Just interested, there doesn’t appear to be any general consensus on this? I’ve seen some say after Feb half term but I’m doubting that.

Nobody knows that's why there's no consensus.

cadburyegg · 06/01/2021 16:53

I think after the Easter holidays or possibly after the May half term, but it will be a gradual return/priority year groups only.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 06/01/2021 16:53

If they open at all this year I’ll say after Easter

louisejxxx · 06/01/2021 16:53

I think given that they’ve said they want to meet their ambitious vaccine target by 15th Feb, and that it will then be 2 or 3 weeks before the last of those people will have immunity, I think beginning of March may be more realistic. But that’s only if they actually meet the target! Boris did atleast say today that schools will be the first thing back open.

Itisasecret · 06/01/2021 16:53

Easter if we are lucky. The problem is, no one is taking it seriously. They still aren’t. Way too much household mixing is going on.

ivefuckinghadenoughnow · 06/01/2021 16:54

I'm clinging on to reception, Y1 and Y2 going back after Feb half term like they did after lockdown 1

hettyhooverdoover · 06/01/2021 16:55

I hope the week after Feb half term. So first week of March.

TheGriffle · 06/01/2021 16:56

After Feb half term at the earliest.

IggyAce · 06/01/2021 16:58

I’m expecting it won’t be until after the Easter holidays.

Monkeytennis97 · 06/01/2021 16:58

I think primaries will go back in March and secondaries after Easter but staggered possibly.

Notnamechangeday · 06/01/2021 16:59

I’m thinking Easter. For y11 & 13 maybe end of Feb.

Lottie4 · 06/01/2021 17:03

I'd say after Easter for both primaries and secondaries.

blue25 · 06/01/2021 17:03

After Easter at the earliest.

ILoveAnOwl · 06/01/2021 17:04

I work in three schools. None of us are expecting to see everyone back until after Easter at the earliest.

BraeburnPlace · 06/01/2021 17:08

At this rate, never...due to the ridiculously broad key worker and vulnerable children definitions. In some schools 85% of children can attend. Thanks Gav for broadening the vulnerable category today ( any child with no access to a devise or without a quiet space to work at home...)

We didn’t have any Y2 back in my school until September.

I suspect that in changing the criteria for who is entitled to a school space-the government have put too many people in schools. This means that covid spread and numbers will not decrease and lockdown will last much longer.

MarshaBradyo · 06/01/2021 17:15

Too many students in for primary situation to make much of a dent.

Secondary remote will help more.

felicitywishdoll · 06/01/2021 17:17

I don’t remember reception-y2 returning after feb last time? Although my child is older so maybe I didn’t notice or the school just didn’t do it.

Good point that nobody can really predict or guess.

OP posts:
felicitywishdoll · 06/01/2021 17:19

And perhaps they will expand criteria first? Eg my child’s primary only has spaces for key worker children and not automatically children with SEN, maybe they will gradually expand who can attend before fully reopening

It's his fault they haven't got fucking devices. Literally HIS FAULT.

He's such a cee you next Tuesday. Honestly. He must have so many secrets from his whip days. He's utterly rubbish.

GypsyLee · 06/01/2021 17:25

They haven't closed, many have the same as usual attending.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 06/01/2021 17:25

By which you mean 'Too mant students in for primary staff and the community around primary schools to stay safe.' Super.

Oblomov20 · 06/01/2021 17:47

After Easter? Possibly?

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 06/01/2021 17:54

May half term or June like last year. Too many claiming spaces at the moment to make much of a difference.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 06/01/2021 17:56

Im hoping they don't prioritise year groups in Primary again. It was great for them, rubbish for the rest of the school with no teachers available for the 'home school' part. Rotas before that, if anything.
