So here's mine:
I look after my niece one day a week and last week it happened to fall on the day our grocery delivery was due, it arrived without my dogs food and we'd run out that morning, so loaded my DD and niece (6 month old and 1 year old) to the supermarket, literally went in, both girls in pushchair so she wasn't running wild, grabbed the dog food and headed to the till, she'd been very good so I grabbed her a individual packet of chocolate buttons as a treat from next to the till, only for the lady behind me to tut and say 'that's not exactly essential shopping is it! Idiots like you are the reason we're in this mess! You should be ashamed of yourself! Then again what do we expect from girls like you that have nothing better to do than keep popping out kids for the benefits!' 😂 I love people's assumptions!

  1. Only 1 is actually mine,
  2. Both girls we're planned and very much wanted,
And 3. I'm 26 and married 😂 I loved the look on her face when I turned round and informed her 'and I'm pregnant again!' 😂

The man at the post office counter tellung me that they weren't allowed to give change at the moment as they have been very busy during lockdown. However, what I could do is pay the 20 pound note I was holding into my bank account, then withdraw it in pound coins in a seperate transaction 😐

CornishYarg · 31/12/2020 15:48

This was in the middle of the first lockdown, hopefully people have calmed down since.

Sadly, I fear not. Our local Facebook page is currently overrun with comments berating "idiots who aren't wearing masks and are selfishly ignoring the restrictions". Their crime: walking outside in a public area. Anyone who put their head above the parapet and said they were there to get some exercise and/or points out masks aren't compulsory outside is rounded on with cries of "Don't you know there's a global pandemic on?" and "What part of stay at home don't you understand?" And those who do acknowledge that exercise is allowed seem to think there's still a one hour limit on exercise.

I'm hoping it's just a small very vocal group of Facebook warriors.

My Dad having a hospital appointment to have his pacemaker replaced. Was told I couldn't drive him to hospital as he was ECV and tests weren't easily accessible at the time (this was in May).

However refused him patient transport and suggested he get a taxi or bus to and from his surgery appointment.

Somehow this was deemed safer in their minds than me (who had been on furlough and very strictly following the stay at home rules) for 2 months taking him.

Damn well took him anyway.

Not the stupidest thing, but it does amuse me how football players and managers carefully avoid shaking hands at the end of a game, do the whole elbow bump thing, then go in for a little hug anyway 🙄

MrsBeltane · 31/12/2020 15:58

Being made to wear plastic over shoes in the office.

The stupidest thing I have encountered is my neighbour who is in his 70s telling me he won’t be having the vaccine because he has one of those little Actimel drinks every day and that has got him covered...

SeasonallySnowyPeasant · 31/12/2020 16:04

So many posts on here. I read one yesterday by a parent saying she and their DC hadn't left the house since March because the DC started crying when they saw other children playing and they weren't allowed to Confused

I'm sure the population will need mass counseling after this.

Actually have to agree with this one.
YogaLite · 31/12/2020 16:08

Was sitting on the grass with a friend just after 1st lockdown, socially distanced.

A passing yob cyclist threw water from the bottle from which he was drinking into my face.

I didn't see him drinking but a stranger nearby did and came up to me and offered to be a witness, but all we managed to get was a distant photo.

Had reported it to the police at the time but of course nothing came out of it.

Popcornriver · 31/12/2020 16:10

I saw someone at the till lick her fingers to open a plastic bag, pay for her shopping by card and then put the card in her mouth and finally sanitise her hands.

My Great Aunt on zoom, who we all knew was not following guidance, doing the woe-is-me 'I never see anyone, I'm abiding by all the rules' as in the background my cousin walks into her house and sits down.

Gwenhwyfar · 31/12/2020 16:35

Someone on Twitter concluding that if the people who are vulnerable to Covid are often the same people who are entitled to the free flu jab then it must be the flu jab that is causing Covid complications.

planningaheadtoday · 31/12/2020 16:35

I go on rural walks, far away from everyone. One particular circular walk I hadn't done before took me back across the far edge of a field behind some houses.
A lady took umbrage at me walking close to her garden (I was about 7 meters from it) and started to shout at me. Real abuse.
I wasn't doing any damage, in the countryside it's acceptable to walk around the edge of a field, but not through it damaging crops. She just didn't like me walking past her (large) garden.

safariboot · 31/12/2020 16:40

The government's plan announced today to deliberately give the vaccine incorrectly.

Yes - just when you think they can't shock you any more with their incompetence, they will manage to pull it out of the bag. This will have catastrophic implications.
Smiths84 · 31/12/2020 16:56

I saw a lady take her face mask off in a shop to sneeze before saying excuse me and putting it back on again!

umpteennamechanges · 31/12/2020 17:00

Someone on my FB friends sharing photos of their dinner party for several friends this week.

All inside, no social distancing, all on selfies together so like a regular night before the pandemic.

She's in Tier 4.

I removed her from my account.

It was the arrogance of her messages written with the photos in particular that made me Hmm

ferretface · 31/12/2020 17:01

I got told to cross the road during the first lockdown by a cyclist despite me being more than 2 metres away from them (road is a single track lane with no pavements and it's quite dangerous to have your back to oncoming traffic as a pedestrian!)

IrmaFayLear · 31/12/2020 17:02

I was walking along a wide road and a couple were walking along on the other side. They flung themselves into the hedge and the man was roaring, “GET BACK!! We’RE SHIELDING” at me, with his hand up. It was quite upsetting. He was so angry, and I was completely minding my own business, not in their path at all. Horrid pair.

TheDogsMother · 31/12/2020 17:07

A woman ranting on in the queue for the Co op this morning. Apparently we aren't seeing any tv footage of hospitals now because they are actually empty. The government is deliberately making everyone panic. This whole thing is hugely hyped up apparently. Pathetic.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 31/12/2020 17:08

Local care home bans family and friend visitors. The asks on Facebook for volunteer visitors to sit and talk to residents. As they are lonely because not allowed to see family and friends Confused

Stupid and dangerous all in one go!
