I missed the first part!

I know schools have closed until Feb half term.

Nursery open

Can you meet anyone for walks?

Takeaways open?

Borders closed? (Probably not)

Could someone sum it up for me?

I've booked a flight to visit my grandma in a different country... I don't think she'll make it till the summer. I'm so gutted and torn ....

Wherediditgo · 04/01/2021 20:45

@Fortheweekend

I’m confused. On the info it says you can meet with one other person for walks etc but further down it states you can not meet up with anyone outside of your household?
It seems to contradict itself. They specifically mention exercising outdoors with your household or (actual) bubble or one other person. So I’m reading it that you can meet up with a friend for a walk. Which I shall be doing, with my trusty hipflask of whisky.
Twigletgirl27 · 04/01/2021 20:46

Does anyone know if you can travel outside your area to care for someone? DH may need to travel a few hours away to help care for his sister who is currently in hospital with COVID pneumonia, once she is discharged

lljkk · 04/01/2021 20:49

caring seems to be valid reason to travel

Sounds like mistakes in the writing/meeting up one person thing.

blueangel19 · 04/01/2021 20:49

lazy face I think you would be ok to travel under essential circumstances so long your flight is still on.

Redbrickwall · 04/01/2021 20:50

Thank god about construction. Thanks everyone

justanotherneighinparadise · 04/01/2021 20:50

Does anyone know if Boots will stay open? I have an important second injection booked with them in a weeks time that will complete a vaccination!

You can meet up for exercise but not socially. So you can go for a walk but don't stop for a picnic or a sit down on a park bench.

Pharmacies are essential.

Yes you can. The guidance says "should" not leave local area, not must, and the care exemption has been there since the March lockdown in any event.

It says you can leave the place where you live wks stay overnight if hon are visiting your support bubble

annevonkleve · 04/01/2021 20:54

@Bambam2019

You must not leave the house unless essential....or taking your child to nursery it seems? Ridiculous
Not ridiculous if you need to go to work!
Monkeytapper · 04/01/2021 20:54

Is my DD allowed to go to childminder still? I work part time as a receptionist, engineering so not closing. OH works away mon-fri so can’t look after her.

Frenchcroissant · 04/01/2021 20:57

Can you go to the post office? Is that an essential trip? I'm so confused

Twigletgirl27 · 04/01/2021 20:57

@ivfbeenbusy @annevonkleve thanks for your replies. It's a complete nightmare isn't it. My DHs sister lives alone, is in her 70s and will definitely need some support.

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 04/01/2021 20:57

In summary:

Your child can’t go to school and will miss yet another huge chunk of their education but it a perfectly fine to go and dick around in a garden centre.

GabsAlot · 04/01/2021 20:57

if click and collect can carry on then thers no difference wher ei live at all

HeartZone · 04/01/2021 20:59

He didn’t mention university returners?
Can they return over the coming weeks?
I’m asking about both halls and private rentals if anyone knows, thanks.
Legal and not guidance! Thanks.

Ickiness · 04/01/2021 20:59

Basically it’s a complete shit show
Another lockdown even though the others have achieved fuck all all year
Worse situation than last March

I bet the bloody borders are still open though 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

basilsmom · 04/01/2021 21:00

It's annoying cos they haven't made it clear if you can go to the dentist but you can we're still open and seeing patients

daisychain01 · 04/01/2021 21:00

@Robbybobtail

I think it will be very much the same as the last lockdown except people won’t take as much notice this time!
What are you going to do? It isn't about speculating what other people will do. You don't have a crystal ball to know the future, each and every person needs to get behind this.

It isn't a joke or time to be flippant. The NHS will crash and burn with the volume of people being admitted.

We all need to get out of denial mode, now.

justanotherneighinparadise · 04/01/2021 21:02

I would guess that dentists are now organised and have PPE so as an essential service, they will remain open.

Blueeyesparkle · 04/01/2021 21:02

I’m in Scotland and our local tesco had a queue nearly all around the car park today. People panic buying as there were no eggs or toilet rolls left at 3pm when I popped down after work to get cat food

whatwedontknow · 04/01/2021 21:02

So he says it’s 40% worse than March, then doesn’t close diy stores, garden centres, takeaways, construction sites, is that right? What the very fuck?
