www.schoolcovidmap.org.uk

Tells you the case rate in area of school catchment. May be useful for school staff/parents deciding what to do.

824 per 100,000 here. I have to go to work so mine will be going in, until that changes from the government I won't be able to negotiate time off with my boss.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 03/01/2021 11:20

192 per 100k. We are in tier 4. Happy for DS to go in tomorrow. Some tier 3 areas have higher rates.

MummaBear4321 · 03/01/2021 11:22

Mine is 344 per 100k, up from 220 last week. I am thinking of keeping DD home from nursery.

finkking · 03/01/2021 11:27

Mine is around 700 but reduced since last week.

CallmeIT · 03/01/2021 11:27

This is really interesting, thanks. Rates across my town vary quite significantly looking at this (200 per 100000 for the school where I live but 500 for the school my DC attend!)

Mintjulia · 03/01/2021 11:28

I don't think that's useful at all. It doesn't tell me known rates at the school, and I already know the local rate from the gov/bbc. So what does it add?

CatVsChristmasTree · 03/01/2021 11:30

453, down from 520. But we are in the tier 4 with delayed opening area, so not school for a week or two.

LoudBatPerson · 03/01/2021 11:34

This just seems to show the ward rates for the location of the school, not the school itself. The community infection rate doesn't necessarily translate to the school infection rate.

Not real helpful for any school that has students come from more than just surrounding few streets, and doesn't offer anything the gov.uk daily update page doesn't offer.

SvenandSven · 03/01/2021 11:36

Ds school different town tier 3. 133 per 100k up by 20 from last week.
Happy for Ds to go in. Looks like his school open anyway as a sen school and he is in secondary.
Dd's school a mainstream secondary so off until 18th. School in town we live tier 3.
81 per 100k if it was open would be happy to send.

Sausagessizzling · 03/01/2021 11:38

@Mintjulia I'm terribly sorry it isn't of interest to you. I wonder, need you have posted or just clicked off?

Personally I find it interesting as a union rep in communication with staff from schools in many different areas who are trying to decide what to do for the best, for themselves, families, students and communities. Other people on MN may find it useful for all sorts of reasons.

Tier 4.
Primary and early years open.

ShaunaTheSheep · 03/01/2021 11:39

Very useful thank you.

Home is around 700 , one school is just shy of 1000 Shock, one 500-ish and university is 200.

ShaunaTheSheep · 03/01/2021 11:41

It is useful as DC use public transport and walk through the areas to school, and one going back to hall of residence.

Much easier than looking up wards/boroughs.

BiggerBoat1 · 03/01/2021 11:42

Scary. The rate around the school I teach at is 600 per 100,000. I have no choice but to go in.

PomPomSugar · 03/01/2021 11:44

I think this is useful for primary schools whereby (usually) the pupils that attend are in a small catchment area. This doesn’t help me with regards to secondary school as the school is located in our small town and is the nearest for some miles so we have a huge catchment area covering so many villages across the corners of two counties.

Dinosaurcatcher · 03/01/2021 11:45

198 Tier 4 here

Wejustdontknow · 03/01/2021 11:46

This is very interesting, thank you. 168 in my area which is reassuring

missnevermind · 03/01/2021 11:48

Son at Senior school 250 but shut till 18th
Daughter at primary school 480 but has to be in Tuesday.

RedskyAtnight · 03/01/2021 11:48

That might be useful for primary schools in towns/cities, but not sure it's that helpful elsewhere where children attending the school live outside the immediate area of the school. My DC's large secondary has a catchment area that spans about 4 Covid reporting areas: 2 of which are significantly higher than the one in which the school is in. Not to mention the children coming from out of catchment :)

I'd suggest looking at the interactive coronavirus map coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/interactive-map which enables you to look at areas surrounding your school as well (just zoom in).

Handsnotwands · 03/01/2021 11:50

140 per 1000 here. We’re going in!

Dee1975 · 03/01/2021 11:50

98 per 100,000. So no concerns here. But understand concern for those with high rates.

Sausagessizzling · 03/01/2021 11:51

@RedskyAtnight
That's a brilliant tool, thank you, had no idea that existed.

OP posts:
hiredandsqueak · 03/01/2021 11:52

162 for dd's school which is reassuring considering the rates others are quoting.

MrsPernicious · 03/01/2021 11:52

Thanks it gives the rate by Middle layer Super Output Areas and is more up to date than the governments interactive map coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/interactive-map

MrsMop1964 · 03/01/2021 11:53

Tier 4, 410 but our council is advising closure and 2 primary schools (including one I work in) already notified parents of moving to online learning as of yesterday/this morning.
