What do you think the lockdown measures will include later today? Thanks

March 2020

notevenat20 · 04/01/2021 15:49

I want to know when that will start? It would be nice to able to tell DC if they are going to school before they go to sleep.

Thatwentbadly · 04/01/2021 15:51

Parliament is not being recalled until Wednesday so probably start at 1 min past midnight that evening.

123rd · 04/01/2021 15:51

Robert peston had just tweeted' schools to close, t4 for everyone , no outdoor mixing in games in parks but ( I assume ) lone excerise to continue

HappyChristmasTreeRex · 04/01/2021 15:51

Hard to see, apart from schools, if there is anything more in Tier 4 that they could impose. It feels like lockdown did, but nursery and schools are open.

Panickingpavlova · 04/01/2021 15:52

goodness knows I just hope its bloody simple its all too complicated

yomommasmomma · 04/01/2021 15:53

Does anyone know of childcare will remain open? I cannot cope with working full time from home again with a 22 month old and a 6 year old. I nearly had a mental breakdown last time (despite husband helping, he works full time from home too) and I cannot do it again.

PicsInRed · 04/01/2021 15:55

Jeremy Hunt suggested border closure, so that.

About time.

123rd · 04/01/2021 15:55

And the long forgotten about alert level is now at five. Who the fuck knows what that means???

ComtesseDeSpair · 04/01/2021 15:56

Most of the country is already in Tier 4 which is basically where we were in March last year except education and childcare settings are open - so really, the only place to go further is to close them. Can only imagine it’s going to be that. They could impose a night time curfew, I suppose - but since there’s nowhere open to go anyway, what would be the point.

Danni91 · 04/01/2021 15:56

I believe they will shut schools down again.

To be honest at this stage I'm so fucking fed up id rather a total lockdown until the whole of the UK is vaccinated.

2020 really bought out kindness is many, and the arseholes in even more.

I just want to fast forward.

Shut us down, vaccinate, reopen safely. All this back and forth, ifs and maybes, u turns and 'one day' is a bitch.

StealthPolarBear · 04/01/2021 15:58

Grrr

Our primary school sent out an email an hour ago asking to apply for places for key workers asap. So i think so ? Is your 22month a nursery or childminder? Rules may differ I guess.

Whole population? According to a website myself 35yo healthy white woman won’t be vacc til 2022 ... I’d rather die if lockdown lasts til then !
SophieB100 · 04/01/2021 16:02

Much the same as Scotland have just announced.

Startaler · 04/01/2021 16:03

I'd like to know what the advice is going to be for people who needed to shield last time. Or more so the children who needed to shield. I work with medically vulnerable children in a school setting where they all have EHCPs. The first lockdown a lot of children were told to shield but apparently now it's safe for them to come to school. I know my school will stay open but I would feel much better if our medically vulnerable were told to isolate. With all the will in the world, a risk assessment can't make schools Covid safe.

Danni91 · 04/01/2021 16:06

@EasterIssland I didn't even know it was that long.

I'm sorry. I assumed we would be in a better place by spring but i also thought we would be better off by summer last March. Then by Christmas.

Sad
IfTheSockFits · 04/01/2021 16:10

I reckon it will be a full lockdown like we had in March last year, with schools closed and only essential retailers & services allowed to remain open.

And we need to close the damn borders properly this time.

Well said. Completely agree with you.
Carlislemumof4 · 04/01/2021 16:13

If schools are to close again why is there no talk of suspension of the curriculum, cancellation of exams and Sats in England, DCs to repeat a school year with all the disruption.

Just a load of deluded bollocks about 'moving education for little kids online' as if they're adults able to cope with zoom meetings. And leaving them to inevitably achieve lower results at the end of the year to take forward. My daughter having to walk in to a secondary school in September which she may not have visited at all and having not been in school with her peers for months by then. Because when will teachers deem it 'safe' to educate her again? Vaccine rollout and further development will take years.

PattyPan · 04/01/2021 16:30

Probably similar to the first lockdown in March. Peston was on Twitter saying schools will be closed and no team sports.

Pinkcadillac · 04/01/2021 16:40

Tier 4 plus schools & churches closure

They may bring in the 'leave the house once a day for exercise' rule

They can't do much more, it really is all about compliance and personal responsibility

If you take a look at Scotland's lockdown, is just Tier 4 + schools closure

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 04/01/2021 16:52

Scotland seems to have a good stance from midnight so I’d go with that and maybe a few extras. Limited shopping trips and only one adult. Many seem to see it as a social activity currently.

GabsAlot · 04/01/2021 17:02

well they need to do it like march with absolutely nothing open but i wont hold my breath too many people out shopping right now

ComtesseDeSpair · 04/01/2021 17:11

Well, it’s been school holidays, hence many parents need to take children with them shopping. If they close the schools, parents will still need to take children shopping. Sure, they could refuse to allow two-parent family groups in together - except then we’ll have, as with mask-wearing, all the people complaining they need to be an exemption because they’re disabled and need their partner’s help to shop or whatever.
