So here's mine:
I look after my niece one day a week and last week it happened to fall on the day our grocery delivery was due, it arrived without my dogs food and we'd run out that morning, so loaded my DD and niece (6 month old and 1 year old) to the supermarket, literally went in, both girls in pushchair so she wasn't running wild, grabbed the dog food and headed to the till, she'd been very good so I grabbed her a individual packet of chocolate buttons as a treat from next to the till, only for the lady behind me to tut and say 'that's not exactly essential shopping is it! Idiots like you are the reason we're in this mess! You should be ashamed of yourself! Then again what do we expect from girls like you that have nothing better to do than keep popping out kids for the benefits!' 😂 I love people's assumptions!

  1. Only 1 is actually mine,
  2. Both girls we're planned and very much wanted,
And 3. I'm 26 and married 😂 I loved the look on her face when I turned round and informed her 'and I'm pregnant again!' 😂

Probably my DD, two at the time, licking a closed fair ground ride on a pier. It was the first week of July, we had been shielded all bloody lockdown and sanitising like crazy and being extra careful. We went away for a long weekend, post lockdown, to the beach and within 30 mins she was licking a filthy dirty Merry-go-round. Certainly helped us go back to our usually, non germ fearing selves a bit more Grin

Redbrickwall · 31/12/2020 13:20

I was put on a Facebook shaming post for driving my children to a car park to practice their bike riding without stabilisers. I was shamed because I had driven and at the time, you could only exercise within walking distance from your home.

One of my children had a broken foot hence me driving. I live in the village. There was no other fucker around.

People have lost all their reasoning skills.

LH1987 · 31/12/2020 13:23

@Mommabear20, well now at least you know that it is not essential for dogs to eat, that will save you some money Grin

The most ridiculous thing I saw was two people sitting eating lunch in the middle of a green beside my apartment complex and another resident shouting at them that they should be socially distanced! This was in the middle of the first lockdown, hopefully people have calmed down since.

Bagelsandbrie · 31/12/2020 13:24

We had an old man shout at us because we were playing with a football in the park near us. Just me and ds. In the open air. No one else around.

Tenyearsgone · 31/12/2020 13:24

About a million posts on MN.

Red brick - I remember your thread at the time! Did you get in touch with the man who’d posted ?
Sittinginmyoodie · 31/12/2020 13:26

This wasn't in covid times, but I had similar when my DS2 was little. We do live in a low income area and all of the stereotypes that brings. I'd gone for a walk with him in the buggy and because it was my one day off that week (after working 46 hours), I'd thrown on a pair of leggings and a tshirt, and didn't bother with my make up.

Just to have a white van man shout at me whilst driving past "Get a fucking job, you benefit scrounger".

Heartlantern2 · 31/12/2020 13:27

😂😂OP! That’s where dry humour comes in!

“Tell me about it- I’m pregnant with twins and all the fathers of the different kids won’t get jobs to support me as there good for nothing”

Straight stare......

😂

Bixs · 31/12/2020 13:27

The level of aggressive insults thrown at other people on MN.

Thatwentbadly · 31/12/2020 13:27

My BIL and his wife going on holiday to Scotland for two week over Christmas, breaking all the rules about mixing household and leaving their not toilet trained dog with PIL as MIL started her first round of chemo. Or maybe them leaving their germ ridden 1 year old (as all toddlers are) with MIL who had not long had major surgery and was about to start chemo so he could have a break.

Heartlantern2 · 31/12/2020 13:29

That’s your MIl fault- she should have said no! And then given him a earful about the lack of respect shown to his mother!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 31/12/2020 13:30

I waa berated by a neighbour for taking the children with me to the supermarket. DH was working 11hr days at that point, 6 days a week, but the day off varied. And often got cancelled. We went on what should have been the day off .. the next one was 10days away.
Apparently I should have gone while the kids were at school... Like she did. She thought i should send them to KW provision (which I didn't need, as I wasn't working) instead of occasionally taking them to the supermarket.

Thatwentbadly · 31/12/2020 13:31

@Heartlantern2 I agree MIL should have said no but I also think BIL shouldn’t have asked.

inquietant · 31/12/2020 13:36

I have enjoyed trying repeatedly to explain that the vulnerable person isn't being protected from covid if their non-vulnerable partner goes out and does what they want.

Also 'school bubbles' were the biggest swindle since flea circuses, I couldn't belive how many parents were happy to swallow that load of bollocks!

HunterAngel · 31/12/2020 13:38

Mine is from the very start of the pandemic, when it had just reached us and there were only a few cases. Man walks up to the pharmacy, leans on the counter (like halfway over it, this was before the screens went up) and tells me he’s got ‘that new corona virus’ and asks what can I give him!

I took the biggest step back as physically possible and told him to go home and stop wandering about the supermarket!

bumbleymummy · 31/12/2020 13:46

The posts on here about people only being allowed outside for an hour to exercise even if you lived in the country/had a big garden and were not going to see another person never mind come anywhere near one. No logic at all.

PinkSpring · 31/12/2020 13:46

This whole pandemic has really shown the worst in some people - it's almost like they are taking delight in enforcing the "rules" but they just come across as utter twats!

I remember someone on here telling a poster than going out for MILK wasn't essential......

Nohomemadecandles · 31/12/2020 13:49

Primary school isolating Christmas cards for three days was a good one.

It's about to happen, using lateral flow tests instead of isolation in schools.

peakygal · 31/12/2020 13:54

DB and DSIL has kept DN off of school as he has a lung condition and some other medical issues. They don't want him catching Covid. Fair enough. Apart from the fact DB does whatever he pleases...Been to the pub loads whilst open and constantly attending house parties and also having parties at home Hmm

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 31/12/2020 13:57

I agree with the PP.. that milk and bread are not essential items 😂😂 classic mumsnet!

Chickychickydodah · 31/12/2020 13:57

Stupid people who think they know it all and are “right” in everything they say or do! 🤦‍♀️

TheLeastBit · 31/12/2020 13:57

Wasn't there something about using cheese in your coffee instead of non essential milk? 😂

badlydrawnbear · 31/12/2020 13:58

@Nohomemadecandles

Primary school isolating Christmas cards for three days was a good one.
DD, who is in year 5, told me that some DC brought in cards for another DC's birthday, which was ok except 1 of them licked the envelope to seal it rather than tuck it in, so that card had to be quarantined at school for 3 days before the birthday child was allowed to open it.
