It’s back under a new name “clap for heroes.”

OP posts:
Covine · 06/01/2021 19:01

Fuck, no.

@Natsel84 I am so sorry about your dad. Flowers

Natsel84 · 06/01/2021 19:03
@Natsel84 I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. I have lost my own mum aswell and know how horrendous it is not being able to spend their final days/hours with them. However, as a worker in a COVID ward, I have absolute anxiety about passing on anything to ANY of my patients. We spend all day and night cleaning, washing hands, wearing masks, gloves, visors, goggles etc. and I can say with absolute certainty it is a HCPs worst nightmare to have passed anything on to a patient unknowingly. I know it doesn't help you at all, but please know I'm sorry this has happened and so will the staff who were caring for him be.
Thank you .

I assume by 'Heroes' they mean the likes of Batman as there is no real living person who benefits from this.

Redburnett · 06/01/2021 19:08

No.

maddiemookins16mum · 06/01/2021 19:08

Nope, it’s ridiculous. Hopefully people will use their hands to

a) put masks on
b) wash them
and
c) shut their doors and stay home.

YoniAndGuy · 06/01/2021 19:09

The only possible way it could have been made shittier would be to shoehorn in the nauseating use of the word 'Heroes'

vomit

Dowser · 06/01/2021 19:09

@Ssandy52

No. I don’t believe in this lockdown. I won’t be doing it.
Me neither.
isseys4xmastinselcats · 06/01/2021 19:13

no i live in a street where the only people who talk to us are our neighbours either side (we havent done anything wrong and are not bad mad neighbours )and last time one in ten houses came out and clapped it sounded pathetic not enough people doing it and we still have ice and snow on our road sorry but im staying in the warm healthy and safe

Opinionator · 06/01/2021 19:19

God, you lot are a right miserable bunch! I'll be clapping for them! 👏

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 06/01/2021 19:29

Well, with rare foresight on my behalf, I recorded the last clapping session on my phone. I have now just made this recording my alarm sound and have set it to go off at eight o’clock every Thursday evening.

So all I have to do now is prop the phone in my open letterbox and let it do the clapping for me, while I catch up with the BBC's Eldorado on Youtube.

I think NHS staff have been doing an amazing job. I haven't ever stood on my step to clap, but I think you do a brilliant job and should be getting paid extra.

GintyMcGinty · 06/01/2021 19:43

No not this time.

NeedWineNow · 06/01/2021 19:45

No definitely not.

Yup
Sonicthehedgehogg · 06/01/2021 19:58

Ha! Brilliant. Didn't even take that long for the resentment to show on this thread alone.

We didn't ask for claps. We didn't ask for freebies. We didn't ask for discounts.

It's not a race to the bottom.

Wasabiaddiction · 06/01/2021 20:01

No way.

WolfHunter · 06/01/2021 20:03

I did last time with the kids, but it's the same shit different day. The dickheads over the road will shout and cheer, then allow random people in to buy weed. Fucking hypocrites.

I value every single front line worker maybe the government will pay them more and give them decent working conditions.... or we can just clap... again...

cherrypie790 · 06/01/2021 20:06

No, and we didn't do it before.

NHS workers are in the job by choice and are being paid. Unlike DH and I as we've got no fucking money coming into our business thanks to yet another lockdown.

BraeburnPlace · 06/01/2021 20:12

Really respect the NHS workers, you are doing an amazingly tough job. I work in education for an LA and know how tough that is right now, but not a patch on what you are going through.

No I won't be clapping, I don't think it will happen. I don't think the public mood supports this. Pulling together, thinking of others and being part of the greater good has gone sadly.

Nancylovesthecock · 06/01/2021 20:17

Nope

Annamaywong25 · 06/01/2021 20:22

Not this time, no.

Beachybeach · 06/01/2021 20:42

The only clap I might do is that patronising one to the neighbours opposite who had a whole house full at Xmas/NYE.

Maerchentante · 06/01/2021 20:44

I won't be clapping, the last few weeks of the original one was one massive virtue-signalling wankfest in my road (pardon the language), with neighbours trying to out do each other. One household went from clapping to banging on a pot to using a pot, fireworks and a metal bucket. Strangely enough, they are also the ones who brag that the NHS isn't for them and that they only ever go private Hmm.

To be honest, I find it all a bit cringe and would rather medical and care staff were paid properly.

BlackeyedSusan · 06/01/2021 20:45

This house is too autistic for clapping. Thank fuck it is dark and cold and I do not have the durtains open at that time.
