Surely there is something more constructive we could be doing to support our key workers and not just those in the NHS?
If we all wrote to our MP's every thursday night for the duration of the lockdown about under investment and appalling pay in social care and the NHS that would be more benifical than standing out in the cold mindlessly clapping

It's a big fat no from me as the stupid clap will achieve absolutely nothing. It was a nice gesture on the first Thursday it happened but i stopped doing it after that and it became an excuse for people to shame those not doing the clap during the first lock down. I bet the sheep on my street will do it and it will be a noise competition.

Maybe Plas is hoping for a Queen's medal coz missed out??

I think instead of clapping we should be encouraged to all donate what we can once a month on a Thurs online towards research and Nhs funding which is already under funded and underpaid!

Agree, if every person who took part had donated even £1 each week imagine how much money would have been raised. Would have made it much more worthwhile.

Down my road its the people that clap like self-righteous yet gormless seals that seem to break the rules more often!

The NHS would much rather that people play their part and follow the guidance of lockdown. I know people who break the rules for stupid excuses (not genuine reasons) and are posting in FB about how they can’t wait to do clap the heroes again, arseholes

Btw who the fuck is this plas woman? A mate of Carrie???? Seriously she is an arrogant upstart who seems to get a lot of media coverage but I’ve no idea why. She didn’t start the clapping, it originated in Wuhan. She has seriously misjudged the public mood.

I participated last time, it was actually quite emotional in our residential road, all the neighbours out including elderly, a friendly distanced chat afterwards to check everyone was ok. But it's run it's course. It's different this time. We didn't think we'd see another lockdown. It's cold and dark. Stay indoors and donate instead.

It was very patronising, returning from work and people I’d never spoken to before stood outside screaming and clapping at me.

On top of it now being a load of patronising wank didn’t it encourage a load of street parties or am I imagining that? That conga thing people were doing in the streets...?
I went out once last time when I thought it was actually helping and my neighbour jumped her hedge to get to me... I didn’t do it again... surely it’s completely defeating the object??
