Anyone else feel like they’re waiting for the executioner?

Waiting on BJ’s announcement this evening. We know what’s going to be in it, we know schools are going to close but it still feels like waiting for the executioner having to wait for that announcement

There’s a teeny tiny part of me hoping for a stay of execution that’s not going to come

So much for the new year health kick after Christmas excess. I need Gin

Yes and no.

I’ve just had confirmation thank god that DS can go to school as a key worker child and that they will actually be learning unlike last time.

I think I can (selfishly) cope with another few months of this bullshit so I’m just trying to remember how bloody lucky I am and ignoring the rest.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 04/01/2021 18:49

I hear you x can't motivate myself to do much else until the axe falls..... I'm on vodka x chin chin....

PusheenLove · 04/01/2021 18:49

Yup. When we signed up to have kids we didn't sign up to being on house arrest with them ConfusedWink

JustFrigginNameChange · 04/01/2021 18:51

My daughter was so happy to be back in school today too Sad she's an only child and has had no other child to play with since November as her year group had to self isolate 2 and a half weeks before the Christmas holidays

MistressoftheDarkSide · 04/01/2021 18:53

Am ashamed to say I have no young children or grand children as my excuse....but I do have a terminally I'll non essential shop and the motivation of wet spaghetti. I feel for those with the more pressing concerns Flowers

Sweetpea84 · 04/01/2021 18:53

I’ve been told my 2 can go in as key worker children from tomorrow so as long as that’s in place then I can put up with it for a little longer. I’m very thankful.

SummerHouse · 04/01/2021 18:55

Schrödinger's uniform and pack ups are hanging over me as jobs I need to do but inevitably won't need.

8 pm is a bitch of a time to set.

Also can't be arsed with anything productive.

Tillsforthrills · 04/01/2021 18:57

8pm seems to add insult to the injury. There’s absolutely no reason to make people wait this long.

PusheenLove · 04/01/2021 19:00

It'll not be 8pm and you know it

AnnaSW1 · 04/01/2021 19:01

Yep. Praying nurseries don't have to shut!

mangoandraspberries · 04/01/2021 19:01

Yep! Assuming school will be closed and feeling sad for my children. Will be busy for us too, but I can cope with that (just about!), it’s more that they will be missing out. Trying to remind myself there are others much worse off, but finding this much harder than the first lockdown

SummerHouse · 04/01/2021 19:02

I think it's a recorded effort rather than a briefing so more likely to be on time. We will see...
Flev · 04/01/2021 19:05

Me too. My daughter is due her settling in session at nursery tomorrow, and was then starting on Thursday. It was going to be the first time she had contact with another child her own age since last March. We still have paperwork to finish for her and nametapes to sew into her hat and gloves but there now seems no point. Praying they don't also close the playgrounds...

WankPuffins · 04/01/2021 19:06

I'm quite drunk.

Dry January went well. I've had such a shit 24 hours.

Bring it on Doris.

WankPuffins · 04/01/2021 19:07

That daft fucker won't dare be late this time. He's pissed off too many already and he knows it.

I also have a baby due to settle in this month. Feels even more stressful!
NeonBella · 04/01/2021 19:09

I'm so envious (not in a horrible way, more of a you lucky buggers kind of way) of people who can continue to send their kids in.
Ds, like every other kid, needs to be at school instead of trapped in a small gardenless flat.
I honestly don't know how we'll both manage to get our work done and not completely lose all will to live.

Dontmakemegoback2office · 04/01/2021 19:10

Ah well. One man’s executioner is another man’s freedom fighter.

FreakinFrankNFurter · 04/01/2021 19:11

mangoandraspberries that’s I how feel, just so bloody sad for DS. He’s an only child and was so unhappy during the first lockdown and began to show signs of depression. It breaks me heart to think of him going through that again. He loves school snd is such a sociable thing Sad

I have two exam year kids. They're stuffed.

Monkeytennis97 · 04/01/2021 19:22

Robert Peston is reporting exams will probably be cancelled

bellinisurge · 04/01/2021 19:23

Will this help?

Anyone else feel like they’re waiting for the executioner?
SendHelp30 · 04/01/2021 19:24

We would be offered a keyworker place for DC but going to keep them home. I will be wfh and can do so with the children and there’s 3 of them to keep one another compaby and we are very lucky to have a large garden and DD has her own devices for a school work.
It’s a small school with a limited number of places so would rather keep my DC home so that children who would benefit more can attend.
8pm is cruel!!! NS doesn’t piss about like this!

ChesterDraws4Sale · 04/01/2021 19:26

God yes. I’ve ended dry January as I can’t face watching it sober. Like you I’m sure schools will shut but desperately hoping for a stay of execution. I feel completely paralysed waiting for the inevitable.
