I'm Welsh (and live here). I think WG has been too keen to be seen to go its own way. We can't expect to call our own shots and be included in UK government decisions.

South west based but Welsh and family in Wales so I get some bits Welsh news from family or do some digging to understand.

Current update on Wales regarding education.
Gcses and think a levels scrapped before xmas.
Before xmas or just after they announced secondary school kids only until 18th jan and last circuit break they had random secondary years in.

However they decided let each council decide to reopen primaries on the 4th Jan.
Think read in argus that powys ,Monmouthshire and torfean council decided primaries to go back.
The later 2 share anurin bevan overstretched health board.
Bleanu gwent shut early before xmas and think they decided extend so really does depend where you live.

Despite Scotland and England saying school shut until least half term Wales been quiet thought kirsty Williams and getting already reiterated this week school are safe , schools important and aim is back by Jan 18th.
My mam said drakeford been really quiet but Wales must be due another update soon as far as I could tell theres no end date of current lockdown .
Ecv are expected to shield again as my dads locked away again.
No idea about Welsh Universitys either think they off as freind attends Cardiff but lives Bristol.

Devolution has been in place for 21 years

Health is 98% devolved.

Our population demographics are different.

What’s so hard to understand?

Advised. They aren’t required to.

(And in Wales it’s CEV, not ECV).

Nobody has forgotten it it makes it's own rules

The OP whatever her reasons for asking does indirectly highlight the point that the Prime Minister far too often seems to forget that the changes he announces are for England only.
