To say if they bring in the "only one hour a day outside" guidance I am NOT going to follow it

There are rumours on the BBC news that the Government might bring back rules saying you can only exercise outside for an hour a day.

AIBU to ignore it if they do? I followed it last time despite the fact that it was only in guidance (rather than the law) even though it had a negative impact on me and there is an incredibly low chance of the virus being transmitted outside, especially if you keep away from people.

Bringing this rule back whilst schools stay open seems especially ridiculous.

Why is it whenever I see a completely unbelievable post on here, when I flick my eyes up to see whose posted it, it's always you? Like literally always Hmm

GrandTheftWalrus · 03/01/2021 23:29

Quite right. I have the Clyde walkway beside me and can walk all the way to lanark one way or into Glasgow the other. We done it into Glasgow one night and passed no one then got the train home.

Grandtheft · 03/01/2021 23:29

I would say that maybe driving 4 hours to a very popular place like the Brecon Beacons is probably unwise, but driving 35 mins from your town up to the moors and parking in a quiet layby and going off for a 15 mile run is fine. It's just being sensible and not creating a crowd. If you're local you will know where the deserted spots are.

GrandTheftWalrus · 03/01/2021 23:30

That was to @RaspberryCoulis

JacobReesMogadishu · 03/01/2021 23:30

Wasn’t there something last time about only one lot of exercises a day...but no time limit?

I never stood to that last time. Walked the dog and the. Went for a bike ride for cardio. Which I’ll do again this time regardless.

Did a 3 hr bike ride yesterday in minus temps, it’s fine as long as you dress appropriately.

GrandTheftWalrus · 03/01/2021 23:30

@grandtheft you confused me there with your username.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 03/01/2021 23:33

@Cherrysoup

Fake news. Don’t spread mis-information. And who the buggery will spy on you then arse themselves to report you? Dear me.
It's not big & it's not clever to attempt my to sound like Trump.

It's NOT 'fake news' and it's NOT misinformation. It WAS reported on the bbc today, so how about getting your facts straight before accusing people.

Sweettea1 · 03/01/2021 23:33

Talk on my local news is another full lockdown is coming our way by end of next week. schools will also close so yes only out for exercise i don't remember it being for 1 hour only. Go out to exercise/walk for aslong as you want within your area staying away from people.

Quaagars · 03/01/2021 23:37

It's all speculation, wherever it's coming from though, that's what annoys me!
NOBODY knows, not even the local news.
It's honestly scare mongering and doom day predictions when no-one knows what is going to happen.
Before anyone says, I know I could be proved wrong this time next week if it turns out we do go into lockdown, but right now it's all projection, "what if's and "what should's"

Schools are closed in Scotland already until at least 18th Jan, although everyone expects this to be extended. All hospitality closed - takeaway only. All non-essential retail closed.

That's pretty much a full lockdown as far as I'm concerned.

Me too! I thought I was answering myself for a moment! 😆

Quaagars · 03/01/2021 23:44

Same here in England. Well, it is for all secondary schools, not so sure about primary school.

Notcontent · 03/01/2021 23:49

For those saying it’s too cold to exercise outside - there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing... But then again in the U.K. most people don’t really dress appropriately for cold weather...

MrsMiaWallis · 03/01/2021 23:57

I don't mind the cold but I won't run on icy roads!

BubblyBarbara · 03/01/2021 23:59

Ten minutes in this weather is too much for me

Sweettea1 · 04/01/2021 00:01

Yes speculation but at the same time it seems to get leaked what's going on behind closed doors. Its very rare I watch the news but tv was on the chanel and it came on.

CharityDingle · 04/01/2021 00:02

@Notimeforaname

It definitely was the case in Ireland. 1 hour per day back in the first lockdown. If that happens again I will not adhere and go out when I please. Will still stay distant, wear a mask etc. But no I wont be staying in like a prisoner with my one hour to run around the yard Hmm
Really?

I don't recall this being the case, and I have complied with all restrictions.

MadisonAvenue · 04/01/2021 00:03

I was going out twice a day last time, early morning and late evening to walk the dog on the common and in the woods near our house.

My husband worried at the time that a neighbour would report me for breaking the once a day rule and I told him not to be daft.
However, it appears that we do actually have a neighbour who’s reporting anything to the police that he or she perceives to be a rule break and they’ve visited various neighbour on three occasions since the second lockdown started.

Sweettea1 · 04/01/2021 00:03

Our high schools are closed until 18th and alot of primary school have said they won't be reopening with local council supporting their decision.

veeeeh · 04/01/2021 00:05

Some here appear to be obsessed with telling everyone how good they are re running, walking etc. lol.

No one cares, they live their own lives.

80sColourfulChristmas · 04/01/2021 00:08

@Ihaveoflate

I have a toddler and I can tell you that we definitely need more than an hour outside - in whatever weather!
This makes me feel like a dreadful parent. We haven’t left the house today and only went to supermarket yesterday 😬 I am disabled and a single parent, but still... Do you not ever have days where you don’t leave the house?

It IS FAKE News and the BBC are wrong, unsurprisingly WRONG. The BBC have been doing a great job during this pandemic with their scaremongering and FALSE news reports.

Seasaltyhair · 04/01/2021 00:11

It was actually talked about in the media, Boris stated one form of exercise a day and then Michael Gove went on to say something about 30 mins being enough.

No one actually made it law that you were only allowed out for one hour - however lots of people believed that was the case.

And I’m not surprised - because of the militants on here accusing people of being murderers for leaving the house for frivolities like a box of cereal for your kids when we should have all been eating dry pasta for days or pearl clutching watching their neighbours through the window because they had been out multiple times a day and were smiling.

Some people were born to be controlled and ordered about.

jessstan1 · 04/01/2021 00:18

I also read that one hour a day of outside exercise will be the limit. Whether than happens or not remains to be seen. I'd have thought one hour would be sufficient anyway (you can do some additional exercise indoors and in the garden if you have one), plus you are allowed to go shopping which means a bit more of being out and exercising, unless you drive there and back.

Sweettea1 · 04/01/2021 00:19

@80sColourfulChristmas You are not alone 1st time took my dc out today we was going local shop but popped in park for 10 mins other than big shop we haven't been out. Yes its been miserable staying in alot but its freezing and safer indoors so making the most of all the new toys 🙃
