Lockdown until MARCH

Laurapink0 · 06/01/2021 02:00

BBC now reporting lockdown will now be until March, probably.

I actually can’t do this. Like, that’s easy to say but I really really can’t. How long can we go on like this

Did you see todays update?

There was no definite date but he didn't say March

He said they hope to have all kids back in school before the Summer holidays

RickiTarr · 06/01/2021 02:03

You can. We all can.

I’ve been shielding for a while now and I’m making a list of things I’m going to do when it’s all over. Pub lunch in sunshine to start with. What will you do?

frozendaisy · 06/01/2021 02:03

I just try and think because of the vaccine it's the last time. I reckon once things open up again and it will be gradual, they won't close again.

I know Boris didn’t say March, but the bbc said it and it’s all official government leaks n stuff. It’ll be true 🥺

But Chris Whitty literally said today that with their new vaccine approach they are risking releasing another rouge mutation. What if that happens ? This will literally be never ending

Yes that’s what Whitty said, and he’s always a cautious and accurate speaker.
CanWeHaveSnow · 06/01/2021 02:07

Iv been full shielding since MARCH !

Not been anywhere apart from doctors and Hospital

You can do it !

NiceGerbil · 06/01/2021 02:08

Yep OP we're here for the long term

My mental health was fucked from go

I'm hanging onto my job by my fingernails

I can't live this way. But I've done it for months. Anti depressants help. But. Also 100ish units a week.

We have no choice.

If I didn't have kids I'd be either at that rave in France or dead. We have good bridges here.

3 2 1 remember the war.

DramaAlpaca · 06/01/2021 02:09

You can do it. We all have to. Once the vaccines kick in things will gradually improve. Hang on in there.

NiceGerbil · 06/01/2021 02:11

I miss people so much.

This is no life.

OP Bank on being shut in till June. And if the vaccines etc haven't worked then people will start rioting. I'll be there.

frozendaisy · 06/01/2021 02:11

@Laurapink0

They will be strongly advised to use the vaccines as tested then.

There are vaccines, more will be approved, small little more patience, think how bleak it would be without them? We didn't have them just a month ago.

Honestly the medical advisors will pin Boris down and say "do this properly or don't bother"

Laurapink0 · 06/01/2021 02:19

Massive hugs to everyone ❤️

If people had said before lockdown 1 how long would you manage? I would have said no way could I manage longer than a couple of months. But see how far we've come! We can do it, not much longer to go now! Smile

user1471432735 · 06/01/2021 02:26

You can do it. I live in Melbourne

We were in very, very hard lockdown from mid July - Mid October (our cases peaked at 700 in August)
We had only 4 reasons to leave the house and limits on exercise, a 5km restriction on travel and a curfew. It absolutely and completely sucked and it was very very hard, but we got through it and you will too. Hang in there!

I had hope in lockdown 1, I’ve lost it all.

Every deadline they’ve ever set has been extended, every positive promise ever made has been wrong

We didn't have a vaccine then @Laurapink0 ! We didn't even know if we ever would!

tobee · 06/01/2021 02:34

You need to come on to the good news thread op!

EngTech · 06/01/2021 02:42

If lockdown is not adhered to, CV19 will keep spreading, the number of deaths will keep going up, NHS will be overloaded and the potential for more deaths will happen

Unfortunately a brutal no win situation

Given the choice between lockdown or potentially catching CV19 and dying, I will take the short term pain of lockdown and sort the associated problems when things get back to what will be the new normal

Eventually CV19 will be brought under control and we will learn to live/adapt with it, similar to flu

Death is a bit permanent

Cripesitsthegasman19 · 06/01/2021 02:43

This existence feels utterly pointless.

tobee · 06/01/2021 02:43

We have 3 vaccines (so far) though!

I’m glad that lockdown will only result in short term pain for you

Imagine all this before the web and streamed TV and Internet shopping, though. 25 years ago this would have been much much harder. Just the fact that a bunch of strangers can offload on and encourage each other like this as 3am is amazing.

Yes, you are correct, we’re definitely blessed in that regard x
