What does total lockdown mean? Schools off?

Do we think the schools are going to be off? I know we haven’t got long to wait until the announcement but is that what this national lockdown means? Boz seemed hell bent on keeping them open. Thanks.

I'm wondering if it means I can go to work - I work in people's homes and in Tier 4 I could.....

cptartapp we have the opposite problem, DS now 14 and still waiting to even start the process!

Total lockdown in England now means f**k all apart from the extra step of closing schools just to ensure that the public schools retain their stranglehold on the top jobs for another generation.

Without any sort of controls (eg around how long you can leave the house for, how far you can travel etc) and without enforcement of the controls (having to bring documents to prove when you left the house, using the army etc) people now know they can do what they want - no problem to go out for a walk and meet up with other families, no problem to spend the afternoon mooching around The Range and the garden centre etc, no problem visiting others who are pretty relaxed.

And why should people care when there are ridiculous exemptions in place such as it's okay to travel back and forth on the plane every week as long as you do it every week for work, I can have my domestic staff in because they can't work from home etc etc. Government policy is relying on the scared little people complying with all sorts of random restrictions whilst everyone with a bit of cash who can comfortably work from home just goes about their normal life (in the Chipping Nortons of this world the gatherings may be smaller but be under no illusion the nannies, cleaners and catering staff are still in so no probem joining Zoom calls and working effectively from home in the study, private schools don't need to worry about kids not having their own laptop, lots of teachers are filling their spare time with extra tutoring and Soho Farmhouse has remained open until tier 4 kicked in just with more limits on guests etc).

@cptartapp

I hope they keep orthodontists open. My two will be married with kids by the time they get their braces off. DS1 has had his on that long, they've lost track of whether his teeth should be being pulled backwards or forwards Confused
Same here, my ds has had his braces on for so long when they do come off he’ll probably have little permanent square marks on each tooth!
