@GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat. Vaccine is licensed from 16 up so he may be included in the vaccine programme as a 17 year old.

lunar1 · 22/01/2021 08:55

I'm not sure on the 16-18 age group at this point. I have very little information on what's to come because I'm just a volunteer there and not proper full time staff like most. I can only do a few evenings when DH gets home from work and it just allows the staff to have a coffee break without interrupting the flow.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 22/01/2021 12:38

It’s confusing isn’t it? I’ve seen mixed information so was just wondering. I would think they’d want to get them all vaccinated before (if) they all head off to uni and spread it.

Thank you for the info and thank you for volunteering! Amazing job Flowers

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/01/2021 13:03

By this time next week, you'll be able to add me to the numbers done. Grin

Yes you might have to stand around in the cold so maybe a pashmina over the strapless evening gown?

CaveMum · 22/01/2021 14:53

This is also great news, cases falling in almost every council area now (courtesy of Covidmessenger)

I don't like the daily mail, but I do like their graphs. Over 400,000 vaccines in a single day!

buttery81 · 22/01/2021 16:34

You’re not going to believe this...

5,383,103 people have now vaccinated up to and including 21 January 2021

YES!!!!

herecomesthsun · 22/01/2021 16:36

I believe it Grin

OooErrThor · 22/01/2021 16:37

It's such good news about the vaccine, it seems to be really ramping up which is fantastic news.

buttery81 · 22/01/2021 16:37

That means over 10% of all UK adults have now received their first dose and as @lunar1 says, there were over 400,000 vaccinations reported for yesterday alone!

Best. Day. Yet. Grin
