It's all over fb that our local primary schools are closing tomorrow. My son is in nursery so I'm assuming that will follow suit. He will be so upset as he's been so excited about going back :(
We're in Lancashire. This happening anywhere else?

I don't disagree with the that necessarily.. I suppose I'm more interested in how it's actually possible to get the work done (I'm still on mat leave, due back in 2 weeks). The childcare is full on from 6-8 minimum. How to fit 2 demanding full time roles around that I have no clue ... if I thought it was possible to do my role adequately and parent a 1 and 4 year old properly, of course I would. I'm concerned for our nursery staff... but I would be lying if I said I could get the quality and quantity of work done I'm paid for ....

No, it's not possible to work full time with young children around, I agree.

But I don't think workers, women in particular, should concede any ground in the move towards flexible working.

If the hours and work of a role can be done during evenings, weekends and the odd bit here and there (and there's another parent around) and the worker wants to do that way , I think the onus should be on the employer to agree to flexible hours at the moment to contribute to overall reduction of transmission.
